Instead, they told me that it "might intimidate" the other party instead of having my interest at heart (i.e. their client). The law office did absolutely nothing while on retainer. Besides "research" and telling me I had to file paperwork on my own to accomplish my goals (simple support arrangement), which conveniently we spoke about three separate times and they forgot about each time. The law office sent my personal information to an email address that was not used for communication (for 15 months prior) or indicated on the retainer that I sent them at the start of our arrangement for representation. When the email bounced back to the law office, they never reached out to me for clarification.

The firm made several mistakes during the process, which ultimately cost me both time and money. What was most upsetting, however, was the way I was treated when I asked questions or tried to understand what was going on. Instead of showing professionalism or empathy, the staff often spoke to me as if I were a nuisance and often left my questions unanswered. At one point, they even told me they are a "high-volume office" and that mistakes happen, which did not inspire confidence. On another occasion, I politely inquired about another matter, and they became so defensive that I was sent a letter stating I could find another lawyer and telling me I was being difficult. I simply asked a question, just to be sure another mistake hadn't been made. I declined only because it would have taken so much more time to find a new lawyer and get through the probate process.
