Reviews were great so we quickly pulled the trigger! Check in process was super simple. You can check in on the app and you can actually pick your room. Since we have never stayed here before, we didn't have a preference so we let them pick. We quickly verified the ID at the front desk and we were on our way to our room. Receptionist were both very friendly and even offered us waters. They do have hot coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a 24/7 store at the desk with sooo many snacks and drink options! They have multiple TVs, sittting areas and shuffle board/foosball in the lobby, which we saw lots of people enjoying. Our room was spacious. Plenty of room for storage. It smelled fresh and clean. The shower was perfect size, just wish the water was a bit warmer. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. Plenty of toppings for your pancakes, as well as toppings for yogurt and oatmeal too. Large variety of breads and carbs. It was perfect before a long day at Cedar Point! All staff was so nice and welcoming during our entire stay. Pet friendly!

It was gorgeous, with an electric fireplace and great view. Yes it is pricey, but for one night it is a nice splurge. Look at it this way... There is a free public parking lot right across the street - No parking fees. It is a very short walk to and from the Jet Express and the restaurants and shops on Columbus Ave. (such a cute and bustling area) - No ride share fees. Also no worries about driving back to the property after having a "few" cocktails at Put In Bay. That can save thousands of dollars right there! Yes you can hear some noise from the street, the restaurant's outdoor patio downstairs and the rooftop bar, but it is not overly loud and earplugs are provided. You are in the heart of Sandusky! Embrace it or consider a stay somewhere less convenient. This particular room would not be great for an extended stay, as there are no drawers to put your clothes in, but there is a bench with plenty of hooks and a few hangers that is sufficient for a day or two. Be sure to check the Jet Express schedule for Sandusky if that's the reason for choosing this property. I found out the hard way, a few years ago, that this location's season ends earlier than Port Clinton's. I believe they are done after Labor Day weekend.

The heat in our first room was only marginally working, but the front desk gladly moved us to an upgraded room. That heat was a newer, more efficient model and was also somewhat cool. Both rooms had space heaters, so we were fine. Noticed the room provides ear plugs. Staff said if it was noisy it should quiet down after midnight when the bar closed. That said, we didn't notice any noise. food and beverage We drank at and Yelped both Oh Taco downstairs and Moseley's Rooftop Bar upstairs. In addition, within walking distance is a surprisingly vibrant restaurant scene, with everything from gastropub to sushi. The next morning, we brunched and Yelped Wake Up and Waffle. Who knew Sandusky was a foodie town? staff Front desk staff was professional and polite. Great recommendations and suggestions. Desk is not staffed after midnight, but they have a number you can call. Desk also not staffed in the morning. You just drop your keys and go! There is a local gift shop in the lobby which has some cool, local options. location This is a renovated three-story building in the heart of downtown. Something like nine rooms total, plus the restaurant and bar. Free surface parking is across the street.

It's only slightly further out from the theme park than other hotels and infinitely worth the price reduction. The fancy old school neon sign out front is a helpful waypoint when you're coming back after dark (no missing your turn!). This isn't a chain location; it's independently owned and operated by a swell fella named Steve. Steve was very friendly and happy to have us for three nights. Each morning we were able to go over to the "office" (the back of his home) and snag free coffee, donuts, fruit, and granola bars (no COVID excuses!). He said hi to us or waved whenever he saw us enter or leave the property. And what a gorgeous piece of property it is! We both really enjoyed the more "homey" feel to this over the traditional parking lot + multifloor hotel. The rooms are small and honestly reminded me of my grandma's old house, which is probably accurate because this place was probably built around the 1950's. You can see it in the tile bathrooms and fixtures. That said, it is on the older side so there are some imperfections here and there if you look close. Some rusty grout, some warped wood, that kind of thing. Sure, it'd be nice if some renovations were done. But again, we spent the majority of our time riding roller coasters, not relaxing in our room so we really weren't seeking a "resort" experience. It all depends on what you're looking for in a stay. There is a pool which we unfortunately never got the time to utilize, but it looked really nice and the hours are generous. The ice machine worked really well so we were never without cold water to drink. The only thing that was missing that would've been really nice to have was a mini fridge/microwave so we could have some meals without going out. Each room also comes with a fold-out little bed so you can sleep an additional person or child. I actually ended up using it because it was softer than the full-sized bed. Steve was generous in supplying additional soap bars/shampoo during our multi day stay. The TV worked well and had all the standard channels. The wi-fi worked great for all my needs! A/C was functional and not too loud. Do note that this place is right next to the railroad tracks and trains will go by throughout the day/evening. We noticed the busiest time seemed to be 7am. The trains always blow their whistle while going by and it is quite loud.

It was cool to be able to stay in a place that my grandparents would have stopped at in their younger years. Most importantly, the rooms and bathrooms were super clean!! The room comes with a modern television and a small refrigerator. The property owners are very personable and, as part of your room fee, they provide freshly made local donuts each morning. The donuts are worth the stay alone. In this day and age, we were surprised to be able to find such a cool Experience for such little cost. Easy parking, beautiful pool (we didn't use it but it looked nice), amazing customer service. Without hesitation, we will stay here whenever we are back in town. They went out of their way to make our stay pleasant, they even changed their own plans as well! As for the house itself, it is something out of a story book! Suzee is an exceptional designer, and the entire house feels lively and comfortable. You truly feel at home. You get the entire upstairs which includes a massive bedroom, a TV room, and a private bathroom. No one bothers you or even checks up on you. You are given the house key, so you are free to come and go as you please. With being only 1 mile from the lake (great for sunsets!), and just minutes from the great local shops and restaurants in Sandusky, OH, the Cottage Rose is the place to stay! (Especially at only $85 a night!).

The complimentary breakfast was simple but well done, and the older ladies running it were hardworking, welcoming, and kept everything stocked. The pool & hot tub were great. Almost no one uses it during the day. That said, for a room that cost nearly 300 a night, I expected more. The rooms are very small, the air conditioner was extremely loud, and there was a noticeable gap under the door that could easily let bugs or other critters inside. The biggest issue was that some of the posted rules didn't seem to be enforced. The pool was supposed to close at 11 p.m., but there was still quite a bit of activity afterward. There is also a picnic area where another sports team gathered with a large Bluetooth speaker playing music late into the night, making it difficult to relax and sleep. Overall, it's a decent place if you need a convenient location near Cedar Point, but be prepared to pay premium prices during peak times for accommodations that are fairly basic. Pro tip: Book directly with the hotel instead of using Hotels.com or similar sites. The direct rates were significantly lower than what the third-party booking sites were charging.

When I visited for a book event (The Cozy Chapter), I found myself thinking - "Wait, is this Ohio? How amazing! Vacay vibes!" Accommodations: Lodging is definitely very unique compared to the surrounding options. Accommodations include houseboats or cottages with various tiers. Lodging accommodates anywhere from 2 to 8 people (plus pets). Both cottages and houseboats have big windows to look at the marina and surrounding nature. Houseboats seem like the most exciting option (they gently sway in water). All lodging includes shared hot tub, floating sauna, and wifi. Pricing is comparable to a hotel starting around $143 (varies based on dates and selection). Pricing and what's included are clearly stated. I think that prices are well worth it. Photos show the exact view you'd see outside your windows and interior accommodations. Interior seems very well designed and picture perfect. Some accommodations don't include shower/bathroom which are shareable onsite. Booking is available on Airbnb and on their website. Parking is available onsite. Activities: There are plenty of activities to do while vacationing. Offsite Cedar Point is minutes away. Onsite there are fishing, hiking (large property), boat tours and boating, kayaking, birding, relaxing by the fire, relaxing by the water in the Adirondack chairs, floating sauna and hot tub. No swimming is available in the marina (not deep), but there is another water location on the property. There's a store onsite where you can play board games or grab any essentials you might have forgotten. Events: I visited for an event series at SōLSTAY - The Cozy Chapter (booked via Eventbrite). It includes book discussion on particular book genre, crafts, book swap, gift, conversations about favorite reads, and community at the SōLSTAY store. The event is ticketed, opened to lodging guests and visitors. Guests can purchase tickets for the season or drop in. I loved the event! Everyone was super friendly, welcoming, social, and in sync. The organizers were so sweet and amazing, even more friendly than I would reasonably expect! They were just really good people! I also found out that they have little free library onsite for any readers who stay here. Book events should return in the colder months. While I only dropped in for an event, I already have plans to return and lodge! They have an all day retreat coming up in the fall! I can't wait to recharge at this dreamy location - lodge, retreat, and use an amazing floating sauna! I'm telling you, you have to experience this place!

Parking right outside your door, which is a bonus for motorcycle groups, or us unloading a car. 1 queen bed, microwave, mini fridge, bathroom as expected. Clean overall, free wifi, and coffee in the office in the mornings. Had no problem finding the happy temp in the shower, and the hot water lasted a long time. The mattress was good for 2 nights' sleep, and no one bothered us. We didn't need to use the pool, but there is one available. I still like these unique places that still use a physical key, and overall, our stay was good. I would stay again if I had the promise of ear plugs or white noise if you were a light sleeper like me.
