This is a fairly small (1,100 seat capacity) beautiful theater in downtown Dayton, Ohio. It opened in 1866 and is built in italianate style. Seats are comfortable with plenty of room in the isles. It's a pleasure to watch a show here because it's smaller and more intimate. We saw comedienne Kathleen Madigan give her performance here. It was a great show, funny and close. Probably because of its age, restrooms are minimal especially the women's restroom. read more

The Victoria Theatre is one of my favorite places in downtown Dayton. The theater has a beautiful historical exterior as well as interior, the seating is comfortable and padded booster seats we're available for children. It's always a delight to watch a play at this venue, the acoustics are good and I don't believe there's a bad seat in the house. The pricing is very reasonable for the entertainment provided. There is ample parking in garages throughout this city. We were able to take our grandchildren to this performance of Dragons and Mythical Beasts and they thoroughly enjoyed it. read more

Great venue! Comfy seating. Concessions closed 7pm when we were there on a Sunday makes good sense. Julie(Julia?) at concessions was very kind and assisted me in locating a cold coke. Parking was initially challenging in this area....lots were full garages were setup poorly IMO. Luckily while circling the block the 2nd parking spot away from their front doors was open - Score! We saw (the awesomely funny) Anjelah Johnson). We were around row J all the way stage left yet could still see and hear very well. This theater is setup well and I'd go back in a heartbeat. I have not been to Dayton often to see theater, but this certainly is a grand old place to see it. I saw Mystery Science Theater Live at this location last year. Very enjoyable. They even brought the cast members out for a meet-and-greet after the show. They definitely pack people in, and it could certainly stand to be more spacious, but this is how old things were built. read more

What daytrip to Dayton would be complete without seeing an old movie at the Victoria Theatre! The theatre is located right in the heart of Downtown and was built as Dayton's Music Hall in 1866. The gorgeous architecture reflects the time period; I can just imagine the debutantes walking around, enjoying the opera. Victoria Theatre overcame some hard times too: floods, fires, and even being on the chopping block for demolition. Today, it remains as a prominent landmark where patrons can enjoy movies and live performances. We visited Victoria Theatre to watch the original version of "The Producers," one of my favorite musicals. The ambiance of the old theatre was the perfect setting for this black and white movie. Free soda and popcorn were served in the lobby, and the "preview" before the movie was actually an old Looney Tunes cartoon. This was definitely a special treat to discover in Dayton - who knew! It made for the completion of a perfect day. read more

The Victoria Theatre is Dayton's historic theatre on Main Street in downtown Dayton dating back to 1866, one of the first theatre's in the midwest. Great little theatre, seats like 1200? And I don't think there is a bad seat in the place. Saw a concert and the sound was great too. Easy access and on a corner lot just beware there's no parking except typical downtown lots and meters. Place was clean and comfortable. Drinks and prices were very fair. Polite staff and ushers. We came here for one of the National Geographic lecture series. My in-laws have been coming here for these for a couple of years and enjoyed them so much that they bought us tickets, too. I am very glad that they did. It was a great program in a great venue. Acoustics were great, the crowd was engaged, the staff (ushers, etc.) were helpful and courteous, and the building is awesome. I always enjoy going to this old theaters for the history and grandeur. Already looking at what they next show is that we can attend! read more

I didn't see a live performance of any kind here but the penultimate installment of the 2011 Michelob Ultra Cool Films Series. A viewing of Hitchcock's Rear Window in a historic, beautiful theater in a city I've never been disappointed by. Yes, please! My favorite part was listening to the crowd react to one of Hitchcock's best works. The theater is much smaller inside than the outside looked. But it was still classic and very pretty. The detailed ceilings always amaze me. No where near as grand as Columbus' Ohio Theater. I love when classic theaters, such as these two, breathe life back into the classics. read more

When choosing a seat for the ballet, the question often arises: Should I opt for a spot closer to center or closer to the stage? Normally, I choose proximity to the stage. At Victoria Theatre, that was a mistake. The seating area spans much wider than the stage, so you wind up with a quarter of the stage concealed. Next time, I'll try closer to center, even if it means being farther from the stage. read more

Victoria Theatre is a beautiful place where I was fortunate enough to watch a gory horror show. It was like an amazing love story of Beauty and the Beast. The theatre itself was lovely and had an air about the place that just takes me back to grander times. When you walk into the auditorium the ceiling and loft areas have so much ornate detail. I felt all hoitey toitey and it was just an awesome place for a date night. The bathrooms and the bar were in the front and were not difficult to get to even during the show. We came out for Evil Dead The Musical and holy wow it did not disappoint!!! We purchased tickets in the "splatter zone" and when we walked down to our seats they were covered in plastic. We were only 4 rows away from the stage, and the actors sang beautifully. The acting was superb and the blood was flying EVERYWHERE!!! It was one of the best nights ever and I hope to return next year if they come back for another show. I am almost certain that as a child we came to this theatre for Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde as well, and I STILL remember how incredible that show was. I'm not even going to mention the amount of years that could have been... that's another story for another time. But check this place out if you're looking for a night out on the town. I loved it and can't wait to return! read more

Stomp. Never found a need to see this. Glad that I did. Intimate theater in Dayton Seating is crowded if you are 6 ft plus. I am Enjoyed the choreographed noise that these performers put out. 100 plus minutes of entertainment. Don't need to see it twice. Worth one look. read more

My husband and I came here to see a live perform by the Golden Dragon Acrobats (really awesome show btw!!!). This venue was quite lovely- it had that classic theatre sort of feel with the ornate paneling and the chandeliers. Though I have to say, the wires that hold up the hanging fixtures are really unattractive. There must be some other way to re-enforce those things that is more aesthetically appealling, especially considering that the appearance of this place is a big part of its charm. This is a small venue, with somewhat limited seating, but the view of the stage is pretty good no matter where your seat is. The aisles and seats are kinda small too. It was a little cramped for me and I'm a fairly small person. Apparently not as small as the people were back when this place was built, haha. Overall, I enjoyed visiting this venue :) read more

Between the Family Series, the concerts, the small performance musicals, this beautiful little theater is a fantastic find in Dayton. It is an intimate space, but large enough to get a good crowd energy built up for the avid fans of certain groups or shows (especially like Over the Rhine and American Idiot). read more

I recently took a little roadtrip up from Cincinnat to catch a showing of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" during the Cool Movie Series at the Victoria Theatre. The event was really nice -- free popcorn and soft drinks in the lobby and a performance on the Mighty Wurlitzer (a vintage pipe organ) by an adorable older gentleman before the movie. The theatre is relatively small, but beautiful. I'd love to come back to see a live performance in the space. read more

Saw Rain, a tribute to the Beatles at the Victoria last weekend. This is a splendid venue for a more intimate experience than the Schuster Center. Beautiful surroundings and capable volunteers and staff made this a pleasureable way to spend a Sunday evening. The performance was wonderful as well. read more

I've been here to see Little Women the Opera, A Christmas Carol and several others as a child and as a young adult. This theater is beautiful and they have so much to offer. I remember field trips to this theater and only good memories. I've taken my parents here and they love it too! read more

Great Theater. Very beautiful, but word of warning... be aware of the show you will be seeing. I went there to see Mike Super, the magician in 12/2016, and purchased tickets based on limited information. While there was floor seating still available, I opted for balcony because I was told it would actually be closer to the stage since it over hangs the floor. This was accurate. I paid for 2 $50 tickets as opposed for ones half the price, however did not take in to account the act. Apparently Mike's act involves lots of audience participation so when we ran down into the audience, I had no clue what was going on and could not see below me. I was left to just stare at an empty stage. I was also a little off center and unfortunately his levitation act was set far back into the stage area. For 10 minutes a sat there unable to see anything from my angle because of curtains and can only hear audience reaction. I fault hat part to the act. He had plenty of room to pull that part more forward. The audience participation was my fault. I would never have bought balcony tickets had I known he was going to run down into the audience. More of the fault of the act, but I don't understand why he didn't have the camera follow him down into the audience or on the levitation set back in the stage. He had the mobile camera man on only 10% of his act and it projected nicely on a large screen. Again, the Victoria Theater was beautiful and worth going to, but I suggest knowing the performance and basing your ticket purchase on it. The negative comments will be placed in my review of the act itself. read more
