There's multiple events held here monthly, including The Slide Society's line dance classes on Thursday nights at 6PM, which I really enjoy! In addition to this, there's also the barbershop and school that lives here, a healthy food prep restaurant I think, various community classes, and even the "Connections That Count" events that take place at 5 PM every first Wednesday that target, various themes and aim to build a better community (ABC) through fellowship and networking. There's really so many great things to say about the Dunbar and community events that occur here! Definitely worth checking out.

Currently it serves as a community center, a school, a barber academy, and it rents space out to artists and dancers and educators and even a publishing house! They have some great community programs and I was there for the Free Vegan Cooking class. The speaker, I believe her name is Rosie Kennedy, was great; equal parts knowledgeable and warm and engaging. She broke down a topic that can be daunting and demo'd a couple of recipes. Highly recommend signing up for any of her future programs if they (hopefully!!) have them. The space itself is not great for a cooking lecture because it's not a kitchen. The speaker did an amazing job, especially with all the constraints but she could have really benefitted from a more functional set-up. The room feels like its seen better days but they do have this super cool canvas wrapped around 2 of the walls that documents the history of the local African American community and the Dunbar. All in all I really appreciate having this resource in the community and look forward to their future programs!

But I want to let others know about our experience because I want to make sure it does NOT happen to future brides. I think this will mostly be about things that went wrong. And we did express our complaints to the owner but did not receive a sincere apology. Again, these are OUR issues and hopefully they can be corrected and improved in the future. *The barn door jammed for my sisters first look for her bridesmaids. Ruined moment. *The coordinator was very nice and did help us a lot in the bridal suite. But when it came to having things ready it was not so put together. She did not have ready the "Aras" or "Lazo" which is part of our tradition when getting married. When the time came, we stood there for a good 5-10 min before my mother had to run and go find it to which then the coordinator brought up. No one made an announcement or apologized. Then she pretty much disappeared the rest of the night. *I barely made it to the entrance song because it was not announced for the bridal party to gather. * The DJ RUINED their first dance because he played the wrong song and did not apologize. We gave him a whole set list to play of which NONE of the music was represented. He only played one line dance song where he got out on the dance floor but that was it. And coming from a Hispanic family, he did not play ANY Mexican music. Half the wedding did not dance at all. He did not announce any events so we did not know when cake cutting was happening or if things were placed out. For guests to view. Guests book signing, momentos to take home were not touched because no one knew about. *We had a High school mariachi band come play during dinner but then after they were somehow allowed to go into the bridal room and just "hang out"??? I don't know who said they could go back there but I was shocked when I went to get something and they were all lounging around our personal items!? I mean bras were thrown and everything back there! That was a big issue for me. Not appropriate. *When dinner came we had ok'd all guests to be allowed to have both entrees. I find out later that one side was offered only a choice instead of both! We had so much food leftover because of this! And the food was not as good as at the tasting. *The bar had pre made cocktails in pitchers instead of making them individually, so they were very strong. And if you had a drink, you had to drink it quickly because they'd come around and pick it up even if it was still full! Such a waste of all our bought liquor and beer. *They allowed guests in the ballroom while we were trying to take pictures of the bridal party so we had to have them go back out which was embarrassing. Then when we requested the guests to enter earlier after photos due to the weather it took another hour to make the announcement. *Not enough cocktail hour food! *Wedding party did not receive any snacks for cocktail hour. *The backdrop in the Photo Booth was not even up! It was supposed to be a newspaper setting and it was just a black curtain. *Not enough dessert and they were serving in paper boats that my uncle had provided for his nachos bar. *They had very young people serving who did not know how to serve or plate. *DJ did not announce the last dance!!!! They missed it and by then everyone had gone because the music sucked. AGAIN, just our experience but I hope those who take time to read this will be appreciative and take time to make sure everything goes how they expect it. And have a boss or someone you trust in charge of the little things to stay on top of them because they didn't seem to care much after they were paid. They were given programs to know exactly how we wanted things to go and they did not deliver.

Some delicious horderves and drinks were being served before the ceremony. The area is at the base of Sombrero Peak so the west setting sun is blocked by the peak so a 5 o'clock wedding is perfect without being under the blazing sun. Indoor dining is served with a table by table help yourself dinner. The space is elegant and comfortable and provides a great dining experience with a variety for the bride and groom speeches and then dancing. Did I mention plenty of parking. The staff, the views, the professionalism was definitely a 5 stars.

The bad part is that it doesn't sit high enough for you to enjoy the complete screen. My guy was not happy trying to watch the movie when the cars parked in front of us blocked 25% of the screen. The parking situation could be better if they staggered the cars a bit and didn't over crowd the area. Social distancing was not done here. I will say this, they have air conditioned restrooms which were a most welcome site! A nice surprise. Overall, it was ok. My guy says we will not be back. 2 stars for air conditioned bathrooms.

This is the perfect venue for a wedding or a retreat such as the retreat that I attended. There are fountains, benches, green grass.... Yes you Native Tucsonian's you heard me right: GREEN GRASS! and the birds are constantly singing songs and prancing around through the numerous water fountain features. It is so peaceful and I felt as if I were in the mountains isolated away from the city. If I were planning a wedding, I would certainly come back to this place. The owners are gracious and very accommodating. They even have a special dressing room for the bride to be. Also, there are two kitchen areas, one for serving and the other for preparing any food items. When our retreat was over, several of us were actually invited to go back down a dirt road and look at the horse stables. One of the employees said they might be planning to provide some horseback riding adventures in the near future. You may want to call and check out all this lovely facility has to offer. I certainly will when I'm thinking of something special for my friends and family!

Still, the service was good, the place was packed, and it was great getting caught up with an old friend. The fresh fruit was a nice touch! I hope to return to try the Filipino tea experience.

The property is beautiful and well-maintained. Our guests in particular loved the desert views and taking pictures on the rooftop during cocktail hour. We also appreciated the pricing and flexibility of their packages, and the wide availability of linens, napkins, and other decor items included in the price of the package. Our venue coordinator Cecilia was easy to work with. She was always responsive when we had questions and made the process a lot less stressful. The day of the wedding went incredibly smoothly! Everything was set up as expected, and any minor logistical issues that arose were handled fast and professionally. We chose the Sonoran BBQ menu, and our guests really seemed to like it. Overall, we had a great experience throughout the process and would definitely recommend Saguaro Buttes to anyone getting married in Tucson.

The reason for one star: they ruined our sand ceremony keepsake. Once the reception started our gifts, cards and sand kit was placed inside. Once the party was over they lock up. Understandable it's someone's home. That's when I realized our sand kit with our sand keepsake was locked inside. I asked if we can go grab it and they refused. Ok again I understand that it's someone's house but none of the staff or anyone working there offered to go back inside and grab it. I asked when can we get it and They said Monday! Wedding was on a Saturday and We're from Phoenix so it's a bit of a drive. So we drive back to the mansion to pick it up and they left the box on the porch. I grab it and opened it up and they had turned the box upside down so the sand was falling out and it got all mixed up! Now every time I look at our keepsake I'm reminded of how terrible they were to us and how they had no consideration for our belongings. Just throw it outside on the porch. It is all inclusive so the price includes most of the vendors you need but most importantly they do not charge you all of the little extras like cutting the cake and uncorking the wine. The facility is fabulous. Would recommend this venue over and over again.
