I had a really poor experience leveraging their nail services for a manicure and pedicure. When I initially called to book an appointment, I was told by the person who answered that they wouldn't be able to book my appointment for nails (I think mentioning that they only book appointment for hair) but that if I walk in at the appropriate day/time I would be able to get serviced. So, I decided to do the walk-in, however, it was clear from the moment I walked in that they don't do walk-ins as they seemed surprised I was there. I should have known to walk out at that point but unfortunately I didn't. They eventually assigned me to a student who it looks like was new and unfortunately very inexperienced. Obviously all of the students are still learning and there's grace for that, but in this case it was clear that the student didn't even really have the basics unfortunately. It took her ~3 hours to do both hands and feet (I started around 5:45 and she finished around 9 PM) and the end result ended up being super poor. Not only that but by the time I was done the supervisor wasn't even around for me to bring this up with her directly. In total I spent around $65 (I was expecting to pay $50, but they uncharged the manicure from the $25 I saw on the website to $30 and then they had me pay an extra $10 to remove the polish on my foot) and for a place that claims to offer "discounted" services this did not feel even remotely like a discount. Even with all of the disclaimers that you all put on the website if you expect people to pay for services your students must demonstrate basic competence or else why ask for payment? Also really disappointed in how you all handled the phone conversations after the fact, especially when I spoke with the owner. Very rude and short with me. This experience has turned me off from ever supporting beauty schools in the future which I find unfortunate. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with VCC. Over the course of 12 days, I spoke with their admissions team three separate times and even toured the school before deciding to enroll in the 400-hour nail care program. However, when I called to officially sign up (only 12 days after I toured the school), I was told that the 400-hour program was no longer available and had been replaced by a 600-hour version--50% more hours than the state of California requires and almost double the tuition (I was planning on not using Financial Aid). Not once during any of our calls or during the hour-long tour was this change mentioned. I found this to be incredibly unprofessional, especially considering I had already made personal arrangements with my family to help me out with my children while attending school. While I'm frustrated and disappointed by the experience, I'm ultimately relieved I didn't move forward with a program that decided to withhold information and not be transparent with their potential students. As a recent graduate of victory, career college cosmetology program, I can wholeheartedly say that my experience here was amazing and transforming! From the moment of enrollment and walking into VCC, I knew I was in the right place to pursue my passion of cosmetology. The faculty is warm and welcoming and Miss Rubi and Dario made the tour and admission easy to understand. They instantly gained my trust in the admissions process. I had the privilege of learning from miss Erika whose expertise in hair color and haircutting was both enlightening and inspiring. She was engaging and insightful and helped me build the technical skills that I needed to succeed in my field. The time and attention she devoted to my success was nothing short of remarkable and I hope to remain very good friends with her as I continue to develop in my career. Miss Bella was amazing because she gave me opportunities to learn facials and skin care, and always welcomed me to her class. I hesitate to leave a negative review, but my experience at Victory Career College's salon was disappointing--especially due to the instructor/ supervisor Ms. Erika's customer service. I came in for a wash and blowout but was made to wait despite idle students. When I asked how long, Ms. Erica responded condescendingly, telling me it would take 90 minutes to 2 hours--something I hadn't been informed of when I called. Her tone made me feel judged, as if I couldn't afford a blowout elsewhere, which was demeaning. While the student working on my hair was pleasant, Ms. Erica's attitude ruined the experience. I left feeling it was a waste of time and money--I would've been better off doing my hair at home. As a licensed beauty professional and college professor, I believe educators should teach not just technical skills but professionalism, customer service skills, and respect. Made an appointment to try out their skin care service at room L-103. This stupid front desk lady/instructor told me to pay cash only on the phone but never mentioned bills larger than $20 won't be accepted. I came in and gave her $50 bill, she rejected and she forced me to come to the main office to pay by credit card. Fine, I walked to the office and it was closed. Then I came back and she still said no exception, I have to reschedule or to somewhere to get change. They shouldn't hire stupid lady to work at the front desk, really annoying and wasting my time.I don't come to scam you with fake money idiot. She should be fired for her stupidity and annoyance. I was going to this school in 2020 I had to drop out due to me getting a chronic illness a few months in while I was in the academy, it was all online and the teacher would just ignore my questions they didn't even tell me that they took out student loans under my name when I thought I had enough to pay for the certification of a nail tech. This review was way over due but I wanted to share my experience as a student who attended. I highly recommend this school. 10/10. Just take a chance and join. I graduated the 600 Clock Hour Nail Care Course. I enjoyed my time at this school and I found the staff to be supportive, kind and helpful. They really care about their students and will do anything to ensure you complete your hours and are state board ready. I started attending the Nail Care course in the beginning of 2020 right before COVID took over the world. When I began, I received tremendous help from Dario and Ashley regarding financial aid, payments and making sure I had my completed kit from the school. The owner Ms Karine was so kind and involved in everything that happened. Ms Turquoise was my educator who always had amazing tips for us and was very understanding of our personal issues or preferences when it came to nails. Ms Erika was always there to help as well. If I ever had an issue they did their best to help me and make sure I was able to complete my hours no matter what. While in class, I met amazing women who shared the same passion in nails as me. Our educator made it interesting to learn about all things nails and the proper way of things. But because of COVID we had to split the hours both online and the remaining hours had to be physical, to which we had to wait until we had the green light from the state to be able to return to class physically. It was all very new and confusing but I believe things were handled in the best way possible considering the situation. During that time I took a leave of absence which resulted in me taking more time to finish the course than we had intended. I finished in 2021. Regardless, they made sure I had my completed hours and received my certificate of completion. Ms Turquoise made sure I was ready for both the written and practical exam of the state. You are tested "out" in their method before you are truly finished. We acted out the exam as if we were taking it; which I found to be the most helpful. With their help, I turned in my application to take my state board test. For personal reasons, I missed that appointment and have yet to reschedule. But I would definitely redo the course or join a different course just because I thought it was great! read more

This is a review for the salon manager! VERY unprofessional! I regularly attend the church down the street from the school. I have been meaning to come down to the salon since it is so easily accessible for me. I came in on a Monday around 6pm before my worship group to check out a few prices. I was in COMPLETE SHOCK when I arrived to the cosmetology department salon only to be greeted with loud derogatory music with foul language blaring from the speakers. I tried my best to ignore it, and continued inside to ask a few questions about salon prices. The woman I spoke to was EXTREMELY RUDE to me without any reason to be as I was very polite to her. I assume she was the instructor/manager in charge because the rest of the people looked like students and seemed just as shocked as I was. The situation escalated and I asked her for her name. She REFUSED give it to me, but she is an OLDER WOMAN WITH PINK HAIR and a bad attitude! After coming here twice to fix from the first mishap . It was a lot of miscommunication and In the end I still hate my hair and of course it was all paid for. It can't be glued back on. It was hard to trust someone else since I been cutting my own hair for years I had so many bad experience and this adds another one. I honestly regret it and I hate looking at my hair. When helping coordinate a local city scholarship pageant recently we had several cosmetology schools fall through, we were thrilled when Victory Career College responded with such enthusiasm about helping with our event. Ashley and Karine were an absolutely pleasure to work with, they were organized, punctual and a joy to be around the day of the event. Not only were they able to provide hair stylist and make-up artists but they also offer nail techs and massages if that was something we had needed. This is my second time going here to get a massage and this time I brought my sister with me. I thought my first massage was amazing but the second one was even better! There are places on my body that I didn't know could hurt so good (like under the armpit area). I believe I received a combination massage but I don't know what that means...I just know it was so good that I can't wait to go back for more. My sister has received many massages before and she completely fell in love with her massage therapist. My sister said that she knew all the right places and the massage therapist even informed her when she knew it was going to hurt. I think they are open Monday thru Friday, 9am to 5pm with last appointment at 3:00pm. Go. You won't regret it. You'll wonder why you didn't sooner. I'm rating this as a customer that got a massage not as a student. In short, I got an okay massage in a creepy environment. I called ahead to make an appointment and they were nice enough on the phone. When I got there the doors were locked but someone heard me trying to get in and opened up. Another woman came over and asked me to fill out a medical form, standard stuff. Before I was finished she said it's fine I'll take it. It seems they're only concerned with the formality of signing the paper not the actual information. There's a list of services offered but she never asked and didn't seem to care what I was getting it was time to go. They varied in prices from $20-30. I should have spoke up at this point but honestly at a school I'm just along for the ride. The decor is just creepy. There's a hand full of private rooms to the left and on the right open air class rooms with multiple massage tables poorly light with Christmas lights. Not festively, just Christmas lights like you might see in the basement of a teenager. Then there's another classroom behind what used to be a garage. Still has the steel door on it. The room it self was okay, cheap looking but seemingly clean. The student decided to play some sort of up tempo department store jazz. It was an odd choice and not relaxing at all. She still never asked me what I wanted, if I had an injuries or even told me her name. That being said, she gave a decent massage. Firm pressure, checked in on me. Not very thorough but she didn't do bad for a student. The class rooms filled up during the massage and it was a battle of what could be louder the terrible music or the squawking students. Massage over, she asked me to fill out a performance review and said I had to pay her now. When I gave her the money she said, "What no tip". "Excuse me?", I said, "This is a school. Most places you don't tip students". "Not here. We tip." she replied. I'm a little embarrassed but I tip her. Flat out I wouldn't be going to a school to get a massage if I wasn't on a very tight budget. I don't mind tipping at all. But school policies in most schools is you do not tip students. This should be posted somewhere to avoid embarrassment. The school gets one earned star from me. One for decent technique. While attending VCC my self and countless other students endured malpractice from administration, blatant disrespect and student right violations. My personal financial aid information was given to a class mate I barely knew (not an authorized party to say the least) and I was verbally threatened by a instructor. When I brought this matter to the owners attention her response was "I thought it was ok to give it to your best friend". Again the student she gave my personal FA information to was a woman I met while attending VCC a month prior. Not a friend by any means just a class mate. Though I graduated I keep in touch with many of the students whom continuously share their experiences of being mistreated and having their rights legally violated. I would not recommend this school despite how convenient the location may be for some or the cheap tuition. Cheaper by no means constitutes that a student should settle while investing their time and hard earned money. read more
