Great urban getaway amid the hustle and bustle that is McKinney. Only 20 years ago McKinney was a…read moresleepy little north Texas town that had seen it's better day. However, having always had something special going for it,the north Texas growth has breathed new life into this 10 square mile area formerly " historic" McKinney. This little lake created by forward thinking city planners is more and more a community gathering point. Just to the west is a full blown Frisbee golf course, hiking/biking trails and more. I just discovered a new addition today. A lighted walk,with music,to enjoy after dark I'll be back.

While I enjoyed the wildflowers at the park, I felt uncomfortable on the narrow hiking trail worrying about chiggers and ticks where it was hard to avoid rubbing up against plants here and there. This park seems to invite a lot of fishers and small boats. We were very happy to encounter a fisherman who had returned from a day of fishing from his highly outfitted kayak. He was kind enough to chat with us and explain some of the set up and features of the boat. We learned a lot and were thankful to find some common ground--both being from the Midwest.

We took our time and really enjoyed the luxury to just be. We saw turtles sunbathing, birds, a bobcat, and had a picnic on the boat ;-) It was a lovely experience. Charles took us to the river and picked us up. He is great; super cool guy and I can tell he knows his stuff! That made me feel confortable with canoeing. Looking forward to our next outing!

We were a crew of 4 flight attendants on a long layover in search of a day adventure. The Trinity River did not disappoint. The water level was high and a little swift at times which we enjoyed. Prepare to see many different birds and we had quite a few fish jump near our canoe. The water was just fine...we did not fear for our lives...the water was clean and what you would expect in a large city. Although you are in Dallas it seems more like a remote river out west at times. Please take heart in our review....we have traveled to every state in the country and tubed,whitewater rafted or gone canoeing in almost all of them if available. Trinity River Expeditions is a must do in Dallas...Thanks Charles!!

This large park is private, operated by the villages of Stonebridge Ranch. Any resident of the…read moreStonebridge Ranch can use this whether it's in their specific neighborhood or not. However, non-residents may not utilize the park unless they are in the company of a card-carrying resident. And I'm not a card-carrying resident. Fishing is allowed here but is catch and release only. There are also picnic areas and a playground. A small parking lot fit the sprinter van but I did not stay very long. We did the Blast River run with single kayaks. The first part of the tour was the most beautiful…read morepart. Overall the river is clean but there were some spots where trash was deposited from previous washouts. I would try a run farther up river for a better experience next time. The staff was friendly and helpful but the rental equipment is definitely well worn and some in our group had problems with adjusting their seat backs and the seat cushions were quite hard after 1 hour on a 3 hour trip.

Nice place to fish but people leave their trash, we got bass and blue gill. It was enjoyable.read more
