Food is great. I asked for easy pico on my house dip, it came out great but wish it had less beef and more cheese but that's fine. Water was kept topped off. Server was sweet. But the fans were on high, and pedestal fans were reading 83 - 85, and I asked for a cooler area and it felt like they put us in an inferno. I get that it's summer and ac issues happen, but this is a serious problem for people like myself who have health issues made worse by heat intolerance when we cannot regulate our own body temperature. No signs were posted that it was hotter than Satan's armpit, nor did they try to accommodate us - the man just joked that a fan was behind the large wooden booth. I have been here twice. Food is always good. The New building is beautiful. Very large and lots of seating. This time I had to talk to salad with steak. It was served hot and fresh with lots and lots of steak! My sister had The enchiladas and they were served hot and fresh with rice and beans. The only downside was my girlfriend got a blue Margarita drink and it was not very good. Strawberry daiquiris Yes delicious. I don't know, man. This is gonna sound real snobby, but... If you were raised in Southern California, there is genuine, solid, authentic Mexican food dotted across the landscape. Same with Texas, Arizona. Tennessee? Uh. Not so much. But, hey it's better than no Mexican food. And they try here. But, everything we ordered tasted pre-fab. Like store bought from the chips, salsa to the taco shells. The tacos were similar in taste to a fast food joint we have in California - Del Taco. We have been to Meson San Pedro twice and both times it was delicious!! Everyone always loves their food. It's very flavorful. I don't even like chips and salsa that much but the salsa is scrumptious and we love that they bring out a cheesy bean dip as well. Highly recommend the birria tacos! She's lost all of her help that were with her at the other restaurant , some say with the migrant crisis she let her good help that spoke English go for cheeper labor. Seems so, last couple visits waitress or waiters didn't understand simple words. Even complete meals were wrong , but we accepted and ate what was brought to us . I was sat pretty quickly. I noticed the family next to me had to flag down someone to refill their drinks. All of their drinks needed refills so that may something about the service they were receiving. The chips tasted store bought and not freshly made in house, the salsa was mediocre, but the refried beans and cheese was a nice bonus. My waiter was sweating profusely so that was rather off-putting. I ordered a steak burrito. I wasn't impressed with the flavor, but then again, I lived in California long enough to know what good mexican food taste like. We had no issues communicating until it came to payment. The price of the meal was less than $13. After tax I was owed about $5 and some change. He proceeds to give me a $5 bill. When I ask for ones, he pretends not to understand and acts like I'm saying he can keep the $5. Buddy was trying to get a 40% tip. The food is delicious, and the owners and staff are friendly and accommodating in a way that goes above and beyond! We like this local restaurant, but our last experience was not so good. The fish tacos I ordered were absolutely tasteless. The 'green sauce' was bland. The fish was way overcooked. I'm a big fan of bring your kids to work if you have to, but don't put customers in the booth adjacent to them playing a movie (loudly) on their iPads. I'm sure we will go back, but I'm going to have to find something better than fish taco to order. Had some great food here. Loved the chips & salsa and the fact that they give you a free little bowl of cheese dip mixed with refried beans too. The shrimp cocktail was great! My husband ran here the other day to grab lunch for our family of three. Well, I was very surprised at the price! I am feeding a thirteen year old growing boy and two adults and it cost just over twenty dollars! The food had such a fresh authentic taste to it. It wasn't that generic flavor you pretty much get at any mexican restaurant. It really felt like I was in someone's home who knew how to prepare real mexican style meals not the tex-mex but the real deal. Do yourself and your wallet a favor, treat your family to this place. El Mason San Pedro was a pleasant surprise. My family of seven was in town for 3 days, and we really enjoyed our meal here. The service was very good. The four girls who run the place ;-) were very sweet. The salsa was one of our favorite restaurant salsas. Portions were really good. My chimi trio was very good. The pico on top was outstanding. The beans and rice for my side did not match the chimis. They were bland and could have used a little love...and some heat. My wife's fajitas were pleasing. We have been to this restaurant 2 or 3 times a month over the past couple of years. With the move down the street to the bigger location it seemed like it took them a little while to get things straight now so the right food came to the right tables. We went last night and we were all shocked to see that none of us got guacamole with our meal. Come to find out they updated their menu and the server told us it now says guacamole is an adder. It's $3 to add guacamole to your meal. The beer and Margarita prices have gone up a fair amount. The price for fajitas has gone up and the portion size is now smaller. They are typically very busy on a Friday night but last night it was slow. I guess the word is getting out that your total meal is gonna be 20 to 30% higher now. We're gonna try a couple of other Mexican restaurants in the area on Friday nights for a few weeks and then maybe go back and see if they figured some things out. read more

My family and I stopped in Tennessee as part of our road trip. Many of the restaurants were closed, as it was 4 pm, and we decided to find the closest and most practical place to eat. Meson San Pedro, at first glance, seemed like a very hole-in-the-wall restaurant on the side of a busy highway. However, when we entered the restaurant we were overwhelmed by an array of Mexican culture and scents. The food here was delicious, fresh, and exuded Mexican pride, as it is owned by a Mexican family. The menu provides a variety of options, as well as free refills (my favorite part). I also loved the complimentary bean dip, which I have never seen in my hometown of NYC. Overall, I strongly recommend coming to this restaurant if you are looking to find true Mexican food or simply a quality place to eat. 5/5, highly recommend! read more
