New to the area and have been meaning to scope this spot out. The staff seems very friendly. The menu is decent sized and offers a nice variety. While I intentionally like to go out of my way to shop local, unfortunately, this isnt the spot for me. The largest size coffee they offer is 16oz, which would be fine if it wasn't so expensive and mostly almond milk. Paired with a breakfast sandwich my quick stop was $17!!! That's even more expensive than Starbucks. The vibe is cute and cozy, but that's what you're paying for sadly. read more

Super cute little spot after driving up and down gum branch for over a year I decided to stop on my way to class today! The waffle oh my is so delish!! What a cool place!! A welcome spot in our town from the everyday Starbucks and Dunkin!! I will celebrate and support local any chance I get. It's been here awhile and I go past it often and wanted to go with friend but never happened. Today I had early errands and figured I'd take the time to pop in and see what it's about! I love it! I grabbed a hot latte and a waffle and it filled me up! The staff was very nice and helpful. I admit I'm not a connoisseur so I needed a little help with what they have! I got hot latte with caramel and whip cream with regular milk! It was perfect! And the waffle was big and soft had great flavor! What I really loved is it's small and quaint but so comfortable.. in nice weather they have nice outdoor seating out back.. very cool place and I'm so happy I came by! Prices are reasonable too.. While vacationing in North Carolina, I was pleasantly surprised to find such a welcoming coffee roaster who makes a delicious cortado. The barista was friendly and knowledgeable. The shop was clean and orderly. The barista gave me the impression that the shop is committed to their community and that it is an important part of their mission. Local artists' merchandise are sold in the shop. The only thing I would add is for the shop to offer an option to have your coffee in a glass or mug. On the way into Jacksonville NC this is an excellent stop in. My 8yr old daughter and I both grabbed the Belgium waffles. The owner offered to make my daughter a custom drink, which wasn't on the menu and I ended up with the shakerato. All smiles for us. I've wanted to try Milk Road for such a long time (really since it first opened), but I'm hardly ever on this side of town. I finally decided to drive over and have gone twice in the past 2 weeks. My first visit was great. The barrista was very friendly and brought my drink out to the patio where I had settled in for my visit. I tried the iced masala chai and I think it's the best chai latte I've had here locally. The ambiance on the patio (not the little bungalow area) leaves a lot to be desired, but it is winter so maybe that'll improve in the spring. We've had a few warm days recently so I figured I would enjoy the outdoors while I could! My second visit was three days ago. I went in fairly early and stayed for most of the day. This time I ordered a hot masala chai. It wasn't as good as the iced, but still a good drink. I also ordered the quiche. I figured since no one else was there, the barrista would have brought my order out to the patio, but instead she just poked her head out and said it was ready. I was quite surprised at how small the quiche was for the price of $5.50. It did have a good flavor overall, but had burnt edges that were chewy. It was very small and was not filling at all. The masala chai is worth the trip, but I think food items may or may not be the way to go. Also, I would recommend to have better or more seating options inside for days the weather isn't great. If it hadn't been warm, I would have gone elsewhere since I had work to do on my laptop and needed a place to comfortably accomodate that. read more

I have to be honest: I respect places that are careful about Covid but to take away all the outdoor seating so that folks have to drink coffee in their car? No bathroom for the world weary traveler or child in need of a pit stop? You won't even greet me through a safe but enclosed window and instead I have to order on my phone? There are ways to do this safely without making it feel 100% transactional. The Milk Road has made a joyless experience in the current configuration, so if it's all about just getting a good cup of coffee and THAT doesn't really deliver, it's not a place I would recommend. read more

The coffee shop was cute, but it was very overpriced and the coffee was incredibly bitter. I'm not sure, I wasn't impressed. I also had a muffin and it was incredibly dry and crumbly for some reason. The caramel iced coffee I had was the best coffee I've had in a long time. Having moved from WA state that is saying a lot since they have so many local coffee places there. The staff was very nice and helped me pick my coffee and listened to what I wanted in a drink. I don't like overly sweetened coffee and this was exactly the level of sweetness I was looking for. I appreciated the military friendly atmosphere and the building itself is very unique and makes for a more local experience and out of the normal. All of the hype about their waffles are pretty worth it. I wish they were a little cheaper for the size, but they're delightful in flavor. I had a unique drink which was a special of the month, an iced strawberry matcha kind of deal. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect alternative to a regular coffee drink. It wasn't very big so it got busy and pretty loud on a Saturday. The parking can be a little too close for comfort. Overall, I had a pleasant experience. Been meaning to go to this spot foreverrrrr! I live on base, so it's on the other side of town. Took my husband and I a while to get our butts over there. Happy that we finally made it!! This spot is cute!! Once you walk in, you feel very comfortable. I literally smelled pastries. They had some fall decorations going on. Very creative menu board. Plenty of seating areas for your standard coffee shop. This is a place you wanna go to meet over coffee, especially for the first time date kind of thing. The music isn't too loud and it's very subtle and enjoyable. It's not pack or noisy to the point you can focus on your conversation and take in the chill vibe. They also have an Express Garden with seating out in the back. Very small, but kinda cute. I'm not a coffee person, so I usually drink matcha green tea from Starbucks. When I saw this place had it, I immediately wanted to try it. It was good! My husband had like this chocolate flavor coffee bean... I think "lumas" ?? Forgive me if I was wrong, but it was delicious as well. You can taste the hint of chocolate in it without it over powering the coffee. We also had their waffles and O M G. It was mind blowing! Totally different. It was kinda leaning towards a mochi waffle, but wasn't a mochi waffle. My husband described it as "rich" haha. Honestly, it was the best out of the three things we ordered. Once inside the actual atmosphere is everything I would want In a small town cozy feeling. I love how you can watch them make their pastries and not frozen like Starbucks.
