I bring my daughter here and she absolutely loves it. The instructors are really good with the kids and make the classes fun while still teaching discipline and respect. Mr. Hickey is a cool guy, and Espinosa is great as well -- everyone is welcoming and easy to talk to. They did not communicate to me at the time of renewal and prepayment for an entire year that my child would need to be in advanced classes now that she is a blue belt and she would not be able to move up belts 2 days before belt ceremony. I looked at their schedule for the advanced classes and none of the times fit our schedule. I reached out and expressed to Mr. Hickey that had this information been communicated to me BEFORE renewal and prepay for the year....I wouldn't have renewed. I asked for a refund and they are refusing to give me my $2600 back. This place is all about sales, they don't care about anything else. They just want to take your money and sell you a bunch of crap you don't need, don't communicate about important things because they don't care. Master Espinosa and Mr Hickey are such a caring team. They have standards and expectations, but that's what martial arts is about. They push commitment too - because again, that's what martial arts is about. I think families who think it's unfair they want you to commit to earning goals should just not train in martial arts. This is a sport you join with the goal of one day being a black belt. I know that if I am financially committed, I will keep my kid committed too. They're very transparent about this and try to offer savings for families who commit long term, which I am grateful for. They also have specific classes for different ranks. Like all sports kids who advance usually adjust to a new skill level class. However - they are totally willing to work with you if the schedule doesn't work. They'll let you stay in the class that works for your schedule and teach your material on the side. It's a team effort with the parents and the instructors. Family plan for the win! We had been passively looking for activities for our two older kids (5 and 7). We wanted them to compete, be challenged, and learn some valuable life skills. Some friends recommended martial arts, especially because my son was a ball of energy and getting harder to corral. One friend recommended ATA in Stevenson Ranch and after my wife attended a women's self-defense class they put on, we decided to give it a go. First, we've been very pleased with the life skills and "old school" values that the program emphasizes. Respecting parents/elders/higher belts is awesome, and I found that my daughter even started using phrases like "Yes I Can" when she was trying to do something challenging. That alone made it worth it. But as a major bonus, we signed under a family plan, so now I take Krav Maga and my wife has started taking X-Fit boxing. This is what really made the plan affordable for us. I'm particularly enjoying the Krav classes so much. All the staff and helpers are wonderful, and the other classmates (kids and adults) have been so great. I highly recommend. Another quick note: they do have a few up-sell moments that I don't love, but they're not pushy, which I appreciate. Overall I can take all but the sparring class, so we're happy with that. read more

Our family started with ATA martial arts in 2005 when our eldest son was only four years old. He went on to receive his first and then second-degree black belt. Over 10 years later, our eldest son decided he wanted to go back and pursue his third-degree black belt, his two younger brothers and sister were thrilled at joining in and learning taekwondo. Beginning October 2020, our three children started with ATA Martial Arts. There was no other studio that we even thought about joining. Since they began taekwondo, our three children have improved in so many ways. They've become more confident, experienced less sibling rivalry, and what is even more noticeable is that our son with ADHD has become much more emotionally regulated. I felt like this is completely business only and do not really focus on kids growth and development. They require a lot of extra equipments to buy from them and encourage other kids and family to get overcrowded within classes. Be careful when it is your first time enrolling your kid (s) here. They do a lot of sales talk (you would notice) and I felt I was a victim of it. I signed up for a year for my 2 kids that cost me almost $$$4000, with other accessories separate from tuition. And they did not disclose to me that those are non refundable if not completed. Unfortunately, my kids didn't like it and stopped attending after few months only. I love ATA Victory Martial Arts. I have never been athletically inclined. It doesn't come naturally to me. I began taking Krav Maga classes around May 2019; once a week. I was super nervous. The first couple of months were hard; like I said, this kind of stuff doesn't come naturally to me. But the more I came, the more comfortable I became. Now, 6 months later, I'm coming to classes 4 days a week. It still doesn't come naturally to me, but it's fun. Plus, it's a great work out. When I work out on an elliptical, it's so boring. All I can think about is: how much longer? Is my heart rate high enough? Am I sweating enough? Not too much? With Martial Arts, all of that is an afterthought. I'm too busy learning and remembering the moves, talking to my partners, listening to the (wonderful) instructors; that I do not even notice how high my heart rate is. Sweat is only noticed when it gets in my eyes, haha. I'm very glad I found ATA Victory. read more

My experience with Victory Martial Arts is very disappointing. Master Espinosa failed my son to the next belt level without any heads up or warning. He just told him he won't advance during the graduation ceremony and embarrassed my son and husband in front of other students and families. Any caring instructor would have helped my son to achieve the skills to proceed to the next belt level. My son was so disappointed and cried his eyes out. He's 8 year old. They failed him on purpose, so that we have to pay more for him to advance. It's a complete money pit and you constantly get harassed to purchase extra gear. Both of my older kids get harassed 100% of the time to join whenever they step foot into the studio. They now refuse to go, because they feel so uncomfortable. In December an email was sent out for a Rank Advancement Camp. When I enquired about the camp, I was told that the camp was for other kids, not my son. But that they would make an exception if we paid more. When I asked Master Espinosa to honor his advertised price, he didn't even respond to my email. We've been singled out to be embarrassed and shamed and we will definitely not continue with Victory Martial Arts. They just sent out an email saying they will increase their prices in the new year. Are you kidding me? They charge $220/month and this is a continuous program 12 months out of the year. That's $2,640 annually and they are increasing prices? For 2 kids classes a week? And if you pause your membership for a few weeks to get a break or go on vacation, they will fail your kid as punishment. It's a total money pit. When my son had to spar in class, they would pair him with higher ranked kids and did absolutely nothing when he got beat up. The kids/families don't matter-they are just after your money. I have been attending Victory Martial Arts for Krav Maga classes for one year now. To this day, taking these classes has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! I am going into college this year and the self-defense taught in their Krav Maga classes is so useful and great knowledge to have. While I observed my husband take classes (he's a second degree) there was a smile on my face due to the joy and fun everyone was having in class. There was such uplifting energy coming from the instructors that was contagious. You could see the care and discipline they were imparting in the students, individually and collectively; while also challenging the students to give all their energy into each drill. Coming into Victory, we knew that it was going to be a great experience knowing Gavin personally outside of Victory as well as going to school with his brother locally...what I came to learn was that there was something special about the way the schooled run...I was impressed by the fact that the Victory curriculum has made many studies in child development and how the values of leadership, honesty, discipline, integrity, community, confidence and determination can be instilled in a child through their program. I know it's a lot of work raising kids but it seems easier with the help Gavin and the amazing staff Mr. Kivi, Ms. Austin and others! My friends children attended here, they did not enjoy here at all. They do the same routines for Action Class and nothing new. They dont give enough attention to each and every student for improvement and is overfull with little room to participate. Believe me when I say overfull. They keep pushing you to take their specials because they need money. They only care about money here so read contract fully. If you mention you are leaving they treat you differently. All I can say is how thrilled I am that we put our faith in Master Espinosa and Mr. Kivi. A year ago, my boys started classes at ATA. My now 13 year old is absolutely thriving. He's super shy and introverted, but the instructors motivate him and have brought him out of his shell. He strives to do well and receives only positive reinforcement even when he doesn't achieve the goal set for him (for example, breaking a board). Master Espinosa, Mr. Kivi and Ms. Austin are all phenomenal with instruction for small kids through adults. I'm also taking Krav Maga there and really enjoying the exercise and tools they are teaching me. My younger son has some fears and I call Master Espinosa the "magic maker" because he is able to get my son excited about learning martial arts. All of them care SO much about the kids and their well being. I really cannot say enough about how pleased I am with the programs. read more
