I am a current student and finishing my last term before I go into externship. I can't say enough good things about the DMS program. Ms. Morgan started my experience here and Ms. A became our permanent instructor for both class and lab. During lab, we had all 3 instructors Ms. Morgan, Ms. A, and Ms. Wu. I attended the weekly lab that they offer every Thursday for students to attend and excel in their scanning. The instructors were patient, they were kind and most of all they always aimed for me to be the best that I could be so that I was prepped and ready for externship. Communicating with them came easy whether it was emails I was sending over the weekend, or in person when I was struggling with understanding the material. When it came to Miss Wendy, she has been so busy with running back and forth from both Long Beach and Anaheim campuses, I have no idea how she has the time and patience for all of us. She's always super positive and it's been really easy to approach her and talk to her as well. Right now Miss Wendy and I have been putting together the resume that I will be using to apply for jobs after my externship. This program was HARD but the instructors are always there to help. I feel a great sense of gratitude that I took a chance on myself and went back to school after my 30's and done having kids. If you join this program here at Long Beach, you are in good hands.

I went to their website and registered for the June course, paid the $250 fee, and only then noticed I had been enrolled in the May session instead. I never even viewed the May option, and this all happened within two minutes. I immediately registered again this time correctly for the June course. Since it was late at night, I couldn't call right away, but I contacted the school the next day to explain the situation and request a refund for the mistaken May enrollment. The woman I spoke with was incredibly rude, dismissive, and repeatedly blamed me, refusing to even hear me out. She said it's my fault and that it's none refundable and that I singed it. She made it clear that they wouldn't help. So, I had no choice but to dispute the charge with my bank. Then today, I received an email saying I was being refunded for the June class the one I actually wanted and was told I'm no longer welcome at their school for making a false dispute which is not true. Meanwhile, three of my friends registered with me, and after hearing about this experience, they've decided to go elsewhere. So congratulations you kept $250, but lost four students. I will be exploring legal action due to your unprofessional conduct and the clear issues with your glitchy website. Future students, do yourself a favor and find a school that actually cares.

I really enjoyed the Aviation program at this school when I started. For reference, I will be…read moregraduating in February 2026 with my General, Airframe and Powerplant written tests completed on my own time with a voucher from the school (one of the positives of the Aviation program). When I started, I felt like I was challenged: I was in a new field, I was using my brain in new ways to complete projects that felt out of my league; to my surprise, I have passed all of my courses with flying colors. I have never failed a final or a class, and I've maintained a steady 3.5 GPA, despite being homeless due to the egregious prices for student housing (I could write a whole other review in that alone... ) However, as I'm nearing the end of my academic career at UTI, I'm noticing a severe imbalance in the expectations for the students VS. the curriculum they're given. The curriculum, specifically in the Airframe and Powerplant sections, is either severely, SEVERELY lacking or is WAY too much work to fit into three weeks of class. For example, our Sheetmetal classes (both Beginner and Advanced) were packed full of projects. We were starting a new project every other day, and it was messy. I got along as best as I could and completed most of my projects with good grades, but I couldn't help but notice how many equally qualified classmates were struggling to meet their deadlines because of how much they were expected to finish. When you only have two pressurized air tanks and one drill press shared between classes ranging from 15 to 50 students, I have no idea how you expect every single one of us to return a perfect, industry-standard project to you. For my second example: Turbines and Props. As a technician in training, this is the meat and potatoes of being a technician. You WANT to know what is going on with these systems hands-on as much as possible, for the safety of yourself and others. But despite this, not a single day (or maybe one day, if you're lucky!) is spent doing hands-on training. We have a Piper 28R-180 in stellar condition, a Robinson R-22 and multiple turbine engines to work with. Why are we not being dragged by the shirt collars to study these?? Instead, our instructors are putting on YouTube videos for the last 4 hours we have to sit here. On that note, let's talk about the "seat time" requirement. This school is over 3 years behind FAA regulations when it comes to seat time. The FAA repealed its former seat time requirement in May 2022, according to CFR Part 147 subpart 17, Paragraph A-3 (I will attach a photo.) This seat time requirement was repealed when the FAA began feeling a rising demand for new AMTs. So, they updated the terminology from "seat time" to "proficiency-based" in hopes of training as many new AMTs as possible to fill the demand. However, UTI still insists on this outdated seat time requirement. You come in to school, get your work that's due done within an hour, and waste the rest of your day sitting in class doing quite literally nothing, and those of us who will excel in the field are passing (i.e. Proficient, according to CFR Part 17, Subpart 17, Subparagraph A-3. Look it up.) If you want us here for 4 more hours, you need to be giving us hands-on experience instead of showing us YouTube shorts. Otherwise I would love to use the rest of my day to work so I don't go into debt repaying this sorry excuse for an AMT school back for curriculum that gives me the bare minimum. Spend $50k somewhere else until this school gets it together. Lots of love, figure it the f**k out, Greyson P.S: Change the damn acronym. "Universal Institute of Technology". I will never wear this school's name proudly.

I attended in 2023 and have simply been trying to obtain my transcript and clarification on whether my coursework was measured in units or credits. This is basic information, yet I've been sent in circles without resolution. It's very frustrating and unprofessional. Additionally, after graduating from the automotive program, I can confidently say the education was not worth the $40,000-$60,000 cost. I've seen more in-depth instruction and hands-on training at community colleges for a fraction of the price. In my opinion, the program does not justify the tuition.

BUNNIES. Everywhere, all the time, and they're fat and imposing and not skittish at all. You WILL be having to move out of their way, because they won't move out of yours. This has been going on for years and years and is sort of a charming part of LBCC. There are just as many bunnies as students on campus at any given moment, and it's comical. Social life and opportunities on-campus are also a plus. In general, the culture here is very chill, very live-and-let-live. There are constantly scouting events, some subtle and some not, so if you have any desire to be on a t.v. show or in a movie, or a part of some experiment or prank or whatever, you don't have to look very hard...it'll be just as likely that you'll get approached first. Parking lots (of which there are several, including a five-story complex), on top of the fact that you have to pay for a new sticker every semester, are ill-equipped to handle the volume of cars that LBCC needs to host. In addition to having to leave wiggle room for everyday traffic, I vividly remember having to leave additional room on top of that for the parking lot circling. The one great thing this school had going for it was/is a big handful of the instructors. I had a few that made a positive, lifelong impression on me, and I'm grateful for that. Extra shoutouts to Lauren Dees. Her drawing class was AMAZING!
