This VA used to be outstanding and filled with amazing individuals who went to great lengths to…read morehelp Veterans but now it's fallen far from grace and trying to get the help thats needed is a cumbersome mess. We've tried every approach but after reaching a boiling point and after trying to find out who the director of this hospital is, it turns out there isn't one. The current acting director is no longer managing this hospital. They've gone through 3 or 4 acting directors within a year and none have stayed. In the free for all and anarchy that remains, the poorly qualified supervisors who are in charge are not training staff to use phones or computers properly. The people on the phones are very hard to understand, and for elderly veterans it's an outright nightmare. Staff hang up on patients while working with their supervisors, no one knows what department is which, people entering appointment data will often make conflicting appointment times based on location so you miss 2 or 3 appointments since logically you can't take a telehealth call, be in Bedford and Boston within 15mins all at the same time. If you do get transfered correctly most departments go straight to voicemail and often wont call back unless you're lucky that the qualified person, whether it be a nurse, doctor or specialist gets to the message first. They even forget to set up travel for patients who need it, this isn't the fault of the travel department. This is not the fault of the doctors, or the nurses, or the specialists, they have to deal with this madness of staff in between who are neither qualified nor trained to be where they are. The qualified people have to live in fear of backlash for complaining about these unqualified hires who makes things a terror for both Veterans and the people there to help them. From the complete apathy of the staff, they clearly aren't hiring veterans anymore. It makes me sad to know this location has completely fallen apart and the Veterans who fought for this country have to struggle with such extremes in order to get basic treatment.

I've worked here and I've been a patient here for 10 years. Everything takes so long to do here. Wastes people's time. Want to pick up medication? Better plan at least an hour or longer of your day. Something always goes wrong at this hospital. A small caveate is that there are a few good people that work here and understand, but there is nothing they can do. The good ones dont stay long. The other hospitals in the area dont want to be associated with Bedford cause its so bad.

While this place on its own is rather nondescript, they host a banging party on the waterfront. I…read morehighly recommend a "Dancing on the Charles" event during the summertime. My gripes are that they tend to play more techy house music, and I like the deep stuff, and that the concrete patio isn't good on the ankles. Though the worst thing was the lack of bartenders. Like um, one. The queue was out the door. People were buying six packs so they wouldn't have to keep waiting in line for half an hour. BETTER SYSTEM! Also, they really need to get rid of the horrible orange plastic fence that obstructs the view of the gorgeous, moonlit river. I understand they don't want people to sneak in, but then just extend the fence to the water on either side. I doubt you'll have anyone swimming to enter, eh? But how can you beat grooving under the moon and stars alongside running water? Exactly. You can't.

No no no.. please don't put anymore dance nights on here please. I appreciate the idea - dancing…read moreoutdoors by the river, away from the public, somewhere cool and grungy. But let's say we start with 5 stars for that idea - well, we end up getting down to 1 star because: ::: -1 star ::: Concrete floor that destroys your ankles after 45 mins of serious dancing. Somebody hyelp, get me an ankle doctor. ::: -1 star ::: Location that really sucks when you want to move on. To where? How? Taxi! TAXI! Anyone? ::: -1 star ::: Volume gets turned down to itty bitty level at 12.45 so that if you want to seriously ass shake, you have to occupy a small area within 8ft of one of the two speakers to be able to feel the music ::: -1 star ::: Bar that although ridiculously cheap, is a huge nightmare - it's run by grumpy old boston guys who find any excuse not to serve you, revel in stacking up large lines, close early for no reason and just chat with their pervy buddies (one proudly announced to me he was a 'Tits Man' as he was staring at the girl beside me's boobs). It could be so much better. Maybe if I bring a hipflask, nike air max and my own ipod I'll have a good time here. I only went for the Thunderdome that sucked so maybe it can better on other nights.

Because cards are often associated with poker and blackjack, the existence of a Bridge Club blew my…read moremind. There is a secret network of card rooms throughout the world where strangers can walk in and play some cards. The Bridge Spot is located in a typical suburban office park, in the same building as travel agents, lawyers and dentists. We went on Wednesday night for the "Goodtimers Game", a "relaxed duplicate game" where "We even allow questions during the game if you are stuck!" At 6:15, there is a Bridge Brush Up lesson, which costs $10 per session but includes free entry to the Goodtimers Game. We arrived a few minutes late but would probably have been lost even if we showed at the start. The lesson was in the middle of a series on rebidding after the partner's response. The instructor sort of yelled at people who asked question, but the Rabbi had come close a few times. Because bridge bidding is a logic puzzle that depends on all the past bidding, there is definitely such a thing as a stupid question, one that reveals you missed all the signals that came before. But everyone was really friendly, especially when they learned we were duplicate virgins. The crowd was younger than our group. Competitive bridge, rather than social bridge, is still a young man's game. The game reminded me of my first time playing tournament poker in a real casino. But while poker tables have dealers to keep everyone in line, bridge requires more self-policing. It was fun though to bid silently with cards that prevent avoid any random noises that could be used for secret communication. I felt good after we set the other team at our second table. We played against a lot of couples who clearly did not have the same "no getting mad ever!" rule that we observe. But when we got the results, we still finished dead last. I wasn't shocked as many of other opponents were making impressive hands. The problem is that we did not take advantage of hands we were supposed to make. I was only the declarer once, I bid 2 NT and couldn't make it. Looking at the results, it is still not clear if I bid it wrong. On one other trick nearly every player in my seat made 3 hearts, but we let the other team have it for 1 diamond. My partner was made she had to be the declarer four times, but she went an impressive 2 for 4. My biggest complaint, for all the times I was the dummy, I never once got to visit the snack bar. The Bridge Spot did not have snack bar.
