I finally gave in, I finally did it, and I am not ashamed. This will definitely become a regular lunch run for me, especially in light of the fact that the large hot dog that I had, The Gyro (pastrami, tzatziki sauce, and the usual fixings such as shredded lettuce and onions and tomato), was less than $10. The toppings offered are boundless, and if ever there was a menu with an exhaustive list of hot dog toppings, I am afraid I have just found it, the search is over, ladies and gentlemen. Something that the chef said is what makes a large hot dog a large size, is the combination of grilled shredded cheese on top off broken up potato chips, prepared on the same griddle in the juices of the meats. The pastrami, which also had some quality time on the griddle, was dipped in some sort of au jus or oil before being grilled, and I'm certain that's what added to its juiciness in the final dish. Cannot wait to review a few more creative combinations off this menu, and I cannot wait to be back. I have eaten here many times before, and it is always delicious. But today I was offered a chance to try a new creation, the Sweet BBQ Dog. Quality bun, hot dog with bacon, pickles, onions, bbq meat(can't remember if it was beef or pork delicious though), molasses, honey mustard, more bbq sauce, then topped with Fritos cooked on the griddle for the win!! I will never go there again. I'm just wanted a pastrami sandwich or "dog" as they call it. I had asked if The sandwich came with other meats than pastrami and was told what cheese goes with it. So I ordered and see her start cooking a hotdog, I ask for it to be left off, I am told no. I ask for only half of it (because it was split length wise) and she tells me she isn't supposed to but she guesses she will. I explained that I didn't mean to be a bother but I had previously asked, to which she replied "well it's pretty freaking obvious it's comes with a hotdog unless you're blind, you can throw the hotdog away or do whatever with it after you pull it off; but I have to give it to you because we aren't a sandwich cart we are a hotdog cart" I have never been spoken to so rudely when simply trying to save a company money and time. The food is really good. That being said, while they were all smiles accepting money for gift certificates, they always give us the stink eye and a little attitude when we try to use them. This isn't new. It's been going on for over a year as we slowly try to use them. My wife won't go anymore because of this, since she doesn't want to have the hassle. Half the time I've gone, they want use to use less in certificates and pay some cash too. Just to reiterate, this was also before covid. Digs: A humble tent in downtown Medford; a innocent setup but packed with compartments of toppings; an industrial-sized hot plate where the greasy sizzle brings together edible surprises; Ate: - Pulled Pork - spicy with a dash of ghost peppers according to the Chef; juicy...dripping with special sauce that burned so good (hot but not uncomfortable); - The Pastrami - a hardy spin on the classic sandwich, toppings overflow with meat dancing and requiring a heavy dose of mint gum later; Service: This is where I was "wowed" by the conversation we had with the creator and owner; though some may find him a bit chatty, he was kind and a bit of a mad-scientist about his outdoor kitchen; he rattled off combinations that were unlisted on the bulging menu; Victory Dogs brings a sloppy sophistication...if that's possible... to a American standby. I cannot figure out the 5 star ratings. My soon to be ex-husband (and these dogs may have had a little to do with it) brought home dinner one night. If you want "just a hot dog" this is not the place for you. However, if you want a delicious, filling lunch for under $10, this is most definitely the place for you. Chuck has hundreds of different possible combinations- all with at least bacon + dog- and I've only been able to try a handful of them. My two favorites are the Synyster Dog (pepperoni, fried cheese, pulled pork, hot dog, bacon) and the Mini Deep Dish (pizza, but on a upside down hot dog bun). I'm glad that I'm not going to RCC for the summer term or I'd be going there multiple times per week for lunch. My stomach would thank me but my wallet...not so much. It's just so good. I opted to try this stand for the first time today. My first impression upon my arrival wasn't a good one. The gentleman I presume is responsible for the cart was sitting in his van smoking. After catching his attention he slowly found his way to the grill and, without washing his hands, took my order and began preparing my food. I did my best to briefly push this from my mind and give the food a fair try. As far as the food...I was swayed toward the pastrami dog. Aesthetically, it was sloppy. As far as taste, it wasn't the worst thing I've eaten but seemed more like a bunch of random items thrown together than a thought out compilation of food. It ultimately led to a displeased stomach. All were fantastic. Good ingredients, put together well. They have some crazy combinations and everything sounds great. While we were reading the menu out loud the owner advised us that "everything is a hot dog and everything comes with bacon". Yum. Was driving through downtown Medford a couple of weeks ago on vacation, my husband spotted this hot dog cart. Ohhh, in unison, we both said, "let's get a hot dog". We parked and made a b- line to the cart, when we got closer...our senses were on over drive. It was not a steam cart, it had a full size grill! The menu had sooo many style combinations with a ton of toppings including other meats. If what you're hankering for is not a combination on the menu...just ask.
