THANK YOU to the ENTIRE staff at this VEG location for saving my puppy Bruce Lee's life. I thought he was feeling sick because he had a little piece of banana but he actually tested positive for Parvo virus. I was absolutely horrified when I heard his diagnosis especially after losing my soul dog a couple of months prior. Angie at the front desk helped with my emotional roller coaster tremendously and so did every single person in this place. The Dr's and staff here truly care about your pet and do everything they can to help and get you through a terrible situation. I am beyond thankful for them all and I will forever be in debt to this place. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving my parvo puppy. God bless you ALL. Love, Bruce Lee's Mom

As I settled in for the evening to brew some tea, I failed to take into consideration the possibility of my cat running across the stovetop. As I entered the kitchen and locked eyes with the cat, it was one of those moments where you know it's all going to go wrong. Sure enough, he gets spooked and stomps right onto an electric burner. After some language I won't mention here, I found the cat cowering under the bed. His back paw was severely burnt, so I placed a call to the ER vet. Now, in years past, VECC pretty much had a monopoly on 24/7 animal care, and I've unfortunately had to make trips there over the years, but this place is superior. While I'm sure VECC would have provided the same care, they are more transactional, whereas VEG is more compassionate and transparent (literally). I was able to fill out the intake information prior to my arrival, so the moment I walked in, they knew who I was and why I was there. Dr. Swire quickly took the case and put together a plan of action. While a burnt paw wasn't necessarily the highest priority of the evening, the doctor, nurse, and tech all made time to visit and keep me updated on the process. All the while, I had my cat by my side keeping him calm in a strange environment, whereas most vets take the cat away and leave you wondering. Finally, the time came and he was whisked to the operating table. Luckily for the little guy, he has limited feeling in his hind legs to a neurological condition, so the team was able to shave off the burnt fur and dress his wounds with no fuss. Overall, I'm glad this place has opened up. Of course, it's never really a place you want to find yourself, but if you have to decide between this emergency vet, or the other mentioned above, this is the one to come to.

My sweet kitty Arwen had a medical emergency yesterday evening, 4/14/2026. Everyone was so kind and compassionate and showed so much love to us as we had to say goodbye to our fur baby.

My wife and I did not know that on Sunday 9/28 we would be saying goodbye to our loyal and beloved dog THOR. In the late afternoon THOR had a major stroke. We rushed him to the Veterinary Emergency Group on Rampart. Upon arrival, the team quickly responded by transporting THOR from our vehicle into the facility. They were prompt, supportive, attentive and most importantly, loving during a moment of absolute emotional upheaval..... It quickly became clear that due to neurological concerns that this would be THOR's final day with us. We made a very tough, but responsible and loving decision to "let him go quietly into that good night." It is important to note that I spent a large part of my career working with animals within local municipalities. In my experience, the team at Veterinary Emergency Group was among the most professional I have ever experienced. The genuine care they showed us and our THOR was top notch throughout this very tough process. From the veterinary care, to euthanasia and cremation, the entire process was flawless and made us feel special. West Coast Pet Memorial Services is where they sent THOR to be cremated. They too treated us very well and kept us informed through every step. This is indeed a very sad time for us. We are grateful that Veterinary Emergency Group was there for us. We are forever grateful and from the bottom of our hearts thank you. Well done team. Truly, well done. Scott & Gina and of course THOR

Had to bring my Coco to VEG due to possible hip and back injury. I chose this place again since they treated us so great the year before due to another emergency. Coco was very anxious at today's visit, but Dr Hagan and the team did amazing in trying to help her feel safe and even provided her with a yummy treat. They were very comprehensive in their examination and provided in depth explanation on her treatment. Definitely my #1 choice for animal ER visits!

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. From the time I stepped out my car, in the parking lot I was welcomed by the medical staff. As soon as I walked in I felt like everyone knew us & they took care of my baby right away. Everyone was so knowledgeable & they walked me thru every step of treatment for my baby. I am so grateful to have found this place. Dr Katherine (or Catherine) is THAT GIRL!

That is exactly what we found with Dr. Woulter Bolsenbroek, DVM. Our dog, Willow, had developed severe gastrointestinal complications after an adverse reaction to a generic antibiotic prescribed for an elbow infection. After seeing alarming black, tarry stool with blood, we immediately sought emergency care following an appointment with our local veterinarian. Willow was ultimately diagnosed with Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (HGE). From the moment Dr. Bolsenbroek walked into the room, we knew Willow was in capable hands. He was calm, professional, exceptionally knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. Despite working in a busy emergency and critical care setting, he never made us feel rushed. He patiently answered every question, explained Willow's condition in terms we could understand, and made sure we were comfortable with every decision throughout her treatment. What impressed us most was his honesty and integrity. In today's world, it's easy to worry about unnecessary testing or expensive treatments. Dr. Bolsenbroek recommended only what Willow truly needed, nothing more. Every diagnostic and treatment had a clear purpose, and he took the time to explain the reasoning behind each one. That level of transparency built immediate trust. We also want to recognize Carrie, one of the veterinary nurses, whose compassion and dedication to Willow's care were outstanding. Additionally, Catlyn and Betty at the front desk were welcoming and eager to help from the moment we arrived. Although no one ever wants to need emergency veterinary care, we left feeling incredibly grateful. Willow is now on the mend thanks to Dr. Bolsenbroek's accurate diagnosis, thoughtful treatment plan, and exceptional medical care. If you ever face a veterinary emergency, I cannot recommend Dr. Woulter Bolsenbroek and his team highly enough. They combine clinical excellence with genuine compassion, communicate every step of the process, and practice medicine with honesty and integrity. That combination is rare, and it made all the difference for our family and for Willow.

We were put in a room and waited for hours without even a brief exam to rule out something so serious. I understand emergency hospitals can get busy but there was no sense of urgency, very little communication and the overall attitude from the staff felt indifferent and unwelcoming. After waiting for hours, I made the difficult decision to leave because I genuinely felt like I was losing precious time with my dog. We drove to another emergency animal hospital, where the staff immediately assessed her and treated us with kindness and compassion. Thankfully, it turned out to be GI irritation and not bloat. If we had stayed here any longer and it had actually been bloat, the outcome could have been devastating. No pet owner should be left sitting for hours wondering if their dog has a life threatening condition without even a quick initial assessment. Based on my experience, I would not trust this hospital with another emergency.

We rushed him in when he ate some of his bone and looked like he wasn't properly breathing. He got extremely lethargic, started shaking and worried us enough to scoop him up and put him in the car at 10pm to bring him here. As soon as we walked in the staff welcomed us at the door and buzzed us in. They took his vitals right away and looked at his gums which were still pink so that was all good signs they said. His temperature was good, too. We then were asked to wait on the couch with him till the doctor could come talk with us. As we were sitting there, another poor doggie was rushed in with an emergency more important for sure so the vet was focused on him. Which was totally fine! As we were sitting there, Eddie stopped shaking and seemed like he was getting better, thank god. The vet did eventually come over to us and she was so nice. Dr. Kat. She explained that she felt like he seemed pretty normal and that sometimes that can happen and we did the right thing bringing him in and if it happens again we can bring him in again. She told us there was no charge for the visit, which was SO kind. We definitely were expecting to pay something for them checking him, but she said we were good to go. It was so kind of her. Definitely a five star experience. Every single staff member was so nice and just seeing them interact with the other doggie patients, you can tell everyone here really cares and loves what they do, helping animals. Hopefully we don't have to come back haha, but if we do need to go to an emergency vet, this one will definitely be it.

I work late so I don't usually get up until 8 and I never get calls from businesses that early so that was a surprise. Also, when we arrived, we were ignored for over 10 minutes. A blonde girl greeted us, sure. But she spent the rest of the time shuffling papers and greeting the tall man who walked in after me. He was helped immediately by the short, surly and curly haired brunette girl who wound up helping me 5 minutes after the blonde ran away (and never came back.) The curly haired girl (not sure what she was doing at her computer), didnt start offering to help me until an African American girl came out from the back to tell me to move to the side so she could help the people who just came in. Reminder that I waited for over 10 minutes before anyone helped me at all. *big side eye* because I had an appointment & all I needed to do was check in. Took her 2 seconds to push a button and tell me I could go to the waiting area. How hard was that? Meanwhile people behind me were being helped right away. Even the tall man stood there watching and judging. Wonder if he was thinking what I was thinking, which was: how rude. The vet assistant was sweet and nice, on the other hand, and gently took my pup to the back for her test. All of my interactions with her were positive and pleasant so I'm thankful for that. I like the receptionists at my current vet. They are nice and friendly and know how to give paying clients good customer service, something the 3 women I encountered at the front desk here are lacking. (My vet doesn't do titers so I was forced to look outside.) The receptionists at this place need to do some training in customer service because I'm not sure what the deal was with them overlooking me and helping other people who came after me. Also, took 2 more stars off because we were there for a rabies titer test, which they charged me over $500 for. After the fact, I decided to call around and most vets I call charge $200-ish so I feel ripped off. Not a good feeling to have. They did the bare minimum of what we needed but we won't be back.

My experience after 12 years as a client…read more I rarely write reviews like this, but after what happened with my dog Juliet, I feel obligated to share my experience so other pet owners know how important it can be to seek a second opinion. I had been taking my pets to Pebble Maryland for approximately 12 years, so I trusted them tremendously. Juliet, my 10-year-old Pomeranian, developed persistent sneezing, nasal discharge and difficulty breathing normally. I brought her in and she was prescribed antibiotics for 10 days. When she didn't improve, I brought her back and she was placed on two stronger medications for another seven days. After more than 20 days, Juliet was still sick and not acting like herself. Despite multiple visits and antibiotics, dental disease was never presented to me as a possible underlying cause. I was instead referred to a specialist, where I was facing the possibility of thousands of dollars in additional testing/procedures. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion from another veterinarian before proceeding. That veterinarian immediately suggested evaluating Juliet's teeth because dental disease can affect the nasal cavity. Juliet underwent a dental procedure, and they discovered significant dental disease and a large amount of pus in her nasal area. A biopsy was taken because there was concern that the damage could potentially be from a serious bone infection or even cancer. Waiting for those biopsy results was terrifying. Thankfully, Juliet's biopsy came back CANCER FREE. The problem was dental-related. After having the dental issue addressed, Juliet is now hyper, happy and acting like herself again. I cannot describe the relief I feel--but I'm also incredibly disappointed and emotional knowing that I trusted the same veterinary practice for 12 years and that this possibility was never brought to my attention during this ordeal. I understand that veterinarians cannot diagnose every condition immediately and that medicine isn't always straightforward. My issue is that after Juliet failed to improve following multiple courses of antibiotics, I wish someone had considered or discussed her dental health as a potential source before referring us onward. I'm sharing this because I want other pet owners to know: if your animal isn't improving and something doesn't feel right, please don't be afraid to get a second opinion. Getting one changed everything for Juliet. I'm incredibly grateful that she is cancer free and feeling like herself again, but unfortunately, after this experience, I have lost confidence in Pebble Maryland and will not be returning.
