Just starting going to this office in March 2025, great Doctor and hygienist but beware of the billing process, I have 2 insurances which I have contacted and was informed and the allowable charges for the services rendered, but instead have been overcharged, normally a cleaning and exam would be covered by both insurance, my out of bottom, $101, I need to find another good dentist this office is a rip off, beware!!! read more

The place is more of a mess than I realized. After leaving these reviews, I received a call from Rory, the Director of Market Operations. He left a message for me to return his call and of course, when I immediately called back, he sent me a text message saying that he was on a conference call and would call me at 2:00 which was about three hours later. He also asked who was calling and I told him who I was and that I was returning his call. He never called back. Around 4:45 pm, I sent him a reminder and asked if he forgot to return my call and of course, he never responded--this was two days ago. THIS OFFICE IS A MESS AND NOW, I SEE WHY. Too many problems that they don't care to address. Decent Doctors (but they change constantly with no notice to patients, you find out when you show up for an appointment), Hygienist is great, highly skilled and very pleasant but the Front Office, Administrative Staff and Management are just a MESS! I've been using Dr Owens for a couple of years now. He is an extremely honest dentist which I really like. He reminds me of a small town dentist who worries about his patients and not making a buck. I had two teeth that were looked at by another dentist that said one had to be pulled and the other needed a root canal. Quick $2000 after insurance paid. Dr Owens did a root canal on the one that needed pulled and a filling and cap on the other. Have not had any problem since. The cost was about 1/3 of what the other dentist wanted. I had another tooth that was giving me a lot of pain a few months ago. I set up an appointment for the same day and went to see him. Dr Owens looked at the tooth, cleaned out something between the teeth, gave me a prescription for a mouth rinse and sent me on my way. NO Charge!!! (Never even heard of that before) Overall Dr Owens is a great dentist who you can trust and I highly recommend giving him a try, I did and have been there ever since. read more

If I could give this place no star I would!! The dentist seemed nice but he was not the one cleaning my teeth and his support staff is no good. I have never left the dental office with my teeth feeling worse than when I left!! This is place will try to get over on you if you let them I have had the same insurance for 10 years and never had to pay for fluoride treatment they tried to charge me an extra $29 dollars. After reading previous reviews here, I see that I am not the first to have an issue with Lindseythe front desk associate ( Dr. Owens wife). I was referred to Vibrant Smiles by a relative who is a patient there. My father went for a consultation and made an appointment for a deep cleaning and extraction. I was given 3 prescriptions to have filled for him to take 90 mins before his appointment to "relax" him. He had just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and I honestly forgot to have the prescriptions filled. I called the morning of his appointment to inquire about the medications and was told that his appt was for a different time than what was told to me when I booked it. I spoke with Lindsey who was very rude pertaining to the miscommunication. She said, "usually we charge a $20 cancellation fee" I said I didn't have a problem with that but didn't feel I should be charged due to THEM giving me the incorrect appointment time. She said I would not be charged the fee. The next month I received a bill with 2- $20 fees. I called and they were waived. Due to Lindsey's unprofessionalism I decided to take my father to a different dental office. I called Vibrant Smiles today, to ask why my father was prescribed 2 medications because I was told he could NOT have taken them because he has high blood pressure. That was my only question. I was concerned about this because I specifically put the prescriptions he is currently taking on his intake forms and wanted to know why he would be prescribed a medicine he should not have. I spoke with another female today and then Lindsey gets on the phone raising her voice, saying "I'm not going to play these games with you little girl, you will get a discharge letter from my office, you are not allowed to call here, you are trouble, I have spoken to you 4 times and you have been a problem." I did not once raise my voice at her, I was calm and politely asked her to listen to me. She constantly cut me off and said she did not want to listen to me and hung up the phone. I called back and she hung up on me again. It is very disheartening that someone in a PROFESSIONAL field would speak to me this way. I am a 37 year old woman, not a "little girl" and will not be treated as such nor disrespected. Her behavior is unacceptable and I am in hopes no other patients and potential patients have to deal with issues like this read more

Horribly misguided dental practice. I've had two miserable experiences with this office and felt compelled to share my dissatisfaction. I had a cavity filled on a tooth that was bothering me. A couple weeks later, the same tooth began hurting so bad, so I went back. They told me it needed a root canal, and of course, I couldn't get my money back for the root canal. Dentists know the difference between when a tooth needs a filling vs. a root canal. I went to get a second opinion on the tooth from another dentist and they determined that the X-rays illustrate a clear need for a root canal. Extra cost- approximately $4000. Prior to this experience, I went to get a crown placed on a tooth where the filling had chipped. The dental assistant placed the crown on the tooth and seemed to have a lot of difficulty doing so. Fast forward four months, the gums above that tooth are red and bloody, eroding, and causing tremendous pain. I'm going to receive another estimate from the dentist who fixed vibrant smiles' first screw up. It wouldn't surprise me if they perform shoddy work to get more money out of their patients and insurance companies. Do not go here. read more

Dr. Owens and his staff are the best. I have had troubles with my crown that I had on for over a year. I went back to Dr. Owen and he replaced my crown with no charge to me. All the staff are very friendly, I always feels great after each visit. I would recommend Vibrant Smile ! I have been patient there for over 4 years. read more

Last year I had a wisdom tooth pulled at the California location and Dr. Owens was very fast and accurate, it was a piece of cake! I saw Monica for a teeth cleaning recently at the Waldorf location, she was very gentle and friendly. I think I was only in the waiting area for about five minutes, despite the office being busy. I have to say that Dr.Owens is a wonderful dentist and ALL the staff is great very friendly and makes you feel welcomed. I have read some reviews on here and everyone has their own opinion. Well being a patient of this office I can assure you that no one in that office is racist and the staff is mixed. Dr. Owens is very friendly and he made me feel very comfortable and confident with his recommended treatment. I also loved the warm blanket they provided when I came in to get my work done. Technicians are great, staff friendly but why are my fillings falling out.. Cavities filled and 2 mknths later two have fallen out and office closed til tuesday? Dr. Owens is WONDERFUL however his wife, Lindsey, is the front desk manager and also does his estimates. She's VERY rude, nasty and acts as if she's better than you! She actually called me incompetent because I question why a simple extraction was being up-coded to a surgical extraction. Her response was because the tooth was in bone...although ALL teeth are. She explained that because the dentist only makes 30$ when billing threw insurance they code it surgical so the insurance won't cover it therefore he makes more money off me.. couldn't believe she said that to me. That my friend is fraud! Stay far away. It's such a shame because the dentist is so great but she ruins it for him. The reviews, which all say, she's rude are accurate and hopefully he sees them before he loses all his patients because of her. She's his wife so after all, how much trouble will she get in for being disrespectful to patients?!?? read more

I think I have probably written about 3 to 4 reviews in my entire life, but feel so compelled to write this one because of a recent experience with Vibrant Smiles, Dr. Owens, in Waldorf, MD. Let me start by saying the front office staff are professional and courteous. My recent visit on Sept 3, 2015 for two fillings turned out be a nightmare. Straight to the point, I went in with no pain at al and have been in pain ever since. Returned to the office to address my pain and Dr. Owens would not see me, instead left me at the mercy of his assistant. So I consulted with another dentist and found out Dr. Owens had left tooth decay under the filling and also on the tooth. Needless, to say were astonished at the photos and his negligence could have cause me to loose my tooth. If he can't be trusted with a simple cavity filling; I certainly would not feel comfortable with any other service. read more

I had the worst experience at this dental office. I have state insurance, and a certain kind that no one wants to take so I was so happy to find after calling around that this place took my insurance. I have anxiety at the dentist so the first time they just took x-rays and gave me prescriptions that were designed to calm me down for my fillings. I took them and went a few weeks later, only they didn't calm me at all. I cried and so they sent their office manager to "calm me down". Instead she napped at me that I needed to calm down so others wouldn't hear me, and that the medicine didn't work because I didn't want it to work, and that he has other patients. She acted like I was screaming and crying and throwing things, I was crying quietly in my chair. I was under the impression I was having three fillings done, he did four and then I was like you didn't do this back one that you said was the worst. The dentist said he had to check the x-rays. He did and then said yes that one needs a filling too. So he did a total of five, when at my first consultation, I was told three. I left and after the numbness wore off, I had such pain and sensitivity. Cold things made it feel like my head going to fall off from the pain. I called back and they said give it a few weeks, and if it still was like that call again. The pain only got worse from that point. I was barely eating and just sipping water to try to avoid anything touching that tooth. I finally called again and the dentist said it was an abscess and that I would need two root canals he thinks. He referred me somewhere that, surprise didn't take my insurance. I called my insurance only to find out they don't cover root canals at all. I called back to schedule an extraction even though I wanted to keep my teeth, but my insurance had backed me into a corner. The receptionist said she'd try to squeeze me in that afternoon but then got back on the phone and said they were referring me out for the extraction even though they did them in the office. The place they referred me to wouldn't take my insurance and neither would any other place I called. I finally called them back crying because no where took my insurance but them and they did extractions in the office so I didn't understand why they wouldn't. The office manager once again got on the phone and told me that the dentist wasn't comfortable with me as a patient and that my anxiety probably played a part in it and he wasn't going to do my extraction. I explained no where else would take my insurance and she told me to stop crying, went to talk to him again and came back and said its his choice and he's not doing it. I will never go to this place again. They left me with infected painful teeth and no where else to go. I would not be on state insurance if I had thousands of dollars that I could spend on dental work and that's what every other place wanted; for me to pay thousands up front. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I'm so upset by this. I was told they get patients in there all the time with anxiety, so I would think he would be used to it.
