The team at Veteran Chimney Sweep are so easy to work with. We had a sweep schduled for early January that we needed to reschedule based on renovations happening in our home that took longer than expected. They easily rescheduled us and didn't make a fuss even though we rescheduled only a few days before our scheduled sweep. When it comes to the service, it was so easy. The office called me a few days before to remind me of the appointment, and they showed up on time too. All I had to do was let them in and chat for a couple minutes about the service. I went back to work, and when I came down at the end I had a beautifully cleaned fireplace. Not only was the service performed, but they cleaned up all around the fireplace as well. It looked great. I definitely recommend them for your chimney needs. They even had done previous cleanings of the chimney of our house (we just moved in last year) and were able to give us updates about what they discussed with the previous owners, which was nice that they still had that info for us. They do book up quick, so I would recommend calling sooner rather than later to make sure you can get them out if you need a cleaning as soon as possible. read more

Great interactions both over the phone and in person! Al and Dennis visited our house this morning to do a chimney sweep. During their visit, I learned that, unfortunately, we have a chimney with an unusual shape and size and with limited access points! Although they were unable to clean our chimney, they were extremely polite and provided me with a clear explanation that I was able to use in contacting other chimney sweep companies to avoid this from happening again as well as recommended companies for replacing our fireplace doors -- and without any charge for their visit. Office staff was super friendly to start. They were booked up and over a month out on making reservations for a chimney sweep. But they took down my name and number. Sure enough a month later they called back and made an appointment. They came in the window of time they said they were going to. He was courteous and very clean. He even patched some mortar joints in firebox at no charge. They were very responsible and did everything they said they were going to do, and didn't try to "upsell" me on anything. This past summer I had a bird's nest in the chimney. I could not do anything until the birds were gone. I contacted Veteran Chimney Sweep. Today Al came out to do the sweep and put a cap on the vent. He was very professional and did a great job. Got the bird's nest out, cleaned the chimney and put the cap on. Even cleaned the logs (I have a gas fireplace), and relit the pilot light. We have used Veteran Chimney Sweep at both of our Royal Oak homes and have found them to be honest, affordable, and professional. Both homes were fixer uppers, and Dennis and his son basically rebuilt one chimney, added caps to both, and fixed the flashing at one house. They also cleaned the chimneys (not even sure that had ever been done at either house) and showed us how to operate the wood burning fireplaces in a non-condescending way. Excellent experience today. Al showed up on time and got right to work on the two fireplaces in my new-to-me home. One fireplace had never been used and so did not require a sweep. Al provided me with instructions for this wood burning fireplace and even provided the name of the wood company that he recommends. My gas fireplace did require a sweep. Cloths to protect my home we're out down immediately upon entry and there was no mess when finished. Al started up the fire and showed me what to do. They did an excellent job on cleaning and repairing my chimney, it was refreshing to have a father and son team working together. They inspected, cleaned and repaired my 40 year old chimney in less than 2 hours. They also provided me with a education about the chimney and how to best use it and the education I got regarding using the wood properly and proper storage, was just awesome. We have been using this company (Dennis) for several years, and I could very honestly give 6 stars. Each year, he cleans our chimneys, gives advice regarding maintenance, makes minor repairs as needed, gives referrals for larger masonry projects, and has sold us equipment at fair prices. I would say he is perfect for higher end customers, and/or those who demand and respect honest, high quality service...and feel good about paying a reasonable price for it. I don't mean to imply that this company is overpriced, but rather appropriately priced for expert service. Dennis works slowly and carefully, taking care not to make a mess of the house. When he leaves, you can't tell anyone was ever there...and chimney cleaning is a messy business. We also really appreciate the kind, professional woman who answers the phone when you call. This is a nice touch, and differentiates A Veteran Chimney Sweep from most trade/service businesses. As close to perfection as you can get. Highly recommended. read more
