I was confused by the names of the menu items , but was able to read the description. I first tried a pasty. We do not have these in California or anything that compares to the flakey buttery crust with the delicious fillings. This meat pie was mouthwateringly good. Needless to say I went here a couple times during my visit. I was pleased to find out that this location is mom and pop run for over 20 years. The lines go out the door and down the street when everything is fresh. I was also told I needed to get the kitchnerbun for dessert. This was a huge pastry with whipped cream flowing out of the center. There were so many things to try in so little time. I finished off this treat with a coffee milk. ( see pictures) There isn't much parking, side streets are easiest. There isn't much dining room either, may I suggest the short walk to the picnic tables by the beach to enjoy your meal. The locals seem to just hang out outside and talk while they eat their meals. If I'm ever back in this area again, I will be dining here.

It would be easily done if you could put aside the fear for you waistline! This is definately one of the good ones. They are supposedly famous for their pasties but having tried both - the sausage roll is really something else and absolutely huge! There is a little seating outside and some park benches nearby but it's definately no dine-in establishment. Perfect stop for hungry sufers and sunday drivers!

We booked for 5.30 as our littlest has to be tucked on by seven, and were the first there. Friendly greeting from some new faces behind the bar and led to our table. Good so far. It's one of those pubs where you order and pay at the bar so we got our orders in quickly and settled in. The kidlets meals came out quickly, a good serve of nuggets and chips which they got stuck into. There were six adults and we ordered a variety from the menu, including a chicken Parma, a rib eye steak, salt and pepper calamari, seafood laksa and salmon fillet. The calamari doesn't look pretty but the doc said it was tasty and tender. My laksa was ok but lacked something. The rib eye, ordered medium rare came out more medium well, the Parma declared good but the salmon was pronounced inedible due to over salting. To their credit one of the wait staff, a lady who looked like she was in charge took it back and replaced it with another dish which was ok. We didn't stay for dessert due to time constraints. Oh and the outdoor play area still there but the indoor one - gonski! Would we go back? Lets wait and see what happens, early days but they definitely need to tweak this place.

The markets are held every Saturday, from 8.30am to 12.30pm - you can get a fresh coffee here, and there's a few places offering breakfast including some stunning gourmet bacon and egg rolls. A recent addition to the market has been a german meats stall, featuring the absolute best salami's and beer sticks, and the best kinder sticks (twiggy sticks) we've found anywhere. If I ran you through a mornings trip, it'd include a bacon and egg roll and a coffee, a selection of beautiful, big field mushrooms, a jar of spicy chutney or maybe a salsa, a huge bag full of farm fresh veggies, and half a bag of fruit, a fresh baked loaf of kalamata bread, a slice or two of cake and maybe a luscious lime tart. Loaded up with all of that, I'd still have change out of $40. The markets are my Saturday morning ritual when I'm at Victor - if you give it a try I'm pretty sure it'll become yours too. Infact the presentation of the food is deli like in a small window. They also sell unique food at high prices. Don't get me wrong nice stuff like vegan chocolate just very pricey. We ordered the fish cakes and soup (minestrone) which came with salad and garlic bread. Both meals were very nice (I am used to a big bowl of soup for 9.90) and my soup was quite small and sadly was mainly pasta and not much veg. But it was very tasty as was the garlic bread. The tuna cake was again a bit expensive for what it was but again very nice. The staff are lovely if a bit 'older' I definitely felt I was in an old persons town. The service was friendly as most small town restaurants service is but a tad slow. However as we wernt in a rush we didn't have a problem. As a cheese-a-holic in South Australia their goods would be fortuitously hard to avoid! The magical dairy epicentre of happy, dancing cows is south of Adelaide on the way to Victor Harbour. As you pull into the driveway you are greeted by a stylised metallic cow sculpture, the mascot of the cheese factory. My favourite thing to do is sample all their lovely cheeses before I decide which ones are coming home with me. My favourites include the spiced gouda (with caraway seeds in it), the cheese curd (deliciously salty and reminds me of nursery rhymes and the Canadian dish of poutine) and the haloumi, YUM! There is some seating inside and out for devonshire teas and enjoying the serenity. A milkshake and slice of cheesecake deal seems to provide an excellent fix for dairy junkies at just $7. The double cream used on scomes is so thick, it's like trying to spread butter out of the fridge, but my goodness it is tasty and the afore mentioned milkshakes are great with malt and come served in those great retro silver milkshake cups - great novelty! The atmosphere can be a little cold, but it is a tea shop attached to a cheese factory after all, so sit infront of the big window that lets you watch the magic on the factory floor as it happens. Also note the locals who come by to pick up their daily milk! Ahh, rural joy.
