I was tired of getting lied to over the telephone and the long waiting times, so I stopped into the local Verizon Store at 725 Omaha in Rapid City, SD. I walked in the door and was greeted by an employee who asked for my phone number. Seconds later I received a text on my phone that informed me that an agent would be with me shortly. Actually, I asked for no texting on my phone to prevent this very unnecissary text. I waited around about 10 minutes and finally left. Note: There were two managers (?) just standing there and three employees helping three other customers. I guess it was beneath them to assist a customer. Amazing customer service during the pandemic! I was having issues with the settings on my phone. Joe is very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. He solved my problems quickly, and offered a package where for $10 more I could add a fancy new charger to go along with my new accessories. Yesterday my mom (a senior) went to Verizon with phone charging issues. This was the 2nd time Verizon had to ship her a new phone. I wasn't there to help her and an agent by the name April was incredible. She was patient and truly cared about helping my mom. Trying to get help from this store is like pulling teeth. I tried to find out if they have a particular phone. It makes a difference because there are nine locations, each of which may or may not have my phone in the right color. Well... No one answers the telephone. Odd, I know, for a cell phone seller. Not enough staff, I guess. I've tried for two days now. That's more than enough time to expect an answer to a phone query. What does this tell me? The phone service at Verizon leaves a lot to be desired. What if I bought a phone there? Poor service. Poor response to any questions. Poor response to problems. Bottom line... I had Verixon for 10 years in Nevada, no problrms at all. Here in the Black Hills I find service weak in the mountains. When delivery and service people come out they often had two cell phones, one Verizon and one ATT. After talking to them, I got the view that Verizon was better in points East of the Black Hills but ATT was best in the Hills themselves. So I switched to ATT and six months later, glad I did. read more

The guy we dealt with was the rudest person I have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. A few times I wanted to look for a hidden camera to see if I was on some prank show. I couldn't believe his rude tone and awful comments. I almost walked out but my phone was on it's last leg and I needed the new one. I went in yesterday to look at purchasing a mobile hotspot, was even thinking of getting new phones and changing over from Sprint. when I walked in, young lady took my name and phoe number, told me it would be about a 15 minute. after about 30 minutes i asked if there was a reason the 3 or four people in the back who kept sticking there heads out to look and go back behind the devider wall were in hiding or something, i was told they were the managers, so i said fine and left, because they obviously were not concerned with my business seeing as they only wanted 2 sales people handling the 10 of us that were waiting. went to Target and got the hotspot there, am keeping Sprint, at least they offer customer service. read more

The people in the store are always extremely helpful. Unfortunately they often don't really know what they are selling and give you incorrect information. They also seem to be under instructions from the company to upsell, and as a result they will sell you things you do not want. I once was put into a contract by misdirection after I'd explicitly stated I didn't want to get into one again. ("Buy this, it's on sale" -- except by buying the item on sale I was automatically having to sign back up for a two year contract even though I was going to pay the entire sale price -- this was after I had said I didn't want to be in a new contract, and at no time did the sales person say I was going to be in a new one, I was just quickly given papers to sign.) Also when I tried to return something during the 14 day restocking period they kept refusing to take it back, until it was over the 14 day period. ("Just give it a few more days, the problem should resolve...") I had to talk to the manager about both of these issues (and pretty much flip out at him in public) to get them fixed. So basically, incredibly helpful people who, like a good con artist, will sell you something you don't want, don't need, and who will fleece you out of your money, all to the corporation's own benefit. If this had only happened to me once, I'd figure I'd just had the odd bad experience, but it's happened multiple times, to me and once to my ex. That means it's them, and their standard business practice. read more
