The markers of a successful business are growth and retention. The academy has neither. Don't let them lie to you & tell you they have a waiting list. My oldest was falsely accused of making threats with no evidence to back it up. My middle was bullied for a year and a half. It was brought to the leadership of the schools attention over & over, Ms Barb & Mr Rob took no action. My girls both left over a year behind & required 6mo of intense tutoring at Sylvan. They had been working 1-2 with Ms Barb as their tutor twice a week for an entire school year prior to us leaving. She claims to work well with dyslexic children, but she missed it in youngest completely. I brought it up more than once because I have dyslexia. From day one, the teachers and staff have been supportive, communicative, and deeply invested in each child's success -- academically, socially, and emotionally. What really sets Stetson apart is the culture they've created. The school places a huge emphasis on empathy, kindness, inclusion, and confidence-building. They support students with varying abilities, and work hard to make sure every child feels seen and valued. My kids genuinely love going to school, which speaks volumes. We also love the parent communication and transparency. Their online portal is fantastic - we can log in anytime to see grades, test scores, behavior reports (both positive and negative), their academic goals, and exactly where they are performing relative to grade level. That kind of real-time insight is priceless as a parent. Stetson is also wonderful about keeping families connected to daily life on campus. They are very active on Facebook and frequently post photos and updates so parents can see the fun, creative, and hands-on learning happening in classrooms. The field trips are amazing, and the project-based, experiential approach really keeps students engaged and excited about learning. We're actually moving soon, and honestly, I don't know how my kids are going to adjust to another school after having such an exceptional experience here. Stetson has set the bar incredibly high for what we believe a great school should be. If you're considering Stetson Academy, I wholeheartedly recommend touring and talking with other parents. For our family, it has been nothing short of an outstanding community.

There seems to be concerning…read moreissues and signs of neglect: - Leaving young children behind on campus during a trip off-campus - Taking elementary children to visit potentially unsafe locations (e.g. nursing homes that seems to house convicted sex offenders for crimes against minors) - Aggressively pushing NDAs on parents for wanting to pull their kids, preventing them from sharing specific events and experiences - Asking for full-year tuition when parents express reasons for wanting to withdraw their children (e.g. kids are struggling to adjust or if parents simply have concerns that were not addressed) - Terminating families and kicking kids out of school abruptly without providing a reason, citing "termination for convenience" in retaliation, if parents express questions or concerns about the academic setting or safety. - Giving a peanut product to a kids with allergies/intolerances - Sending utterly unprofessional emails to parents belittling their former teachers and the families who left, seemingly in an attempt to justify their actions and convince families to stay. Making strange remarks about funding challenges in such emails and claiming "they don't have an associated church to help them like other schools". - Excluding children from "rewards" or "special activities" if they didn't contribute to fundraising or if they didn't contribute enough, by setting a "goal/price tag" to certain rewards, creating division and emotional stress among children all ages. - Punishing children by not allowing them play during recess when they think they are misbehaving or not performing enough academically. - Giving children a hard time if they need to use the bathroom during class. In my personal experience, there sure is an effort for marketing, like many photos of smiling children posted on social media. But I would advise everyone to pause for a moment before signing anything. These are based on my personal experiences and the experiences that I was informed of by other parents. My opinion is that everybody should have an education attorney review the the contracts/papers provided by this place before signing anything and conduct a thorough research on these issues and talk to other parents who pulled their children.

From the moment we first stepped on campus which is now 5 years ago, it just felt different -- warm, welcoming, and full of energy. The teachers are incredible -- caring, attentive, and truly invested in each child's growth. The curriculum strikes such a great balance between strong academics and creative, hands-on learning. My daughter has grown so much in both confidence and curiosity since starting here and even visits her favorite teacher Ms. Castro. The sports programs are another huge highlight! There's such a great community spirit, and it's clear that the staff..shout out to Mr. Kennedy...values teamwork, leadership, and fun just as much as skill. What I love most is how inviting the environment is. You can feel the pride and positivity in everything from the classrooms to the playground. It's a place where kids are genuinely excited to go to school every day. I love every year they have been introducing new electives from sewing to DnD to even a T Swift club that is engaging for everyone. If you're looking for a school that blends strong academics, great extracurriculars, and a warm community -- Maryhill Midtown is a gem. We couldn't be happier.

Because we applied a bit late, we were placed on the waitlist, which we completely understood. What was disappointing was the total lack of follow-up after that point. Despite reaching out directly to the admissions officer to inquire about our waitlist status, we never received a response -- not even a simple notification that a spot was no longer available. When a family pays a $100 application fee, there is a reasonable expectation of communication and transparency throughout the process. To add to the frustration, we continued to receive marketing emails about summer programs despite never hearing back about our child's application. The disconnect between their marketing outreach and their admissions communication was striking. We can't speak to the school itself, but based solely on the application experience, the lack of follow-through left a poor impression.

Sonder Creek has absolutely been the best school for my child. We were looking at a wide variety of…read moreschools (public, non religious private, and religious private) to see what would be the best fit and I can tell you from the moment we reached out with interest, to the tour, to our child having his first 1/2 day visit there, we knew this was his school.  Staff is knowledgeable and knows my child to a depth that truly sets him up for success. It also makes me feel comfortable that they are doing everything in their power to help my child succeed and thrive. I love that they allow him to excel academically (even past his grade level) as well as support him with challenging subjects (teachers stay current with where he's at and are skilled at providing support very quickly if the child needs it while also keeping parents in the loop so we can help when needed too) while allowing him to stay with his grade level of peers so he's not only being cultivated in the classroom, but also learning to be social amongst peers his age. A big concern of mine was coming out of covid, my child wanted to so desperately make friends, but I know sometimes kids show no mercy. At Sonder Creek, overall it's been way over my expectations. Very involved parents, attentive staff that keeps you in the loop, and students who are open to connecting to one another.  My child has loved the STEM programs at school (especially the after school robotics class) as well as learning both Mandrin and Spanish (coming from an English speaking household, it's been amazing seeing him now speak another language which we will continue to encourage moving forward). He also is asking to do the after school Art program and this is coming from a child who started off barely wanting to hold a pencil correctly.  The community here is so special and you get to see that when everyone comes together. This was our first year we participated in Trunk or Treat with his school and it was such a blast; we will be doing it again next year. The international potluck is a family favorite to attend (combo of incredible foods from all over as well as mini performances from the language programs with the students is so darn adorable) and the Christmas Concert is absolutely precious. Sonder Creek is our child's school and we cannot recommend it enough.

There was little to no support or guidance from LVA to ensure a smooth transition to a traditional school environment. I was surprised to see a couple of highly positive reviews appear about a year after my son had left--reviews that appear to describe him directly. These accounts do not reflect our experience and seem inconsistent with the reality we observed. It raised concerns for me about how feedback and reviews might be represented or encouraged within the school community. It is more shocking given that the individuals concerned had nothing good to say about one another at the time. During our time at LVA, the quality of education and communication declined noticeably. What began with promise during the COVID period gradually shifted to disorganization, inconsistent teaching quality, and removal of key student resources, such as lunch and recess. I also encountered several situations where staff appeared underqualified or lacking appropriate classroom management, including questionable instructional choices that were not age-appropriate (R rated movies) More troubling were instances of unprofessional conduct and poor handling of disciplinary issues, which had lasting effects on my child's wellbeing. Several parents, myself included, raised these issues repeatedly before meaningful action was taken. To the school's credit, there were a few dedicated and talented teachers who genuinely cared about their students, and they deserve recognition. However, the broader environment was not consistently supportive or healthy, particularly in leadership and communication. In summary, while LVA may look appealing on the surface, our experience suggests that the substance does not always match the image. I encourage parents to seek out multiple perspectives and, most importantly, listen to their children's experiences before making a decision.
