My 20 month old enjoyed looking at the cars and tractors and rode in the stroller almost the whole time. I would say this museum is good for ages 3 and up (probably why under 3 has free admission!) We started inside and then explored the outdoor grounds, which were very spacious and clean. We also ate at the cafe, which was ok but in my opinion had low food quality as the corn dogs were undercooked and was a bit expensive for its quality of food. There are many add ons to your experience that we didn't do this time because we didn't think they would be great for our toddler (earthquake simulator, movie, 3D show, observation deck). We enjoyed the park overall but we were expecting more of the exhibits indoors.

Fortunately when the earthquakes occurred there was not many people living in this region and it was before technology. These are 2 things missing that would provide background and documentation to make an interesting story and museum. For $5 it is worth a quick pit stop if traveling through, a definite must if living in the region. A great walkway with viewing platform juts out from the levee for a great view of the Mississippi river next door.

Housing a small collection of regional artifacts; informative displays about the life and everyday items of the indigenous people. A reconstructed Mastodon (a replica from a cast) stands in the entryway, a number of real fossils are on display. "Old Town Arkansas" is a walkthrough display of shops and offices from the early 1800's. This is a kid friendly place with a number of interactive displays and activities. If you don't expect this to be the MET, you will not be disappointed. Yes it is a small place but I really enjoyed the visit and will follow the website to see future exhibits.

My wife and I are vacationing at the Pickwick Landing State Park, TN and decided to visit the…read moremuseum. It's small, and we didn't have high expectations, but we were pleasantly surprised. It covers the gamut of the river's lifetime, all the way back to pre-historic times when the Mississippi River Valley was an ocean. There are a variety of fossils and brief but well-written and informative placards describing everything. Not too wordy, but just enough to get the point across. The next room shows the development of the native (pre-western) cultures and it's really quite fascinating. Then comes the white man and the genocide (they don't say it quite that way). It even gives fair time to the Trail of Tears, including the fact that the Supreme Court ruled against President Jackson and he just ignored them. Then on to the civil war and the post war economic boom. One thing Wanda and I were surprised by is that this area of the Tennessee River is uniquely rich in fresh water mussels and became the main source of fresh water pearls and "pearl" buttons in the US. They would cut round pieces right out of the shells, polish them and turn them into buttons. It was really cool. It doesn't take too long to tour and is well worth the stop. The staff is friendly and the surrounding Savannah historic district makes for a nice walk afterwards with several nice little restaurants.
