I have been a few times, and everytime there seems to be some sort of celebration of animal sorts, or free something or other. Its great to see a vet centre that is just a bit different and a bit more interesting than the rest. I like it here, my dog isn't so sure but thats nothing out of the ordinary, in the sigt of any vet he will collapse on the floor and refuse to move. Fortunately Pets'n'vets know exactly what to do to entice him in and make the whole process as comfortable as possible. I can even go here on Sunday!! Which is perfect for me with such a tight schedule. I have never known another vets that is open on a sunday, so thank you pets'n'vets.

He was one of a litter of nine and I knew he was the cat for me the first moment I laid eyes on him, with his big green eyes and tiny little paws. It wasn't long before Thomas was being told off for sharpening his claws on the sofa and terrorising the neighbours' dog. Over the years he's grown long ways rather than out - which earned him the nickname Linky as I think he looks a bit like a Links sausage. He sleeps in my bed with his little head on my pillow and he even escorts me to the bus stop - but I have to return him home as I worry about him getting lost along the way. Thomas is thirteen now and has brought so much happiness and I view him just as another family member. The Dog and Cat Home do such a great job rescuing and rehoming strays and unwanted animals. So if you're thinking of getting a new pet, you don't have to splash out on an expensive pedigree but can find a wonderful animal here who would be so grateful for a chance and who would would bring you more happiness than you could ever imagine. Even if you're not looking for a pet you could always pop along to the Dog and Cat Home as they're always looking for old toys and blankets along with donations of food - but be warned as it would be hard leaving without a furry friend!

We were hoping to adopt a dog from the shelter so paid it a visit to suss it out. The Scottish SPCA is a really lovely place - a bit of a lush area, and the staff were all really friendly. The dogs are all in individual kennels and you can walk around to see if there's one you like and then the staff will let you meet them. We did the tshirt test for my husband's allergies (rub a tshirt on the dog and then take him home and keep it near your face) on a dog we liked but sadly he had a really bad allergic reaction to the little guy. So despite not being able to adopt, I thought really highly of the Scottish SPCA and found the staff and environment really pleasant. Keep in mind there is a lot of barking though so it might not be a great place for little ones or people who aren't confident around dogs.

We arrived early and were taken in early, so the wee chap was glad to get out of his carrier. The girl on reception was really friendly, so our first impressions were great. The vet we seen, Susan, was really lovely. She weighed him, checked him all over, asked lots of questions about his behaviour, age etc and seemed genuinely interested in his well-being. She gave us free worming and flea treatments, which is fantastic and got him booked in for his first vaccination. Was given an appointment card too, which is handy for someone as forgetful as me. She was very patient with Stimpy's running around, trying to jump off the table and squirming. She also gave us advice on how much cover we should make sure we have, insurance-wise. They have a selection of pet things in a glass cabinet at the reception, didn't pay much attention to the prices, will have a look next time. There were collars, cat litter, sprays etc. The surgery is super clean and bright. Can't say I'm looking forward to putting Stimpy back in his carrier and watching him get a vaccination, but knowing that this is such a great surgery and that Susan is such a caring person really helps. Really glad this is our local vet!

The poor old feline has since passed away, but we are back at Hyndland again with two kittens we welcomed into our home last week. The kittens are both boys and they were in today for that dreaded surgical procedure...you know the one! To cut a long story short (sorry, horrible pun), everything went really well and the staff at the clinic kept in touch with us throughout the day about how they were getting on and when we would be able to come pick them up. When we did get them early this evening, they looked fine, if a bit dazed, and I felt like they had been well looked after all day long. It's not the easiest procedure for a couple of kitties to endure, but at least they had it done at a good place. The clinic is very busy and always well-staffed. It would be nice to see one dedicated vet each time we visit, but I realise that's just not possible in such a popular clinic. Regardless, we have consistently been pleased with the care our furry friends receive, and the rates for normal procedures are quite reasonable. I'm happy to know that our kittens have a reliable place to go for their vet services and I'd recommend them to anyone in the area. There are other vets closer to where we live, but we travel the extra distance to the Hyndland Surgery because of the excellent care they give.

I have to travel but always thought it was worth it. Today I called to arrange my annual checkup for my lizard on a Saturday and I was told as a rule, they no longer see exotic pets on a Saturday. Very strange for a vets who advertise to have "a particular interest and experience in treating exotic species" When I explained to the receptionist I cannot make the latest appointment of 5.15pm on weekdays, she simply told me I should find another vetinery clinic! I was quoted £124 which was slightly higher than my current costs. I then paid £60 for an initial assessment and went ahead and ordered the medication. When I arrived to collected i was informed that it would be £169. I queried this and was informed that they had made a mistake with the quote. The expectation that I would just swallow the 50% increase in cost ! The Vets response was that they were willing to offer a 10% discount. A complete unacceptable offer. They were at all times disorganised and high handed. I would not recommend them at all.

I rejected many establishments as substandard before going with Glenbrae! I knew I had made the right decision the second I had walked in the door and was greeted by the lovely bubbly nurse/ receptionist. She was so friendly and made the process of registering my kitties very quick and easy. There were photos all along the reception desk of the staff's pets which gave a lovely warm feeling that the staff are genuine animal lovers. I made an appointment for the cats to have their vaccinations the next day and there was no problem at all getting the appointment time I wanted. When I brought the little lovelies in the staff were cooing over them which every cat mummy loves to see! As well as giving them their injections the vet also gave them an overall health check: looking at their teeth, feeling their abdomen, listening to their hearts and weighing them. I was given lots of information leaflets away with me including one about how to give my cats' first aid e.g. treating burns, cuts, and broken bones which I found really useful. I was also offered application to the vets pay monthly scheme where you pay a small amount each month and this covers your cats' yearly booster vaccines, worm & flea treatment, an annual check-up and money off toy and food products available in the surgery. This is great if you struggle to pay a big wad of money in one go at yearly vaccine time and your pet insurance doesn't cover routine health "maintenance", only accident injury or illness. Glenbrae also have an emergency out of hour's service with Vetsnow on North Street in Glasgow which is great as pets don't always injury themselves during normal opening hours! Any follow up treatment required after the initial emergency at Vetsnow can be given by Glenbrae. As well as conventional medicine, Glenbrae also offer holistic therapies such as acupuncture and treatment for stressed pets. Cat lovers amongst you will know that cats are fussy little buggers and can become very distressed if their environment changes e.g. if you move in with your 6ft1 boyfriend who looks incredibly scary to tiny kittens, so having treatment like this available is great.

The Small Animal Hospital in Bearsden is part of the University of Glasgow and is one of the best…read moresmall animal hospitals in the world. I'm very sad to say that one of my little cats broke his neck recently and was referred to this hospital for treatment. The reception area is impressive and immaculate and there is a separate waiting area for cats and dogs to minimise the stress caused to the animals while they are waiting to be seen. In the cat waiting room there were heated pads to sit your cat on to help him relax and feel more comfortable while he's waiting to be seen! I wish people were treated as good at hospitals! My cat's initial consultation was with neurology specialist Maria Ortega and she is an absolute angel. You can check out her qualifications and experience on the Glasgow University website. She asked an abundance of questions about my cat while giving him a thorough physical examination and concluded that she would need to perform an MRI scan as well as x-rays to see the extent of the damage to my little guy's neck. I left him in Maria's capable hands and went home to sit nervously by phone. A few hours later Maria called to say that she could confirm that my cat had broken his neck and that he was coming round fine from the anaesthesia. She explained in great detail the operation she would have to perform on my cat to give him a chance of being able to walk again. It involved putting plates and screws into his little neck. Maria said she would operate on him the very next day. She called me the next day right before the operation to give me an update on how he was doing and to give an estimated time of when the surgery would be completed. She then phoned after surgery to say that it had went very well and then phoned again a few hours later to say that my cat was awake and that he had started to move his limbs again. I certainly can't fault the level of communication! Maria phoned every day for the next 3 days to tell me how my little boy was doing. She gave loads of details about what he had eaten, how his limbs were moving and how he was behaving. On the 3rd day she said he was doing so well that I could come in and visit him the next day if I liked. I literally had my coat on and was about to go out the door when she called again with bad news. She said my cat had caught pneumonia during the night and died. She had received a call from his nurse (he had his own dedicated nurse 24hrs a day) and she had rushed into the hospital to try and save him. She tried for 3 hours but eventually had to just let him pass away. I was absolutely crushed and devastated that my adorable 1 year old cat had died but I simply cannot fault the Small Animal Hospital or Maria. I have no doubt in my mind that he was given first class care 24hrs a day. It was so comforting to have Maria phone so regularly and it was excellent to be able to talk to the person who had physically operated on him. I only ever had to deal with Maria and didn't get calls from receptionists or nurses who may not have been able to give us the level of detail that Maria did and she could answer the many questions we threw at her directly! Everything was taken care of so quickly. As soon as my local vets referred my cat to the hospital we were given an appointment immediately and it all happened so quickly from then on. There was no waiting around to find out what exactly was wrong with him. He had his MRI scan and x-ray the same day we brought him into the hospital and he was operated on at the earliest opportunity possible after we'd been given his diagnosis. Overall my cat's treatment cost over £6,000 which gives you an idea of the kind of state of the art equipment which is available for the vets to use at the Small Animal Hospital to be able to rack up a bill that high!! Thank goodness for pet insurance!!

Ever since…read morewe got him over a year ago he's had terrible breathing problems, but we never thought much of it because it doesn't appear to be bothering him. Eventually we decided we should take him to the vet to see what was up. They took X-Rays and what not and sent them to here, and they told us they thought he had polyps and asked us to bring him in. We brought him in on Tuesday for a consultation and I was so impressed by this place. It's a beautiful new-looking building with an immaculate reception and loads of little consultation rooms off it. There's loads of other services as well they offer, other than just respiratory, such as oncology, haematology, neurology etc, and there's a cafe upstairs. I wish humans were made to feel as welcome in our hospitals as animals do at this place! Toby's consultation was with Brigite De Lima Dantas, who was absolutely outstanding in her care with him. He was taken in on Wednesday and we got him back yesterday, and despite her telling us she's not 100% sure it's been fixed, I'm glad that she's honest with us and that she's still working on his case to see what can be done. We were personally phoned by Brigite, which I love, because you're dealing with the person who's actually directly involved in his operation and his case, not nurses or other vets. I cannot fault this place on their level of service. Thank God for pet insurance though, or I'd be £3,000 out of pocket!

I…read morerecommend this Vets to anyone, the owner Doranne Ashley is the main vet and surgeon, and this lady knows her stuff. She is so very kind to the animals, even when they do not want to be her friend, and a bonus she is very understanding with silly pet owners like me. As you would enter Ashley's you may be greeted by vet nurse Kim who is excellent at her job, where she meticulously goes about the filling your complimentary lifetime vet history card to fill in on every visit. They will always remember you here and your pet by name which is really quite rare in this day and age even at a vet centre. They are ever so friendly, and will squeeze you in and stay late if you are really in trouble with your most precious pet. Ashley's is the best place you could ever take a four legged member of the family for first class treatment from start to finish. A little point of advice, try not to make your appointment at rush hour because roads on to this vets can get very busy around that time. Do not let this put you off, it is worth the wait and the travel time just for that piece of mind.
