I hear that Radio Shack headquarters is going to have to close a few hundred stores so I'm hoping this won't be one of them. It has served me well for many years. I miss the old days when they had the battery club. LOL They gave you a card for free and you could pick out one free battery a month. They would punch the card each time you picked one up. There were some issues with the device that prevented good contact and he spent time fixing it and figuring out how to place the button batteries. He cleaned the contacts and tested the switches. I had no idea what kind of batteries were required, and Tony found the right batteries. The type of batteries required by the headbands are not easy to find elsewhere, but You-do-it had them. Tony was so patient and had the know how to fix my reindeer antler headbands, and I am grateful. I don't like to throw things out if they can be fixed, so You-do-it is a great resource. While I was there, I bought connectors to allow my new iphone to use my old headphones.

I had an ungrounded bass amplifier that blew my cab when I switched polarity to stop it from…read moreelectrocuting me, and our guitarist had a recently purchased used Fender Twin that was acting up. Cove serviced the Fender twice, only charging for parts the second time, and fixed up my head (redoing old connections, replacing some switches that were worn out, reconnecting equalizers that didn't work, and put in an internal ground) all for under $100. He also advised me on the best approach for fixing my cabinet. The current had fried the speaker cones beyond repair and he suggested some options for replacement. All told this took about a week to complete and cost much less than it would to replace the cabinet. Bonus points for his knowledge on all things related to vintage amps. If you're interested (and probably if you're not) you can get a history lesson on tube manufacturers. Maybe this is a symptom of newer musicians' obsession with tube amplifiers and lack of knowledge about caring for them, but he also went into great detail about how to keep things functioning.

A big problem I have always found with the majority of RadioShack locations was lack of knowledge on behalf of the salesperson. They seemed as if they just simply did not know much about their products or have as much knowledge as one would hope in regards to sale items and promotions. Now, I tend to only stop into RadioShack for small items, like batteries, cords, phone cases, and alike. Regarding my most recent visit, I was in and out of the store in about five minutes. I do have to give the sales girl credit for trying to get me to purchase a warranty plan for a $10 auxiliary cord. If you are a RadioShack fan, I recommend this location. Everything appears to run smoothly and the employees seem to have a little more of a clue what they are doing.
