While attending VCC my self and countless other students endured malpractice from administration, blatant disrespect and student right violations. My personal financial aid information was given to a class mate I barely knew (not an authorized party to say the least) and I was verbally threatened by a instructor. When I brought this matter to the owners attention her response was "I thought it was ok to give it to your best friend". Again the student she gave my personal FA information to was a woman I met while attending VCC a month prior. Not a friend by any means just a class mate. Though I graduated I keep in touch with many of the students whom continuously share their experiences of being mistreated and having their rights legally violated. I would not recommend this school despite how convenient the location may be for some or the cheap tuition. Cheaper by no means constitutes that a student should settle while investing their time and hard earned money. read more

I came here via a Groupon so I got an awesome deal. That being said, not exactly what I expected. I like coming to massage schools because you get a great deal and students get to practice, it's a win/win. Well, maybe. When you go for a massage you expect something relaxing, or maybe it's just me. Don't come here for that. Here's the good: everyone was very nice. My therapist was very nice and I think she did a good job. She asked what I wanted, hard or soft etc. I definitely felt comfortable with her. I hope she got an A, or at least a B+ Here's the bad: you're in a relatively small room that's separated by curtains. No problem there, however this is apparently also the class room. So the entire time of your massage you get to here a guy teach other students. You also get to hear the laughter and conversations of various other people in various other languages, loudly, at the same time. I wasn't sure what was going on. There was an attempt at relaxing music but it's almost completely drowned out by everything else. I'm pretty sure their cd skipped a few times anyway, people kept laughing about it. I think that's what they were laughing at. I was amused they still used a CD player. I kept thinking I should have brought ear plugs or headphones. I am a massage therapist at Burke Williams Day Spa. I graduated from this school in January 2014. I got my massage therapist license after 3 weeks of graduation. This school opened my mind and my vision, I used to work at a Thai Massage place and never ever though to leave the job because I made good money even though I have to work 12 hrs stuck in the dark place all day, can't go any where during the day, dramatic people, bad clients [sometime], no any benefit, employer don't really care about employee, they let you work 7-8 hrs continually , no training, no bonus, only good thing is I can make good money. Since I joined the class at VCC I heard many experience stories about working as a massage therapist in difference places from instructors and classmates that made me learn some new stuffs. I just graduated from VCC last month. All I can tell everyone is that it's AMAZING!!!! I had tremendous training with Ms. Fougoux' s team. Instructors are very attentive with every single student. Ms. Judith has a keen discipline with all students and Ms. Fougoux is wonderful. She is very knowledgeable in massage therapy. I got marvelous hands-on experience from them. I fell in love with the massage techniques they trained me for with tips and tricks for all massage therapists that they need to know. The student clinic is for everyone, and it is a fraction of spas cost $20 per 50 mins. Now, I have graduated and I already got a job in a chiropractic office and also in a spa environment. I just wanted to comment in Yelp to share my personal experience that I had got from VCC's service with everyone. I feel that becoming a massage therapist is the reward for everyone who enrolls. Two weeks ago today I had an amazing massage! I cannot remember the name of the student masseuse but the next time I return I will definitely get her name. I used the Groupon for only $19. You cannot beat the price or the services. The environment is not as tranquil as one would desire but the setting is still relaxing with the spa music and enclosed by curtains. UPDATE!!!!!- about 10 days after I posted my review and picture I got a call from the school. They were very very apologetic and "felt terrible" about my face. Ms K offered to give me my money back! (Imagine that!) A week later I got a check and with a post it note saying "Hope you will come back". Candidly I expected a bit more - I am not the type to ask for anything but returning my money after what I had experienced was a given. If they were really concerned I believe they would have gone out of their way to try to show their concern and have improved procedures. OKAY as crazy as this sounds ---even after they let me walk out with a face that was bruised for days and in a wet shirt.....I WOULD HAVE GONE BACK and given them a second chance (I am a bit nutty about giving second chances when people go out of their way to right a wrong) But an verbal apology and my money back was pretty easy out for them So I won't be back and instead I will just leave this update. read more

I got a massage here and it was really good! The therapist/student who worked on me was surprisingly excellent. Sometimes you think because the students are in school that the massage is so so...but in my experience it was super relaxing and more quiet than actual spas. The quiet mixed with excellent technique made my day a wonderful one + its only $20 bucks for the clinic massage and for a whole hour. I walked in wanting to know about their nail tech program. The receptionist, I assume that's what her role there is, was nice but she did not look professional, nor did she know much about the program itself. She then stated that they had the lowest tuition in the area to which I corrected her by explaining that a competitor school I had visited already had their tuition at about $1,500 less. Now the reason I made it a point to mention that I visited the other school is going to come up soon, but I digress. I feel like if I'm going to pay you almost 3k for a new skill, But someone else is offering the same lessons for almost half of what you are charging it's only fair that I ask what sets you apart from them. I explained, it's not money I'm worried about as I am willing to pay for quality education. Obviously the receptionist has no idea about the other school, and I can see that at this point that I have mildly irritated/flustered her because I have now asked to see photos of previous student's work. Most schools do in fact have these kinds of things. Again, I'm not blindly forking over 3k for crap skills. Finally she insists that we talk to the dean of education about my concerns and this "dean," after hearing the receptionist completely misconstrue my question, begins to lecture me about doing my own research and that they can't do it for me blah blah blah, how I need to come in and watch a class when they are open blah blah blah, and this pisses me off because 1. clearly I am doing research, 2. this woman just assumes things without asking me, 3. The receptionist has no business being in the front if she can't tell you anything about their programs. On top of that, I was not offered a tour. The final "no" for me was after her lecture, she asked me what I do for a living, but at this point i had no further interest in speaking to her condescending ass any further and just muttered "that's not what I asked, but thanks" and walked away. The way she said "bye" was the unmistakeable tone of "like we need you," of indifference full of fake happiness behind it. My tuition would help to put money in their pocket so Their goal was to sell me on why I should enroll there. They failed. read more

At VCC you explore the various modalities of massage: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Myo-Fascial Release, Sports Massage, Thai, Pregnancy massage and Energy Work. In addition, Anatomy and Physiology classes are required to provide you with a broad base of knowledge when you graduate. The instructors were an amazing teacher and all-around wonderful human being. They are warm, loving and very involved with the students education.They make sure students can understand the lecture, respect each other and talk out problems if they have them. The classmates are really friendly - all of them help you find out if you're struggling like I was. The tuition fee is fair. You can separate payment. The facilities were also nice and clean. 100% recommend! So I normally get my hair professionally cut but the last two times my experiences have sucked. I was looking on yelp and groupon, for a new place when I came across this school. Note technicians in training are providing the service but under the watch of professionals. I can only speak about the shampooing, the styling, and the haircut because those are the services I got and they did an amazing job I am definitely planning on going there again. It can be a little hard to find because there are other businesses located where the school is and in addition to that they have weird hours. Don't let that discourage you because it's totally worth it, Call from 8 to 4 to find out what time they provide the services you would like and when they provide them because this is a school so they do have field trips they do have offsite events. Those are not the hours they provide services those are the times the office is open so you can call to find out about services. The prices are great which is a bonus. read more

I support this institution all the way! Karine is very easy to talk to and always able to accommodate us right away! All students are extremely nice! And not to mention, they always do a great job! I love going here for a massage! And i love getting massages once every two weeks! This place makes me want to go get it every week. I wish i had found them sooner! Also, my husband's haircut was extremely great too. He goes to pricey barbers and i always tell him not too cause he doesnt even that have much hair to cut! He's in his early 30s but he has a hair like late 50s! And hes always been conscious about having thin hair, one of the students styled it and made it look like its not thin at all. And my husband is never descriptive of his preference and is a yes or no type of guy!! But her student was smart enough to figure out what to do! When he came home i was surprised! Ive never seen his hair styled that way. I was really impressed!! Its just sad that when you get a very good student, you cant request to see them next time, cuz they either have graduated or you need to give other students a chance! I have been to 3 different schools and have 3 different licenses in the cosmetology and salon services. This being the 4th license for me, Victory Career College by far as exceeded my expectations, compared to the other schools I have attended. I did some research about places to do highlights in my area and came across Victory Career College. I called around noon to see how to get an appointment and was told to walk in between 6pm-8pm. I arrived around 6:15 and was told that the wait would be 20-25 minutes. "Ok, no problem, I will wait." Then the instructor said, "Do you have a Groupon?" I said no. She said, "Do you know what the prices are?" I said, "Yes, I called earlier and was told $45." The instructor said, "And an extra $10 for long hair." Again, I said, "No problem." Then I was told it was cash only, so I run to the ATM machine to grab cash. When I come back, it is now about 6:45 and I noticed that there were now 2 other ladies waiting for services. The instructor said, "We don't have time to do you hair today, you're gonna have to come back. Your hair is long and it's gonna take a long time." I said, "I'd really like to have it done for an event this weekend." She said, "I have to close at 10 and it's gonna take hours, I don't want to make you wait that long." I said, "It's no problem, I don't mind." The instructor said, "My students are slow and it's going to take 5 hours to do your hair. You should have come at 5." I said, "I called earlier and they said I could only walk in between 6-8pm. Why didn't you tell me that you couldn't do my hair when I first got here?" She said, "I was analyzing the situation and decided we can't do it. Come back Monday or Tuesday." Again I said, "I need it done for an event this weekend." She said, "We can't do it." So then I said, "Ma'am, what's your name?" She said, "Whats your name?" I repeated, "Ma'am, what's your name?" She said, "Tell me yours first." Then I told her my name and she said her name was Sandra. I said, "Thank you," and walked out of there. I am really disappointed that Sandra seemed to be trying to put up hurdles so that I would leave and when I consistently told her, "No worries," she then flat out refused to do my hair. This place is not what I expected, I recently purchased a Groupon to get a haircut at the college. I went over there after work, found the "salon", I expected a more professional set up. The students were laughing and joking with each other, the teachers were not in attendance. I was greeted and offer the clip board with the disclaimer paperwork. Then I waited for a teacher to appear, which took a while. The student I was assigned too was very timid, I understand this is a school and they are learning, the teacher ended up fixing my cut and finishing off what was needed. The cut is good, but I wouldn't go for any styling or color. From other reviews I read on Groupon the impression was given that this was a more professional environment. I highly suggest the students learn in a more salon orientated when they are dealing with outside clients. My impression was that it was more of a party environment with no real education going on. read more
