This is a private club for British military, veterans, as well as same statuses for NATO and Commonwealth militaries. Their superb location close to Marble Arch tube station in the West End, combined with the low prices in their hotel, make it an unparalleled choice for quality-for-money accommodations in London.
The rooms are clean and functional. There are rooms where the toilet/shower/bath is shared down the hallway (there's a sink in the room). I think is this a great choice between a hostel (shared room, shared bathroom, cheaper) and a regular hotel room or Airbnb (own room, own bathroom, ridiculously expensive). There are also more regular hotel rooms.
There's a Lounge Bar, a restaurant, and a nice lobby area to relax. No room service menu, but there are a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants open late night within a couple of blocks and during the day, some other more traditional food.
In the immediate neighborhood, there's a very large, lovely park just steps down the street, and a Marks and Spencer Food Hall a few minutes walk away. The VSC seems to be nestled in a Middle Eastern-ish neighborhood, so there's a lot of local character, including a hookah bar and late-night places to eat.
Bathrooms: clean and functional, if a bit small, but uncertain if smaller than many bathrooms in older hotels in London. read more
