I'm tired of getting an ingrown toe nail every time I've gone for the last year in a half and being told "you're just prown to them" uhmmmmm, no I'm not, I've done my own or gone to salons for 30 years and have never had one! I've been to several places in the last year and finally was recommended to go here by a couple different people. My first appointment was with Kim. I hymned and hawed about getting a full set of nails because I'm picky and they always look so fake on me. Not here. I walked out with a smile on my face and beautiful nails! I felt so pretty again! ( I know, weird that something so little can complete you and have such an effect on your being but........ we all know it's true) She also accommodated the fact that I could not stay for my pedicure after because I was running behind and had to pick someone up. She nicely told me it was not a problem and scheduled me for the very next day. (A day before a holiday which is probably the busiest of all days) I came in with my son's girlfriend. She did not have an appointment but she had missed hers and her nails were so overgrown they hurt. They stayed an hour late just to get her in and her nails were even more beautiful than mine and I have no idea how that was possible!! The next day, Kay did my pedicure. WOW is all I can say. I told them why I was there, I could not walk without pain on both big toes because of the last pedicure. It had only been just under 3 weeks and I just couldn't see myself going back to that same place to deal with it again and again, Kay took one look and said, "they are cutting it wrong." That's exactly what I was thinking!!!!!! Well let me tell you, it's been 2 weeks and 2 days and guess what???? No pain! I don't feel like I have to rush in there so soon to relieve the pressure from nails being cut incorrectly. I will be scheduling my next appointment with Kay again next week and just want to thank her for knowing her shit and caring enough to listen to me, correct the damage from another salon and give me faith in knowing there are good salons and techs out there and I'm grateful!!! Kay also did my first nail fill last week and again, I was blown away. I guess it doesn't matter which tech you end up with, you just know they all take great pride in the work they do and the finished product you walk away with and what a comfort that is! Below is my pedicure and nail fill pics. I only wish I had taken a picture of my first set from Kim. This salon gets a big fat 5 star review from me. I'm just going to let you know that coming from the pickiest and most OCD woman out there about her nails, this kind of review from me is unheard of. This was my first time coming in after going to another local salon for years. I have problem…read morenails, and gel manicures never seemed to last more than a few days, leading to my needing re-dos and repairs. Because my nails are already weak, I ended up with very thin and damaged nails. Lynn took one look at my poor nails and immediately knew how to fix them. She gave me a beautiful IBD gel manicure and my nails have never felt stronger. Lynn is the sole proprietor of this salon, so she is not able to answer the phone at all times, and she sometimes has to answer during a manicure or pedicure. I saw that a previous reviewer had given a one star review because of this, but it is understandable, due to the fact that she is the only person there. You may call and get no answer (her phone isn't set up to take voicemails,), but she will call you back. It is true that Lynn only does gel and acrylic manicures, so if you are looking for traditional nail polish, you will have to go somewhere else. She is also a bit more expensive than my previous salon, but it seems to be well worth the price point. She also does not accept credit cards, but has an ATM in her shop. There is also a few banks within a couple of blocks.

I found out "the owner does not like to talk to potential costumers on the phone. Who has time for that ?! So I texted my request. The owners answer "OK" . I replied "OK ? could you please pass on a day and time? I waited 2 days for an answer. Yesterday a very strange message was send to me with a very inappropriate "dirty" tone. I was very startled about it. I called the Salon again and left a message on the system about what just happened to me. I expressed my concern, that maybe somebody is miss using the Gladiola Salon phone number and message system. I ask to please give me a call back. Unfortunately that did not happen. But I got a text message this morning saying there will be no appointments for a haircut available before Fall. No Hello, no answer to my concerned phone call and no name from the sender. UNBELIEVABLE Fortunately Penn Yan has a variety of good hair salons and when you call they actually pick up the phone to talk to their customers to make an appointment.
