From there you look around and the dirt stains on the wall are traumatic. You're then told to sit on the couch with clothes and Cheetos and realize this is going to be an epic mistake. The signs everywhere letting you know they don't practice sexual favors and the dirt stains on the carpet are enough to make me never go back. To make matters worse they switched my masseur twice mid massage and the second person was on her phone and I had to tell her I'm going to leave before she stopped with texting. But I didn't care I was planning on having my eyes closed while I relaxed. So if you look passed that - the rest works out. My therapist, Kim, is Korean. For her size, she is very powerful! She asked if I wanted "soft or hard" I responded "hard". I was then asked "I walk?" I replyed "sure, yes." Then like a gymnast Kim was up on the table and walking on my legs and back. Her toes were operating almost independent of one another. She was definitely getting "the lay of the land." Everything else was as you'd expect. Classical music playing, massage oils used, warm blankets, at one point a heated moist towel, etc. The few times I spoke - I actually felt as though I interrupted her concentration. Not in a bad way by any means. She was perfectly cordial. Kim was genuinely in the zone. Honestly, her hands were like that of a six year olds. So tiny, yet she could crumble granite with them! There was a tad of a minor language barrier. But it didn't lesson the experience. As the salon is right on the highway (Rt. 1) I could hear the constant passing of vehicles. But I discovered that that almost sounds the same as rolling ocean waves. So it was not unpleasant. Kim did an excellent job and got a $40 tip. Love that they're close and I got to support a local business.

It is clean and operated by Angela, who has years of experience in the traditional healing arts called Tui Na. I made an appointment for later in the afternoon via text message, and she responded promptly to schedule the appointment. My lower back periodically acts out due to old herniations and recently has called out for attention. A "fantastic feel" result was what I was hoping for. I decided to give it a try. Angela worked hard. She had strong hands and often used her forearms and elbows to mix deep tissue techniques with a softer traditional stretching style. She was very good, and kept distractions (phone calls, customer walk ins) to a minimum. Bottom line - My back relief was almost instantaneous. While first pushing/probing was painful, I felt the tension from muscle spasms lighten and eventually disappear by the time she finished. I couldn't have asked for a better result. My only suggestion would be to have a receptionist to handle calls and walk ins while she is providing treatment.

They take health safety seriously, and wear masks at all times. Prices are about a buck a minute, so an hour massage runs $60; a 90 minute stay with hot stones (dry) and hot towels (wet), $90. I recommend the longer traditional body work as it provides ample time for deep relaxation, and even a nap in the midst of all the heavy hands being applied by the skilled masseuse. True, the elbows in the trapezius and sciatic notch will wake you up with a jolt, but the release of stress is almost immediate. The hot stones and towels may burn a little at first application, but they cool quick enough to leave no scar, and quickly relax the long held tension in muscles, tendons and ligaments. The final 20 minutes are spent on your feet, and those prying fingers and fists digging into the sole will either cause a temporary spasm or slowly make you love your feet again. Very worth the self indulgence ever now and then. A word about tips. Tipping is expected after the session. The normal gratuity is about $20 per hour, and $10 per half hour thereafter. It is not uncommon to tip more for a particularly good experience. These folks split the house charge with management, and they depend on your generosity to survive and support their families. So, to avoid any unpleasantness as you leave, be prepared to pay what is customary and build it into your cost calculations. If this is bothersome to you; do yourself a favor and don't go. Stick with the more expensive American chains that won't be insistent to avoid the mishugas.
