There's multiple events held here monthly, including The Slide Society's line dance classes on Thursday nights at 6PM, which I really enjoy! In addition to this, there's also the barbershop and school that lives here, a healthy food prep restaurant I think, various community classes, and even the "Connections That Count" events that take place at 5 PM every first Wednesday that target, various themes and aim to build a better community (ABC) through fellowship and networking. There's really so many great things to say about the Dunbar and community events that occur here! Definitely worth checking out.

Currently it serves as a community center, a school, a barber academy, and it rents space out to artists and dancers and educators and even a publishing house! They have some great community programs and I was there for the Free Vegan Cooking class. The speaker, I believe her name is Rosie Kennedy, was great; equal parts knowledgeable and warm and engaging. She broke down a topic that can be daunting and demo'd a couple of recipes. Highly recommend signing up for any of her future programs if they (hopefully!!) have them. The space itself is not great for a cooking lecture because it's not a kitchen. The speaker did an amazing job, especially with all the constraints but she could have really benefitted from a more functional set-up. The room feels like its seen better days but they do have this super cool canvas wrapped around 2 of the walls that documents the history of the local African American community and the Dunbar. All in all I really appreciate having this resource in the community and look forward to their future programs!

With great care driving during 5 pm rush hour traffic congestion entering the event venue the valet parking offered made the arrival and limited parking much easier . I chose to attend to view the historic 1901 venue Stillwell House and Garden to experience with great anticipation snd high expectations as seen and read in many positive Yelp reviews. Our Tucson Yelp GM Isabella J. has touted this venue as one of her favorites which I have not visited before and lived up to said expectations in ambiance , efficiency , and enjoyment. Just a block south of Charro Steak and del Rey Seafood on south 5th avenue on the corner lies this large party venue . Not surprising the venue is owned and part of the large and local Si Charro group growing empire of restaurants in greater Tucson Arizona and beyond. Entering the large center courtyard the Stillwell house was highly decorated and lite up tastefully as a December Holiday party with over a hundred people celebrating a yearly party for the Presidio Group. began in the bar area. Hors d'oeuvres of meatballs & mini chimichangas in one area and large guacamole building table all fully staffed and foods presented colorfully by the Si Charro kitchen on site. In another corner by the bar had hot Mexican chocolate and cafe de ola . And in another corner was a huge cookie table with gingerbread houses and a large gingerbread cookie character anchoring the table filled with sweets . I was impressed with the large comfortable space accommodating this somewhat large crowd very comfortably . The large staff fully attended to the guests every need . After approximately an hour the gathering was surprisingly moved to the north side two story building adjacent to the the patio for a buffet dinner with festive green corn tamales , chicken mole , & prime rib with a bean medley, rice , tortillas , & tossed salad again fully staffed with friendly and efficient servers . Impressive were the seasonal colors and character added to all the food presented to celebrate and garnish the food for the winter solstice holiday season . The green corn tamales and chicken mole were especially tasty as was all the food presented. Following dinner the guests moved back to the patio and bar areas for the cookie table , Mexican hot chocolate & cafe de la ola awaiting a raffle of prizes patrons hoped to win. . Everyone was a winner with small bags of cookies professionally personalized the Presido Group Wealth Management logo for everyone to take home . I can now see why this is a popular wedding & other event venue in this historic large setting . The staff , food , decor ,and setting makes such events quite memorable. I mainly came to make a short visit to experience the venue, during the event my nfl football team the Lions where playing an important Thursday night game with playoff implications. Although I asked in advance if a tv was avaiable only an extremely small tv was hidden and off in the top corner of the bar. If wanted I could follow the game on my phone , but I did not . The food,drink," business friends , & festive historic setting enticed me to stay longer for most of the 2.5 hour early evening event rather than leaving early as pre planned . I couldn't resist staying for the dinner portion catered by Si Charro on site and throughly enjoyed the whole event & Stillwell House and Garden experience. It's now obvious why this is a most popular event location for your complete party venue needs. A true historic local gem" in downtown Tucson. I would consider using Uber or Lyft transportation Uber again at that busy time downtown . I'm told there's a parking garage nearby , the on street parking was full , but the valet parking made arrival much easier,thank you. ( I was told the Stillwell House & Garden has been under the same family ownership since 1901 but cannot confirm they fact ) That said historic 1901 historic Stillwell House and Garden experience is another " feather in cap " so to speak for our downtown city of gastronomy & Si Charro groups ever growing and expanding culinary & social experience.

First I would like to say that it is a beautiful spot and you can't deny the view! That's why my…read moresister and her husband chose it for their wedding December of 2025. But I want to let others know about our experience because I want to make sure it does NOT happen to future brides. I think this will mostly be about things that went wrong. And we did express our complaints to the owner but did not receive a sincere apology. Again, these are OUR issues and hopefully they can be corrected and improved in the future. *The barn door jammed for my sisters first look for her bridesmaids. Ruined moment. *The coordinator was very nice and did help us a lot in the bridal suite. But when it came to having things ready it was not so put together. She did not have ready the "Aras" or "Lazo" which is part of our tradition when getting married. When the time came, we stood there for a good 5-10 min before my mother had to run and go find it to which then the coordinator brought up. No one made an announcement or apologized. Then she pretty much disappeared the rest of the night. *I barely made it to the entrance song because it was not announced for the bridal party to gather. * The DJ RUINED their first dance because he played the wrong song and did not apologize. We gave him a whole set list to play of which NONE of the music was represented. He only played one line dance song where he got out on the dance floor but that was it. And coming from a Hispanic family, he did not play ANY Mexican music. Half the wedding did not dance at all. He did not announce any events so we did not know when cake cutting was happening or if things were placed out. For guests to view. Guests book signing, momentos to take home were not touched because no one knew about. *We had a High school mariachi band come play during dinner but then after they were somehow allowed to go into the bridal room and just "hang out"??? I don't know who said they could go back there but I was shocked when I went to get something and they were all lounging around our personal items!? I mean bras were thrown and everything back there! That was a big issue for me. Not appropriate. *When dinner came we had ok'd all guests to be allowed to have both entrees. I find out later that one side was offered only a choice instead of both! We had so much food leftover because of this! And the food was not as good as at the tasting. *The bar had pre made cocktails in pitchers instead of making them individually, so they were very strong. And if you had a drink, you had to drink it quickly because they'd come around and pick it up even if it was still full! Such a waste of all our bought liquor and beer. *They allowed guests in the ballroom while we were trying to take pictures of the bridal party so we had to have them go back out which was embarrassing. Then when we requested the guests to enter earlier after photos due to the weather it took another hour to make the announcement. *Not enough cocktail hour food! *Wedding party did not receive any snacks for cocktail hour. *The backdrop in the Photo Booth was not even up! It was supposed to be a newspaper setting and it was just a black curtain. *Not enough dessert and they were serving in paper boats that my uncle had provided for his nachos bar. *They had very young people serving who did not know how to serve or plate. *DJ did not announce the last dance!!!! They missed it and by then everyone had gone because the music sucked. AGAIN, just our experience but I hope those who take time to read this will be appreciative and take time to make sure everything goes how they expect it. And have a boss or someone you trust in charge of the little things to stay on top of them because they didn't seem to care much after they were paid. They were given programs to know exactly how we wanted things to go and they did not deliver.

The area is at the base of Sombrero Peak so the west setting sun is blocked by the peak so a 5 o'clock wedding is perfect without being under the blazing sun. It's on the smaller side, compared to the Heirloom Farmers market at the Rillito Race Grounds, but I prefer small. It's easier to navigate and less overwhelming. Even though it's smaller, it doesn't mean the selection is limited. You can still shop for fresh veggies, fruit, produce, personal care items, dried goods and more! This is a great way to shop small and find new businesses to support! The Steam Pump Ranch a historical site and pre-COVID era hosted events pretty regularly. It's a neat place and the views to Pusch Ridge are beautiful. The farmers market is at rear end of the property. Parking is on the front end of the ranch and there's plenty of it!

I was married here this past week and Samantha and her team helped to make this a memorable and…read moresmooth evening. I am a person who likes to plan out everything in advance so that when things happen, I already have a plan in place to be able to fix it, or to have someone else be able to fix it (in this case, I had everything set up to where I would be bothered as little as possible). Samantha was allowing me to meet up with her almost monthly to complete payments and to go over different details as they arose. She was extremely helpful when it came to planning and was amazing at responding to all emails (which I definitely did not get from numerous other vendors). Then throughout the day, she was extremely helpful in keeping they plan we created in motion. The price here is great! If you so chose, this event space allows you to maintain a budget in a medium to lower budget. You have options to have everything included as you prefer (they have different caterers and DJs they contract with) or you can only use the space if you so wish to do. They keep the bar as an open bar (meaning you give them the alcohol and they serve it) and they provide basically all of the non-alcoholic stuff. Samantha even brought in a local prickly pear syrup for prickly pear margaritas that was delicious. There were also different things you could add if you wanted them (upgrades for chairs, an extra getting ready room, a fire pit, etc.) We were allowed to bring in whatever decorations that we wanted, so an individual could lean into the rustic, Southwest theme they already had, or to spin what is there to match just a rustic theme (I personally leaned more towards the mountain/forest theme rather than the Southwest theme). There was a possibility that it would rain on the wedding day in which Samantha spoke with us about the day before. Together we made sure there was a plan in place in case it rained (it didn't so we were able to get married on the lawn). Everything that evening went really smoothly. If I have any tips for future weddings - bring bug spray. Events are mostly outside, at the base of a mountain... you want the bug spray. This event space very much matched everything that I would look for in planning a wedding. It gave me the freedom to do as I wanted creatively, but also assisted in providing structure to maintain the plan I had in place, or fill in some gaps that I was missing. I strongly recommend using the Corona Ranch as an event space and I hope that many groups will have wonderful parties here in the future.
