Lots of homeless folks live in the park at night, and there's no budget for maintaining the park and they lock bathrooms unless there's a softball tournament. If your dog rolls in human poop like ours, be warned and keep on leash at all times. Also, watch where you step. People don't clean up after their dogs either.

It's so cute to see all the dogs playing and chasing each other. The restrooms need to be fixed, they use portable restrooms. The actual restrooms are closed, I don't know why. They could also use a concession stand during tournaments because most people bring coolers but some other items would be nice like snow cones, hot dogs, nachos. Things like that. Other then that it's a nice place.

Decent basketball court. Nice area for a soccer or wiffleball game. A xeriscape demonstration area. You'll see a lot of people walking their dogs - pretty much always. They aren't supposed to be off-leash, but you will generally see a few that are - and their owners are generally on top of them. Not a grim amount of dog "dirt" left behind - lots of bags and receptacles provided, and they're generally used. You'll see lot of tennis and pickleball. Sometimes there are swarms of kids; sometimes just a few; sometimes none. The park is pretty and is well maintained by CABQ. If you're looking for a calm place to have a coffee or a picnic lunch, give it consideration.

I searched for an easy hiking trail with lots of petroglyphs, and the Rinconada Canyon Trial popped…read moreup. It is part of the Petroglyph National Monument. It's a 2.2 mile trail, with a 114 ft elevation gain. It took about an hour to walk. There was plenty of parking to be had in the parking lot, and there was even a restroom there. The trail is easy - you are basically just walking on sand the whole way, with a few tiny inclines and depressions. Go to the right when the trail splits, and towards the mountains of rocks. You will see barely any petroglyphs the first 1/4 of the trail, but then they start to come hot and heavy. I loved seeing such a wide variety of drawings, and it was so fun to try and guess what the artist's intention was. Apparently early settlers to the land added their own drawings to the stones, so some were dated as recently as 1919. The trail is a loop, so the other side is canyon side, with no petroglyphs, but plenty of beautiful flat scenery with native flowers.

It was December and the track was on break. However, a very kind lady named Adriana responded the same day. She was very kind and welcoming. She let me know when they would be starting back up and how to get involved. I was very intimidated as I don't know anything about BMX. She was so kind and welcoming. I am so thankful. We showed up on the first day of gate practice and Adriana set us up with a free day pass. She then directed us towards where we could get loaner gear. We were loaned a bike, helmet, and jersey for our 6-year-old daughter. She rode the course at least 10 times and got a bit of a feel for the gate process. She loved it. We went again today for her first race. Multiple people were so kind to my daughter who is very clearly a novice and Adriana helped us on how to understand the Moto sheets and such. We look forward to the season progressing and Novice training starting. I will highly recommend Duke City to anyone. Can't wait to see what the season brings.

La Palomita Park is small and seems nice. I like it because it is clean, but there are no…read moredesignated parking spaces, so you have to park curb side. My husband and I decided to meet here for lunch. Since there were no picnic tables, and since we didn't feel like eating at the bench, we ended up dining in our vehicle. The whole time we were there, only one other person walked through the park, so it was a slow, quiet day there. I've been told that the neighborhood that surrounds the park has a lot of older people living there, so this may be why the playground wasn't being used at the moment. I say if the city installs a couple of picnic tables, then this place can easily earn another star or two.

#47 for 2019 As im…read moresitting in the Hyatt waiting on my tab I thought I'd write a quick review on another concrete park in downtown albuquerque. This small, tiny little nothing of a park probably brings a bit of joy to neighborhood kids. There are some basketball courts and an awning. I see this park on my frequent walks through the Barelas Neighborhood. Similar to the other park ive reviewed ive never seen anyone here... but ive noticed "stalker" has been here. Maybe since spring is around the corner more kiddos will come out and play some hoops or maybe a quick picnic. A few blocks away is Barelas Park/Community Center and Tingley Park which both have more family friendly adventures to be had! Perhaps the City of Albuquerque can put some money in these smaller parks so that those that live in the area can have somewhere to hang out!

Other than that though, there isn't a ton else to do except use the sand volleyball setup. There is also a community center. I hear the center has a small gym that I am definitely going to have to check out one of these days. It is smaller than some of the other centers but again, super close to where I am.
