Members (or their close family members) served in the military. Post 79 in Zionsville has been here for many years. The Legion members volunteer their time and engage in a number of civic activities. They provide support and lobby for veterans. During our visit, they were preparing to honor local Vietnam veterans. They sponsor local youth athletic teams. They play taps at veteran funerals and much, much more. The Zionsville Post has a small pub that serves meals and beverages and is open to the public. The dining room is super clean with interesting displays and several memorials. They also have a few games, tv monitors, and vending machines. The facility is smoke free. This was our first visit. Our server, Stephanie, was sweet and attentive. She made recommendations from the menu. My husband had the Breaded Pork Tenderloin, which he said was excellent. I had the Fried Chicken Salad which was made with iceberg lettuce, eggs, really nice grape tomatoes, cukes and Fried Chicken breast. The money all goes to good causes. While you are there, you can thank someone for their service and hear their story. They offer special meals and events throughout the month including a karaoke night. There is a full bar.
