Such a cute coffee shop with a huge heart and mission! I am a sucker for supporting places that truly make a difference and this place does. They support the community, putting their resources back into those in need. The coffee was fresh, fun seasonal flavors, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Immediately upon entering Harriet and Colin greeted us with big smiles. They answered our questions and took the time to talk with us while making our coffees. I noticed the coffee shop driving through the neighborhood. I wasn't sure it was actually big inside until I actually went in. They have an outdoor patio in the back which has lighting for the evening. There are two entrances one is on 16th and one is in the parking lot. Upon entering the facility, there was a smell of water residue, which kind of turned me off at first I won't lie. Walking in you can see they have a huge grinder with sacks of coffee beans, there essentially grinding their own coffee beans to then roast and create drinks. I found that to be a huge plus. You don't see that often. There are hallways with seating as well as a communal space that is shared with a new juice beverage bar, which opened up next door. I think the coffee Roastery may actually be new as well. Other than the scent inside, I felt like it was big spacious and clean. Seems to be a little hidden gem in an area with an expected to be! There are bathrooms within the hallways, not near the eating areas which is always a plus. They're also seems to be a meeting room that they're building which would be really cool if you are a work from home person and looking for a quiet place to have a conference call or maybe get the team out of the office to cook grab a cup of coffee and a snack. It has a slide or tour for privacy. Other than that, the staff wasn't really friendly unfortunately. They were talking amongst themselves. Generally quiet little music playing overhead. People that were customers were nice but they seem to mostly be working independently. So it wasn't too loud maybe a nice place to plug-in to email, etc. during the workday. I ordered an iced vanilla latte. Coffee taste good. Overall, I didn't eat any of the food, but it was general bakery items like bagels and muffins. I'm not sure who they were provisioned with. I'll try it again in the future just to see if the experience is a little better but like I said, I think between the staff not really communicating or socializing with consumer and the scent that was throughout the facility. I think those were the two things that kind of turned me off a little bit. I'll be back though and give it a second try. read more

There is a special feeling that comes from walking into an establishment and they know your name and genuinely care about how you're doing. I get that every time I enter The Roastery. Now I know how the characters on 'Cheers' felt. :) The Roastery cares about its patrons and the community. Their "Good Coffee. Good Purpose" slogan is so fitting. The Roastery is also one of the few coffee shops where I buy in-store coffee, merch, and coffee beans for the house. The drinks are all delicious with some creative concotions. The Roastery is where I had my first matcha latté and I am officially addicted! read more

I love local and it being a cool day I figured I'd find a roaster in Wilmington to get coffee from before heading back to Jacksonville. I parked in the back and walked in and was amazed just how big the space was. From back entrance you could see several places to get some quiet time with your coffee. Couches and desk type spots to get some work done away from front area where most will gather and catch up. You could see the roaster where they bag coffee for purchase. That's what I like about these places. Once I got to front area there's one counter where they bag coffee they roast and wall of merchandise like t shirts and stickers. At the cashier counter where you order there's also sweet treats you can get with your coffee/ tea. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I got small caramel mocha .. they don't have whip cream but surprisingly it didn't need it.. coffee was very good and didn't have the wait like you do at chains .. I enjoyed my visit and I'll have to bring hubby next time.. read more

The Roastery has been on my list to visit for a while, and I'm glad I finally stopped by! Hip, clean interior with a heart filled mission behind the coffee. With each coffee purchase, a portion of the proceeds go to Vigilant Hope Non-Profit that supports and assists through community outreaches. Everyone inside was very friendly and it was the perfect place to open up a laptop and work for a few minutes. I will definitely be going back. read more

We visited the Roastery while visiting from Austin, TX today and wow, we were impressed!! The space is wide open and calming, perfect for getting focused and working. Not to mention, this place has a great mission outside of just coffee. They offer showers and meals to the community and this coffee shop helps fund that! Great coffee and a beautiful interior perfect for meeting with friends or getting work done (although my wifi refused to connect to their internet for some reason?? Not sure why--it seemed to work for other people). They also have a unique selection of lattes/cold brew flavors that I greatly appreciate, and friendly staff as well.
