I loved the…read moredifferent takes on Christmas showcased through out the bar and even the entry way transformed you into a icy winter wonderland. I was very packed and people were walking around with cute little Christmas themed cups from ornaments to mugs. We didn't stay to partake in a drink since it was PACKED around the bar downstairs and we were warned to not even go upstairs. So photo op it became. They even had Abominable Snowman but he was surrounded by so many I had to grab a picture from a distance and couldn't ask if he really bounces. If crowds are your thing, then definitely swing by Tinsel

Half the fun is looking around and trying to figure out which movie or TV show inspired each decoration. Christmas music plays nonstop. There's a fixed drink menu and no seating, so it's very much a stand-and-hang-out kind of place. From what we heard, it can get pretty packed later in the evening, but we arrived right when it opened at 4:00 PM and had no wait at all. It ended up being a great place to kick off the night. The cocktail list is entirely Christmas-themed--festive and fruity flavors. The cocktails are served in Christmas themed vessels. If cocktails aren't your thing, they do offer beer and seltzer options as well. It's a fun, high energy stop that's perfect for soaking in some holiday spirit.

It was a super hot night out so we asked to be seated inside and they were able to accommodate us. Apparently inside seating is actually reserved for walk-ins so good to know for those who can't get a Resy! The food was good enough but I think the ambiance of the place and the amazing service really made the experience worth it for me. Definitely don't skip the hanger steak--it's perfectly medium rare and juicy. The tomato toast was flavorful but the toast was pretty thick and hard to bite into especially around the crust, although that might just be a me problem. I look forward to doing a walk-in to try their dessert sometime before the pop-up wraps up!

The first one I visited was Haunt, which is located on top of Pearl Tavern. When me and hub got there around 11pm, there was no line, I thought that was weird. I was kinda expecting long lines. But hey it was a good for me so I thought..... Instead of waiting outside, we saw a seat at the bar in Pearl Tavern, so we waited inside instead. We waited approximately 35 minutes before Haunt allow people in. I was expecting something like Tinsel since ppl was raving about Haunt too. I was disappointed once I walked up the steps. It wasn't even 10% of Tinsel, very lightly decorated.... My disappointment didn't stop there, I ask the bartender for 2 sweetest drinks, she gave us something that is no where near sweet, matter of fact, it was super alcoholic. We were trying to get her change it to something else, but she wasn't willing to help us. The 2 drinks cost $29 plus I left $6 tip, so $35 totally wasted. With my experience at Haunt, we was reluctant trying Tinsel. And the line extended all the way down the other block, we were terrified. We end up going to Bonchon instead.

Liked the dark room with orange lighting and the spooky cobwebs. Nice place to relax and enjoy a drink after dealing with big crowds at tinsel. I ordered the unicorn blood drink with bourbon, fernet, borghetti, red wine, coffee, cinnamon, and pomegranate. A lot going on it it, but it was interesting. It was in a cute skeleton tea cup mug with ice. Basically tasted like a cold alcoholic spiced apple cider. Definitely better quality drinks here than at tinsel. Drink list was a little small, wish they had a little more variety and more Halloween type drinks though.

The guy at the entrance will ID you and give you a wristband if you think you'll want to drink and he also explained the way to order. You will want to bring your cell phone and credit card info to order from toasttab (i believe) from your table, where there will be a QR code linking the order form and your table number. There is an option in the app to also correct it if there are any mistakes but I had no issues. Note they do charge 20% gratuity which I believe is to pay their staff a better wage than minimum from what I read. A server will drop off your food and drinks once ordered and they were always very nice. I enjoyed two watermelon margs and a container of curly fries for 18.50 including gratuity. Note the margaritas are like 1/3 to 1/2 ice but again for 5$ in this part of the city it is what it is, and I know the ice will be appreciated on a hot day. Ordering from my cell phone was a great feature to have since I went alone just to check things out and not having to lose my table or worry about my stuff getting stolen was wonderful. There was plenty of seating when I got there shortly after work but maybe only 2-3 open tables by the time I left. The music wasn't too loud and it was good people watching. It is noisy considering the part of the city it's in but hey it's a convenient location for Center City workers. I will visit again for the margaritas.

One of my friends share their Instagram page so I start following them. They promoted this watermelon Margarita for $5 dollars on Wednesdays so I decided to try it after work. The drink was pretty good I was just a little tiny sad it didn't come with a piece of watermelon in the drink like they advertise. The place is also kid friendly with having sand boxes that they can play in

I got a crisp XX on draft. The tortilla soup was hot and mildly spicy, just the way I like it. But the real star was the chipotle chicken. I got there on Wednesday around 6 and there were only a couple of customers at the bar. I almost left because I didn't see any employees. Finally someone came out to greet me and seated me in the middle are. He had to put some paper at the bottom of the table because it was a bit wobbly. A lot of choices in the menu. I ordered guacamole and chips for appetizers and it came out right away. The chips are fresh and not stale. Good amount of guacamole. Street corn aka elote. The corn is juicy. Unfortunately, it was not enrobed with mayo and cotija cheese as a typical elote should be. Fried plantain: not many slices. They are dry and not sweet . I was hoping for more ripe plantain Birria tacos: small tacos, the consommé lacks of depth of flavor. I could only taste saltines. The waiter asked if I wanted rice and beans. I said only beans. It's basically mashed refried beans. I wasn't aware that it costs extra $4. My husband ordered this dish served in half pineapple. It has chorizo and shrimp. Again , lacking depth of flavor, very salty. Service was great. The staff is friendly. Credit card is accepted but with a fee. There's an ATM if you prefer to pay with cash.
