This credit union didn't disclose that they were charging me $550 to refinance my car until after the hard credit pull was run, ink was dry, and loan was funded. This is how they artificially lower the interest rates and get more clicks, by not being transparent on hidden loan costs. ' Credit unions are supposed to be 'for the people,' 'neighbors helping neighbors' but this is crooked. You'll get far better service just financing at the dealership or through a national bank. At least dealerships are honest about screwing you and their commissions. I've never seen a bank charge fees like this one does. They're refilling their tills with nickels and dimes for sure! read more

Tried to deposit a child's check here since we have accounts. Told they would charge us a fee but we could open a child's account. Went home to get the required SS card and BC as we were told that was needed. Came back to a different person who said we also need an ID for a minor child. (What minor child has an ID?) I said all we have is a school ID and she said that was fine. Went home again. Came back to a third lady. This one says 'Oh, we don't require an ID for a minor.' Best financial company we have ever used! We have our mortgage, multiple vehicles loans over the years, checking, savings, retirements and a small CD with them. People are friendly and helpful whenever i have had something i needed clarified. No unexpected charges for anything. I can't say enough good things about them,! read more

My father got an account here. I needed to deposit a check for him. I didn't have the account number. I went in and was instantly greeted by a teller. There was no line. She verified some information and the deposit was done. I asked her a few questions about the account and I was out of there in about two minutes time. After unauthorized transactions on my account, I've faced challenges in getting my money returned despite taking all recommended actions. I hope no one else has to go through this. Very customer insensitive. Went to a branch on Univerity Ave in Clive IA on a Saturday some 15min before closing and they refused to have my wife open an account saying they "were tired up and were almost cosing" yet there weren't any customers apart from me another customer who was leaving as we came in. read more

Extremely hard to deal with, refusing to endorse my State Farm Insurance issued storm damage claim checks UNLESS I deposited them in a Veridian account, and came to them when I would need to write a check to the repair contractors. Downright belligerent and dogmatic in both tone and principle. All of this, when all I had was a home improvement line of credit, with a $0.00 balance. This company is a waste of your time. Doesn't send out phone calls, letters, or emails to let you know your behind on payment ( I thought I was all cought up on my auto loan payments) but will send you out a letter saying your car is up for repossession (which the letter dates 12-2-19 and I didn't receive it tell 12-10-19 and they give you only 10 days sense the letter was sent not then you receive it) and when you call they say there's nothing they can do for you when I told them I could get it all cought up by the end of the month but they are not willing to work with you at all what so ever even though I guess I'm a month and a half behind on my loan also on top of everything they are saying they now have no proof of my insurance and are charging me for that also. read more

They make changes on your direct deposit to their discretion, give you no explanation, and basically say, sorry we cant help except minus the apology. To open a CD, Veridian forces you to join Dwolla if you do not otherwise qualify for membership. Dwolla does a hard credit pull and has the right to hold onto your information for three years. After joining Dwolla, Veridian rejects your application despite your 800+ credit score and the email states that "we are unable to provide you with specific reasons why the decision was made." Then, the spam calls start coming. This is a scam that I regret having fallen for. read more

Two Words, Very disappointed! Former customer of auto loan service with Veridian Credit Union they was quick to add FORCE INSURANCE that yield additional payments of the loan and of course additional interest charges over the time of the loan. Even after proving no lapse of insurance and numerous of phones calls to Veridian auto loan department and auto insurance. They refused to properly adjust my account without leaving added interest fees. Legal has to get involved. at this point. Be very carefully when getting an auto loan servicer in another state the laws may be different. read more

Refinanced a car with these people. Everything was great and smooth until they updated their mobile app. Suddenly it starts trying to take out more money then i scheduled it to take out. I called Veridian and spoke to several people about it, one woman was extremely rude and tried to pin this mistake on me when i had the emails backing me up saying that i had only scheduled these funds to be removed ONE TIME. Not four times. So now I've paid them 1200$ off of one paycheck when it was supposed to be only 300$. Going to refinancing with someone else as soon as I can. read more

Walking in, it took only 20 minutes to set up new accounts, obtain and activate a debit card, and complete everything we needed. When asked about checks, they said they could order some but they recommend ordering online because it would cost less. I was especially impressed when they called me the next day to let me know the variable interest rate on an account had been adjusted to a lower rate than the one we discussed the day before. It's really nice to find a credit union where employees are friendly and helpful in suggesting ways for you to save money and avoid fees. read more

For a long time I was pleased with this credit union. I agree with other posters- the level of customer service has declined. Today's experience, in my opinion in the drive thru was nothing short of laughable. A near twenty year customer is treated similar to that of an alien; not a isolated example at that. This place is a joke. Loan officer did not inform me they cannot use my companies pay plan without 2 years of pay stubs or tax documents before pulling my credit and due to the fact I've only been there for one month there was no possible way I could get approved. Therefore I took an unnecessary credit hit due to the fact he was too lazy to ask me what sort of pay plan my company uses before submitting the app. Maybe he did his job correctly and just followed the necessary steps, but then Veridian should look into fixing a system that not only wastes customer time but damages their credit for absolutely no benefit. Two stars because the tellers were courteous and helpful and the loan officer was a nice guy, but the fact remains my credit took a hit that could have been avoided if he would have asked a few basic questions. read more

The bank does have great hours and very nice employees. But that's really all they have going for them. If you want windows 98 era online service coupled with a mobile app that doesn't work and requires a different username and password.. then this is the bank for you. If you want to be charged fees without the opportunity to correct for them.. then this is the bank for you. Also if you they have a few other rules and regs that would blow your mind. In closing I really loved the hours and the tellers. Everything else just got in the way of what could have been my last bank I ever needed. read more
