Now she often doesn't want to leave when I come to pick her up! The teachers are all amazing at working with toddlers and it's been helpful for me with my own parenting to observe how they deal with various problems, get the kids engaged, etc. during my parent volunteer hours. The co-op aspect is also great for meeting other families!

They have also been doing and excellent job with the COVID-19 pandemic with taking precautions to keep everyone safe and secure during this uncertain time. I am so happy to have found this place. Having both a Toddler and an Infant we have worked with the majority of the childcare providers throughout the school--and they are all outstanding. I feel that Whizz Kids is an extension of my home: a supportive atmosphere where children are loved and nurtured. Learning there is hands on and creative. Lesson plans are organized and aptly communicated to us as parents. Additionally, we are able to see pictures of our children online via a secure website as they engage in various activities throughout the day--this is a welcome repreive from work as it makes me feel more connected to my kids! Professionally, I manage a group of clinicians who provide care to seniors, not fundamentally unlike a Childcare/Pre-School, just working with people at the other end of life. Finding the quality people who are caring, responsible, educated and professional is a difficult and never ending task. Whizz Kids has excelled in this area and I couldn't be more proud of the outcomes they have helped my children achieve. I couldn't recommend Whizz Kids more highly.

Having gone through the day care search process and researched/ called / visited dozens of them in Seattle, I realized how difficult it was to find a pleasant & reliable care provider as a first-time parent, and I feel so grateful to have my child enrolled at CLCC, a gem in the U District that stands out among its peers. Here are a few highlights that come on top of my mind: 1. The teachers and staff express genuine affection and interest in the children. I can see my child feels very happy and safe around them. Even on her first day, my 15-month old quickly established connection with her teachers. And within a few weeks, she became very much attached to them and was even interacting cheerfully with the teachers from the elder classrooms. 2. Diverse activities throughout the day to engage the children in learning, singing, dancing, art, walking around the campus, reading books, etc and I love it that they encourage the kids to express themselves in different activities and social scenarios. They thoughtfully kept a collection of my toddler's "art work" over the past few month to bring home, which is cute and precious. 3. The children learn to practise a lot of basic life skills in their daily routine. From taking off jacket/shoes and placing them in the right place in the morning, to sitting properly for meals/snacks at table, cleaning up after meal, washing hands before/after meals, to taking out blanket for afternoon nap, etc. I was totally impressed when I watched a roomful of kids doing these all by themselves at a lunch visit. 4. Very accessible & responsive administration. Michelle, the director, was really fast at responding to enrolment inquiries and scheduling a tour for me(before finding CLCC, I contacted some other daycare centers that respond very slowly or sound impatient, and ask for a waiting list fee ). Fabulous job in efficiently maintaining the wait list and for replying to emails and answering the phone calls quickly. It really means a lot for parents that are anxious to nail down a good care. 5. Though it is a program of the UCUCC church, they are open to the entire community and not limited to church members, and, they don't impose religious content in the curriculum. As a non-religious person, I feel grateful to the UCUCC and the entire staff for running this excellent program and making it available to the entire community. Thanks to all the CLCC teachers and staff for your good work. Please keep it up and keep it rolling !

Our two-year-old daughter has attended ELDC for about six months, and we have been grateful for them every day of it. The staff there knows her, and they care about her individual needs. Whenever they have a concern, they reach out to us and work collaboratively to help our daughter grow. (Such a change from her last daycare, where all we heard was she was doing 'fine.') Similarly, when she accomplishes something new, they're eager to share the news, and so proud of her! The staff at ELDC is in tune with the needs of their charges, and they build their lesson plans around ensuring the kids have the sort of experiences that will help them the most. This doesn't come in the form of dull lectures, but in games, art projects, and exploration. Our daughter has learned so many wonderful, practical skills since attending. Putting on her shoes, for example. The staff models kindness, hard work, and helpfulness to the kids, and the kids respond to that. What I love most about ELDC is how involved the staff is. This isn't a place where the adults stand off to the side looking at their phones while the kids entertain themselves. They're reading them books, dancing with them, teaching them songs, conducting experiments. Every day at ELDC is an adventure! In short, my shy daughter runs into school with a smile on her face. And when I ask her what makes her happy, she frequently names her teachers. They love her, and she loves them.

They fired the best teacher they had in the toddler room and proceeded to try covering the positions themselves rather than hiring qualified and experienced workers, in order to save money. On more than one occasion at pick up they were understaffed and over child:teacher ratio. I witnessed kids running amok and getting injured with not enough staff to handle the chaos. What ultimately led us to leave was the MULTIPLE occasions of my child coming home with bite marks that went unnoticed and unreported by staff, dirty diapers/clothes with poop left on them, and poor cleanliness of the facility. I had to pull my kid out as it didn't feel like a safe place for him any longer, which is so sad because they had some really great teachers and it hadn't started out that way. The new owners seemed in over their heads, and full of empty promises but then refused to make necessary changes and on were rude and disrespectful to their employees.

Our daughter, Aviana, joined Willow Tree in 2021, during COVID, as part of the first Tiger class…read morewhen she was three years old. After a wonderful nanny-share at home--where we could closely observe and control every aspect of her day--my wife and I were understandably nervous about transitioning her to preschool. We did extensive research and toured nearly ten preschools and daycares. Willow Tree immediately stood out. From the very beginning, it was clear that the director, Liu, and the entire staff were genuinely loving and attentive caregivers. From her first day, Aviana loved going to school. Her development accelerated noticeably--she made friends, gained confidence, and even happily ate the school-made lunches. We initially had questions about the Mandarin immersion program and whether it might delay Aviana's English development. Liu reassured us that the opposite would be true, explaining that children's brains at that age are "like sponges," capable of absorbing far more than we often realize. She was absolutely right. Aviana's English continued to flourish, and her Mandarin grew from zero to a working knowledge of the language--truly incredible. To sum it up: if we had to do it all over again, we would choose Willow Tree without hesitation. Two years later, we enrolled our younger daughter, Amelia, when she was just a year and a half old. She began in the Bunny class, moved on to Penguin, and is now in Tiger. She loves it. Her Mandarin is now as strong as her English, even though we speak only English at home. On more than one occasion, I've caught Amelia dreaming in Mandarin--a constant reminder of how much she has learned in such a short time. Willow Tree has provided an exceptional academic and developmental foundation for both of our girls, along with a truly welcoming and supportive community. As Amelia prepares to graduate, we know we'll remain connected through the friendships our daughters have built and the families we've come to know beyond the classroom. She joined the Penguin class…read morejust after she turned 2 years old and her Mandarin Chinese has blossomed from the exposure at the school. I'm so surprised how much Chinese she can understand and speak and she can even sing songs in Chinese. While I can speak Chinese, I usually forget to so it's great to know she's able to learn it at school. The teachers we've been exposed to at WT have all been warm and inviting. Our daughter doesn't warm easily and the transition was long and difficult but the teachers embraced her with love and care. I was a little skeptical at first to hear there were 20 kids, such a big class, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Because there are 20 kids, there are also 3-4 teachers. By having extra teachers, this helps when a kid or two are having a meltdown or just need a little extra love and attention. With some of the kids in the class being older and being able to better regulate and play with themselves, this left the extra teachers to help with the younger, new kids who needed extra help. We attended a different preschool briefly before WT where there were 7 kids and 1 teacher and that teacher seemed to just be in survival mode because they couldn't get to all the kids that needed attention or assistance. Whereas the WT teachers always seemed happy and had good energy. We also love Liu, the director. She cares deeply for the kids and brings amazing energy. It's always a joy to run into her and catch up. Your kids will be in good hands at WT!

The staff are incredibly warm, caring and dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where each child is valued as an individual. The classrooms are thoughtfully designed to foster independence, creativity and critical thinking, with a perfect balance of structure and freedom. My child flourished here - not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. The Montessori approach allows them to take ownership of their learning, explore their interests, and develop at their own pace. The emphasis on hands-on learning and practical life skills has been invaluable, and it's amazing to see the growth in confidence and self-reliance. As a first-time parent, I've learned so much from the teachers here - not just about my child, but about parenting. Their gentle guidance and encouragement have been such a support to me. The way they model patience, respect and positive discipline has helped me approach parenting with more confidence and understanding. Love that they differentiate outdoor shoes from indoor shoes to keep the classroom floor neat and clean, love the concept of stone soup festival for fall (kids learn to bring their favorite veggies to share with all and prep the food together), love that they host special celebrations for Mother's Day and Father's Day (customized), love that they have a super huge sandbox outdoor with covered so it won't get wet, love the staging / theater cabin where kids can explore their endless imagination, love their slide are wide and smooth, love that they don't share hamlet to prevent lice. My kids learned so much not just about colors numbers alphabet animals but also the space, planets, insects' life cycle, math, earth, ...etc that my kids were ahead when they started kindergarten.
