    Chocolate covered cherry flurry
    Teresa A.

I only 'discovered' Vicky's at the end of the 2023 ice cream season. It's become my go-to this year because my former spot became inconsistent in its quality and I gave it up. Hopefully, Vicky's remains consistently awesome because I need an ice cream spot in town! I'm generally pretty basic: strawberry shake or a vanilla cone with sprinkles. Today I got a chocolate dip cherry flurry and it was good! Might need to try some more flurries before the stand closes for the season. Cash only with pretty fast service! There are some benches around the side of the Goulding if you want to sit out, too.

Had a Cookie Dough Flurry and the GF had a Regular Chocolate Cone. The Flurry had a generous helping of whip cream Nd everything tasted as hoped. The kind of ice cream place you yearn for from A Story or Beloved Show.

This location is soft serve only, with the standard line of flavors. Also cash only. No website, limited web presence. They're an institution in this part of town, but they've got the vibe of a place that's covering a special event. There's two things that set this place apart from other ice cream places. One, the flurries. Even without any special flavors for the base, the options seem to be much more wholesome. Fresh bananas as a mix-in opens up a whole world of opportunity I haven't seen anywhere else. My all time favorite is peanut butter, banana and marshmallow. Two, the soft serve has a unique taste and texture. I'd say most soft serve is indistinguishable, aside from available flavors. The soft serve here has a soft, airy texture and a rich taste to match. It's comparable to a Frosty, but much better. Their milkshakes are highly recommended by others, but I thought they were about as good as anywhere else. We've been here a hand full of times over the last few years. Service has mostly been exceptional, but we had a weird encounter the last time we were there. There was an older guy who came off as completely brash when we ordered soft serve. They couldn't put sprinkles on a large cone, which is understandable and not the first place we've been told that. That's fine, we asked for the large cones, then for two bowls with sprinkles to dip them in ourselves. Not only did this not compute, I think he thought we were messing with him. He said the bowls wouldn't fit the cones, but then offered to give us bowls of ice cream. We had an Abbot & Costello back and forth that ended with him slamming two large bowls on the counter and looking past us to usher in the next in line. Just a weird encounter from someone who seemed to be having a bad day. All in all, the pricing is some of the best in town. The serving sizes are plentiful. The service is usually over the top. The soft serve is unique, not the standard issue you'll get from most places. By using fresh bananas and utilizing the sauces and coats, they make flurries like you won't see anywhere else. Honestly, I think the biggest deterrent on my end is that it's cash only.

It was 70° this past weekend and my parents were visiting me! I took them to walk around Onondaga lake and sure enough we had to get a refreshing treat! Happy that Vicky's was open! The line was about 14 people long at 2pm. We ordered several sizes and flavors of cones, and each were equally pleasant. Baby cone, small, and 2 mediums . **If you're sharing, medium is enough for two!!! The orange and vanilla swirl is basically and orangesicle. The blackberry or orange by itself is tart, but refreshing. Of course you can top them with various nuts, sprinkles, and cherry dip! But I wasn't feeling that adventurous. Maybe next time, and soon.... The employees were efficient and welcoming. I Wish there was an awning over the bench space but direct sunlight was amazing too. Is it safe to say Upstate Spring has begun?

Lemon Ice & Chocolate-Vanilla Twist. SO GOOD!

So glad I was able to visit before they closed for the season. I got the lemon ice - SO GOOD! Very tart, so be aware! Also got the chocolate and vanilla twist. Creamy and light. The service was super quick & the servers were friendly. Just a tip: they only take cash!

Fickle Tasty Treat is the place down the road where you have to stand in line for hours because none of the teenyboppers in front of you can ever decide what they want. Luckily you won't have that problem at Vicky's because it's usually pretty quiet. Both of the times I've been there, I've been the only one there. Which actually makes me sad. Because it is so, damn, good. What to get: Vanilla Custard What else: the sherbet is a surebet if you like sherbet And what else: Don't vandalize the place like my cat Starlight did or you might end up in custardy. I am glad that I enjoyed these products otherwise I'd have had to rename it Sickly Nasty Treats. I came here originally by accident. I was looking for Heid's while on tour and it was nearby and I decided to try it. I remembered liking it, but it's been so many years that I couldn't remember how much. However, it's in the city of Liverpool, so that automatically predisposes me to like it, since Liverpool has the best soccer aka football team on earth. But not this Liverpool. If you know some really mean pale people, and they come here a lot, then maybe they think it's called Prickly Pasty Treats? I stopped by again about 2 weeks ago on my food tour of Syracuse. I was already pretty full, but when I noticed the prices, I had to order multiple items. A baby size is... wait for it... $1.25! Buffalo is cheap for baby size cones, and Rochester is expensive for them. But Syracuse beats them all... absolutely dirt cheap! If you see Gervais doing drugs here, then it'll have to be renamed Ricky Wasted Treats. The custard was the biggest portion and the most delicious. I got vanilla of course and it's a hands down 5/5, and way better than the ice cream shop next to Heid's, owned by Heid's. Absolutely luscious, and so creamy. Try it. The second best item was the orange sherbet. It had that "American Chemical Orange" flavour that I like to call "Agent Orange" (I came up with that myself, I may patent it). But if you like Agent Orange flavour, you might like this. You know, the same as Slice or Fanta or Sunkist or whatever orange soda you drink over here. See, where I come from, Orange drinks taste more citrusy and orangey and less sugary and chemicaly, so I can't get into anything Orange flavoured over here. Mexicans have it right though with their Mandarina flavour, for their Jarritos for example. If you met a guy in a Hawaiian bar and took him home but he finished way too early, before you even got started, if you know what I mean, then you can call it Tiki Hasty Treats. But I digress. So the Orange was a 4/5, but it would be a 5 if you like that flavour because it's very good quality sherbet and not too sweet and well made. And finally the lemon ice was more like a 3. It tasted nothing like the lemon ices that I know and love, and was very chemical-y and lemonade-y. So I'd skip that one unless you're a big fan of lemon ice in general. The service was just okay. It was a middle-aged guy. He was nice enough. He gave me really big portions though for 1.25, I was shocked. 3.75 total for three treats... see the pix. And if Rourke admits that he's never been with a boy and finds male equipment disgusting, then you can rename it Mickey Hates-D Treats. I can't give this place anything other than a 5, though because of the prices, the excellent custard, the good sherbet, and the fact that it's a little family owned place and you should all make the effort (in my opinion) to choose this over Dairy Queen, or Cold Stone, or whatever Ice Cream chain your preference is. Keep the money in your local area and in locals' pockets, and eat real local stuff made by locals with love instead of corporate cookie cutter stuff. And finally, if you come here to meet guys and head south and please said aforementioned guys, which you enjoy very much because of the salty flavours, then just for you, they will rename it Dicky Tasty Treats.

Vicky's is great for soft serve. Usually I will get a simple chocolate vanilla twist in a waffle cone and a chocolate dip. The soft serve here has great flavor and consistency. While they are a cash only establishment the cost for ice cream is pretty low. I will say for a milkshake though I am not a fan. I got a small chocolate malt. The flavor was good, but it was huge and the consistency of chocolate milk. It sloshed around as if was handed to me and quickly got warm. Since it was so thin it seemed way too sweet for chocolate milk and didn't sit right in my stomach. It might be worth trying it thick for an extra charge but I may also stick with soft serve. Personally I would have preferred if they made it 12-16 oz and just used less milk so it was milkshake consistency.

Nice selection, but sizes could stand to be a bit bigger for the price. Great location though, as it is right on Electronics Parkway.

When I presented my voucher to the first employee that came to serve me, she wasn't quite sure what to do, but everything was easily sorted once she asked the other employee she was working with. They were overall very polite and friendly with their service. I opted for their APPLE PIE A LA COLD STONE®, which is described as "FRENCH VANILLA ICE CREAM WITH CINNAMON, GRAHAM CRACKER PIE CRUST, APPLE PIE FILLING AND CARAMEL". As you can imagine, this was on the sweet side but tolerable. This was the exact reason why I chose a sundae with fruit rather than cookies which was the bulk of their menu. Their ice cream is indeed very smooth and creamy! I do wish there were more graham crackers though, as my favorite part is the contrast in texture when there is some crunch. I'm actually not sure if she gave me a small (i.e. the "like it" size) as I felt it was more of a medium, and was definitely enough of a treat to share.
