We have done their JSCs for both of my kids this summer and have now signed up for weekly lessons. My daughter literally screamed and cried at the last place we were at and here she has had 0 tears! The water is warm so my kids are not shivering during lessons. The instructors are great and keep the kids on task and focused on the skills there are working on. I have noticed that sometimes they have a second (floater) teacher that goes to each lane and helps out as a second teacher for a few minutes and then move on to another class. At the end of each class teachers give you a little summary of how your child did. Sometimes the kids even earn ribbons for accomplishing different goals, which my kids absolutely love. I think it's a great motivator for them as well. The facility has some great added touches with amenities like an area with blow dryers, showers with soap in the pool area. It's well kept and clean. My kids are growing and becoming more confident and comfortable in the water. I could not be happier here!

Eleanor, who I believe is one of the managers, knows Saylor from seeing her, and jumped right in to save the day! Eleanor went above and beyond to make sure Saylor was comfortable, and by the end of the first makeup class, Saylor was thriving! At our next makeup class, Eleanor had Saylor's favorite toys waiting for her, and Saylor loved that, and had no tears, and was ready to swim! I just wanted to say, we have loved everyone we have worked with at Goldfish St Charles, and we definitely appreciate Eleanor going above and beyond!

My kids were swimming in the pool while I was watching them on the side and the youngest one started to struggle. It took me a few seconds to notice that he was drowning. The lifeguard on duty, "Jakob", was looking right in his direction but didn't do ANYTHING to help him, and he was holding some girl's hand. He was looking right at my drowning son and didn't say or do a thing. So I had to jump in and save my drowning son because "Jakob" failed to do his job. As long as he is on duty, my family will not be coming back, and I will tell the rest of my African brethren not to go if he is there.

One of the instructors that was subbing heard my complaints of his regression and worked more with him. She suggested doing the everyday for a week class with her. We did and he improved immensely. So much so that I did another week the following month while still keeping the Saturday. After that the Saturday class seemed a waste of time as my son was with kids still afraid to get in the water and he was floating, going down the slide by himself etc. A plus for Patti's swimming is as a parent you can sit by the pool and hear what's happening. There are only 2 classes max at the same time. As far as the gymnastics and dance go my son loves them both. He looks forward to his classes and will ask when can we go again, which is never the case for other programs. He's super excited for his upcoming dance recital and loves showing us his "moves" at home.

Literally they called me last week to cancel my class on that same call I asked if I can cancel a makeup class so I would have to wearing an almost an hour in between classes and I was told no I would lose that class. "Hold on you literally just cancelled mine but I can't cancel the makeup?" and " I have to wait around for an almost an hour for the next one?" Complete disregard for your time again as long as they get paid. It doesn't matter. We cancelled our membership immediately and are starting somewhere else next month.

After my daughter's swim class 6/26 the manager, Michael, approached me on the pool deck in front of other families & children to accuse her of being "mean" to another child and allegedly using a curse word -- based solely on another child's word, without any investigation or proper handling. My daughter was and IS the only Black child in the class, and it felt clear that she was singled out and blamed without consideration for her side. I asked my daughter on the pool deck, and in the changing room what happened. She is 6 years old and a complete sweet heart who's mean to no one. She let me know that she did not say a bad word and that she only told the girl her and her board were to close to her and to move. Fine. After that we went into Michael's office to speak to him again before leaving because I wanted a better understanding of the situation. Michael tells me the same thing again that my daughter said a bad word and it seems like it was the "A" word and the girl "didn't want to repeat it" to really let us know what that word is, mind you on the pool deck he said she said a bad word but in his office it was she said the A word. he then goes on to say that the girl said my daughter said she was to close and said to move which my daughter said she did say. Later, Michael even admitted that the kids were too close to one another and were all frustrated -- yet mine was the only child held accountable. The way this was handled was completely unprofessional, dismissive, and racially biased. There was no investigation done whatsoever just blame the only black kid in class because that makes sense to do. If your child is a minority, I strongly urge you to be cautious about sending them here. They deserve to feel safe and respected -- not unfairly targeted or humiliated in public.

I have found that there have always been programs that fit him throughout his development. The days off camps, holiday camps and summer camps have filled his days in more fun ways than we could do at home. He has grown through his participation. Staffing can be an issue at times. The more time you spend with "special" people, the more you learn to interact or intercede. Although in services and training are provided, nothing beats experience. As with all activities, I am just proactive with the aides in addressing how to interact most effectively and efficiently with my son. Many states do not offer special recreation. We are lucky in Illinois to have WDSRA. It's made a positive difference in my son's life and our family!
