We came in here with an intention and a budget. We didn't want to be sold on what the salesperson wanted to sell. We were pleasantly surprised to find a kind and accommodating sales team with nothing but options available for us to pursue. We wanted a vertical acoustic piano in black and the available stock in our price range was low. Keith (I think), recommended some other verticals in brown wood finishes, but we had our preferences. He was careful not to pressure us into anything and we ended up stumbling upon and asking about the Roland line of digital pianos. He was knowledgable and helped ease our concerns around digital versus acoustic. We ended up buying a Roland, because it met the needs of our family at the moment. Eventually, when we can move to a larger house, we'll be back here to see about getting a bigger acoustic piano! i think this place takes on a little more business than they can handle. i called to schedule a piano tuning- they were difficult to get a hold of, and the soonest available appointment was about two months out. the technician who came was very friendly and talkative, but i noticed the first time i played my newly tuned piano, that the lower register was audibly dissonant when i played chords and octaves. when i called to explain the situation, i was put off for about a week, and then met with a hard defense of the years and years of family business, the skill of the technician, the history of my piano, and basically everything you could think of to deny that i had a rushed, bad tuning. then, the best thing they could offer me was $20 off another $150 tuning session. "unless there's something i'm missing here"... i will most likely be calling someone else for the next piano tuning. read more

I made the mistake of hiring a regular moving company (who assured me they were experienced piano movers) to move my grand piano. Big mistake. Big, big mistake. They caused an unbelievable amount of damage to the black lacquer all over my piano. This is where Cordogans came to the rescue. They picked up my piano and brought it back to their shop for repair. Although they put a disclaimer on the end result, stating that there are no guarantees the damage would be 100% repairable, the end result was amazing. Even though I know exactly where to find the prior damage, there is none to be seen. Their repairs were flawless. Everyone from my contact at Cordogans to their piano technicians to their expert piano movers was super courteous and knowledgeable. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Cordogans. read more

I visited this store this past weekend and I was so impressed by the store and the staff. I have never seen a store with such a selection of pianos and the staff is so helpful, personable and knowledgeable. I went during COVID and they only have one customer in the store at a time, so making an appointment is recommended. They helped me find the perfect piano and I cannot wait until it is delivered. Cordogan's Pianoland - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Geneva, Illinois

This is my experience with Cordogan's Pianoland. They state that they will buy pianos and have instructions for doing so on their web site. Following their website instructions, I completed their electronic form for selling my piano, with the requested information and submitted it. I also photographed my piano, as per their directions, and sent the photos to their email, again, as per their instructions. I never heard back! After 10 days I called to make sure that they had received my submission. The woman who answered the phone said that she would contact the person responsible for purchasing pianos and that they would call me back soon. They never called me back. I would have liked decency to at least have received an acknowledgement of my submittal. Just ignoring me is rude and very unprofessional. I would not recommend dealing with this unresponsive company. read more

They have some beautiful pianos here! It seems like this showroom is in the middle of nowhere, but they have tons of room for many pianos. It's just what you want when you are looking. I was looking for a used piano, so my review is based on that. I went in on a weekday in the afternoon and I had a salesman spend about 45 minutes with me. He took me to the back of the store and showed me the shop where they refurbished and worked on the used pianos. He explained to me in detail what to look for, what was good and what was bad. He was VERY helpful. They have some used pianos here, but most of them are at the higher end, like Steinways. They carry mostly new pianos, including digital ones, and some of them are really nice and you pay for that. If you want a piano bar in your house, they have a great piano for that. They also have a piano with lighted keys and another one that you can hook up to your DVD player and it will play the piano music for the song that they are singing. Wonderful stuff, but that's not where I'm at. But the service here is impeccable. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 was that the salesman was really trying to get me to get a digital piano. That's not what I was looking for, but he spent lots of time going over that option with me. Besides that, I was really glad I went here. read more

Stopped by to do our due diligence while shopping for a new piano and we were really pleased. Rick spent a while with us showing us around and he was very informative but was never pushy. About a month or two we came back to check out some more new and used pianos and ended up buying a new Yamaha. They gave us a great deal and it included delivery and a couple of tunings. I'll start by saying that live in the northern suburbs and the idea of going out to Geneva wasn't originally in the cards, but I was surprised to find that after visiting all the stores in my area, and not having a good experience and not seeing a big selection anywhere, I found the chicagopianos.com website and saw so much great information, I loaded up the family and headed west. It didn't disappoint. You can tell right away this is a Chicagoland institution with a massive inventory and knowledgable people who care. Right from the beginning, I felt as ease because they actually have a children's area with a lot of activities so I could actually concentrate on having a conversation. That was a big plus. Someone from their office even came out to help entertain the kids. John ended up asking me a lot of questions that I hadn't been asked and he helped me to start to understand what type of piano I actually NEEDED. I don't play and my wife played a little as a kid but we definitely want our kids to learn, so no, we didn't know what we should buy and we didn't even know all our options were until coming here. All along, I thought I was going to buy a used piano but I surprised myself and bought a new one. In looking back, I was finally able to put my finger on why I changed gears. I didn't feel comfortable buying a used piano from any of the other stores I visited. And although I did feel comfortable buying a used one there, I bought new because the pricing was great and frankly I got tired of looking for the perfect used grand. From all my shopping and online homework, I also realized that even if I could find the perfect used piano, it didn't seem like I was going to save enough to offset the time, hassle, the shorter warranty, risk, etc. The delivery went great and the kids are enjoying their lessons. I recently visited Cordogan's Pianoland to shop for a piano. The showroom was a bit difficult to find as the address was not findable on my GPS, but they are in the middle of nowhere so have a ton of floorspace. They have an impressive collection of both new and old pianos, and even workshops for refinishing pianos, which I've never seen elsewhere. I spent several hours there test driving a lot of pianos, and my salesperson was very friendly and not pushy at all, allowing me to make a decision on my own time. I eventually found the piano for me, and I've been thrilled with it since its arrival in my home, as it both looks and sounds beautiful. I also have a great note about the customer service. After the delivery people left, I found out that where I had them place it was not where I actually wanted it (my fault). I called Cordogan's, and they actually sent the movers to me within that week to shift it for me, free of charge. If you're in the area and shopping for a piano, this is a no-brainer, definitely give them a visit! read more

It began and ended at Cordogan's. The staff's knowledge, their understanding of my needs and situation, the selection, and the SERVICE couldn't be matched. I was a person seeking a huge investment ( and a good piano is an investment, not a piece of furniture). I had waited decades to get the piano of my dreams. The staff educated me about different brands and encouraged me to play a variety of instruments for as long as I liked. I actually had fun! I felt and heard the difference in a variety of grands, without pressure from the staff to hurry and select immediately. The BEST experience upgrading our family piano! We purchased our first 'starter' piano from Cordogan's 6 years ago. When it came time to upgrading, Cordogan's was a no-brainer. We were able to trade in and trade up. Every interaction with Cordogan's was a pleasure; from Rick on the floor (he was pleasant, patient, helpful!) to Jeff for scheduling delivery (again, patient, pleasant and helpful), to delivery (careful, diligent, accommodating - they had to reposition the new baby grand twice)! Our family went to Pianoland in search of a new or used high quality grand piano. We had previously visited other piano stores and spent a fair amount of time thinking about a piano. I was not, however, confident that the drive to Pianoland would be worthwhile. My thoughts were misplaced as Pianoland is a true piano store with expert salesman, a large facility for restoring and working on pianos, and a good inventory of new and used pianos. Don't let the somewhat cheesy web site scare you away. Pianoland has what you want in a pianostore. I would avoid the "minimall" stores that lack expertice and the facility required to care and maintain pianos. Our piano guy was Rick Bell. Rick was a nice guy and (on a Saturday afternoon) spent obout four hours looking at various pianos and educating us with respect to buying a piano. Our four kids behaved relativley nicely at the store and spent most of the time looking at pianos and coloring in a special kids area. Unlike some of the other piano salesman that we encountered at other stores, it was clear that Rick is in the piano business because he loves pianos (and golf). Rick put us at ease and did not use the "hard sell" that was so common at the other piano shops (you will know what I mean after you visit a piano store or two). My wife immediately fell in love with an Estonia piano on the showroom floor.. I do not play piano - but I favored the sound of a very large Mason. We left the store and took time to think about the pianos. We determined that the Mason was really just too big for our home and my wife did additional research about Estonia pianos and visited another piano store. The Estonia is an excellent piano that is often compared to professional level pianos - but sells at a fairly reasonable price. The Estonia piano sounds great and has a very smooth and big sound. My wife and I settled on a plan and I called Rick late one weekday evening to make an offer on a new ebony polished Estonia studio grand piano. We went back and forth with Rick once or twice the next evening and we landed a great deal on a new Estonia piano. We did the final purchase all by phone. I believe that it is a great time to buy a new piano. Rick was cordial and we struck what I believe to be a very fair deal. I felt good about the pocess and do not think it could have gone any better. Our new piano is being finished and should be delivered in October. read more

What you think you know about pianos...you probably don't know enough to make the best investment when buying a piano. Cordogan's Pianoland will help you select a piano that is right for YOU, and not what other piano sellers often do--try to focus your interest on a piano that they happen to have in overstock or whatever. Think of most piano stores like used car lots. But Cordogan's Pianoland is the most reputable piano vendor you can find. And they've been in business forever. I bought my piano from them about 25 years ago. Loved it. It was a console Kawaii with such a rich quality. I hated to find a new home for it, but we we were moving from our large home in Bolingbrook to a 2 bedroom apartment in Austin. One of the owners, Johnny, worked with us as we went back and forth our minds...wanted to keep it instead of sell it back to them. He suggested storing it with them. Novel idea! We decided to pay their very reasonable storage fees until my daughter moves to a place where she can again enjoy piano-playing. Perfect solution. The piano stays in the family, and my husband and I are happily living in Texas with an electronic piano/organ (purchased from Cordogan's Pianoland of course) that fits well with our new lifestyle. My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Rick who sold us our first piano! We had called many stores and even felt misled by a few sales reps (who we felt had their best interest in mind) and from the moment I first called Rick...I knew we were going to buy a piano from him! I would've waited 6 months until the right piano came in, to buy one from Rick. After dealing with a couple reps at other piano stores...who we felt seemed to have "shady" ways of doing things, Rick was extremely refreshing.
