This will be a split review, but the main takeaway is that Viking Cab might leave you stranded, even with a planned booking, with no response to calls or texts. Normally I like to only give good reviews, but I feel that the public should be aware of the gamble. Viking Cab did pick us up on time for our ride to the Ferry to catch an outgoing flight, and we booked a ride ahead of time back home from the Ferry a few days later. They instructed us to keep them apprised of when we land, and when we get on the Ferry back to Bainbridge as, understandably, those elements can change. Ultimately, we received no response on the day of our return and found ourselves stranded, in the dark, cold, and rain. To boot, there was an elderly couple standing outside next to us that Viking Cab had also booked and left stranded. Allie was careful to choose a route that would get her there on time responding to traffic issues in real time. The Seattle airport had changed their sky cab service when they arrived. My mom is completely dependent on sky, cap and wheel chair service to travel and Allie went into the airport and got each of my mom's needs met so that she could safely travel. We utilized Viking Cab during our visit to Bainbridge Island and the Broedel Reserve. We called for a pick up once we were at the ferry terminal and one arrived within 15 minutes or so. Our driver was friendly and gave us a lot of useful information about the area. When it came to getting a ride back to the terminal, though, I was told it would be AT LEAST a 45 minute wait. Not sure if it was because they were low on drivers, they were busy, or both, but I was able to get ahold of another cab company who arrived in 20 minutes. Your options are limited on the island and while I wouldn't completely depend on them having drivers available, I would use them again in the future. read more

We called in advance to say we would be arriving at SeaTac airport late, around 11:00p. That coupled with an unreliable ferry schedule meant we weren't sure exactly when we would arrive at Bainbridge Island where we needed a ride to our home. Matt, the late night driver, monitored our progress via text messages and was there within a few minutes of our arrival at WSF Bainbridge. He provided great service and we will use him and Viking in the future. read more

Great reliable service -- if you can get one, that is. They are often busy and have long waits till pick up. However, they reliably call you back and show up when they say they will, which is greatly appreciated in a town where you can't just catch an Uber on the fly. read more

Being the only taxi cab company in the area, don't expect any sort of customer service or follow up from Matt. The voicemail is full, you might get a text from him, but if you don't hear back after replying with your details, take it as a "not interested". Check with your hotel as some of them know local drivers who are open for business, but might not operate after 10 pm. read more

While planning for an out of town trip I called Viking Cab to arrange a cab ride from the passenger ferry dock to my home. I was told that they do not have cabs waiting for the ferrys but when I was on the ferry returning to Bainbridge I could call and a cab would be dispatched to meet me. Last Sunday [May 8th] I was on the 10:40 ferry returning to Bainbridge and called. I was connected to their answering machine. I left a message to be picked up and requested if there was a problem call me and left my phone number. No cab showed up nor did I receive a call back, I called several times after arriving and got the same message. I live 5 miles from the dock, its a long walk. Uber is not readily available on Bainbridge Island. I guess on the weekends there is more availability but...Uber is not reliable. Viking Cab company, on the other hand, is always available (not always right away) on the island. While we had to wait 30 min to be picked up from the little town by the ferry...the service was reliable and we were able to set up a return trip with the driver (so we wouldn't have to wait so long). They are a small company but they are working hard to get folks from point A to point B. Our driver (I'm sorry, I can't remember her name) was very personable and informative about the island. If I'm going to be out on the island again, I'd call them for a ride without hesitation. :) read more

Had a poor experience with this company. I called on a Friday night a few weeks ago in Bainbridge at around 12 am and they claimed they'd be on their way. About 20 minutes later I get a call from the supervisor or someone who says that they had to cancel the driver for an undisclosed reason, and that there'd be no one coming. We ended up waiting another 45 minutes for an Uber to get us. The next morning I woke up to a text from Viking saying he'd reimburse me for the cost of the ride we took. Long story short, Viking claimed they left a check in my mailbox which I certainly never found, never compensated me, and never followed up. If they hadn't offered to compensate me that's be one thing, but because they did offer and did not keep their word I can't give them anything positive. read more

He arrived early and was able in our short trip from the Clearwater Casino to Poulsbo, to answer all my questions and add more information he knew I would want to know. I can't say enough good things about Viking Cab Co. I do a lot of work travel and this is by far the best experience I've ever had with a cab company. I asked the folks at the Best Western on Bainbridge what would be the best form of transportation to get to my event the next day. They suggested Viking with some great feedback and then called and made the appointment for me. Matty picked me up right on time in a super comfortable Chrysler 300 (I think that's what it was). I felt like I had called for a luxury black car, but got it for low cab prices! The car was clean and such a smooth ride. He was a total gentleman - took my bags to the car for me and even opened my door. He had great knowledge of the area, got me to the house with no issues and helped unload my stuff. I knew I would need another ride later in the day so I asked and he was able to work it into the schedule. I used the afternoon trip to get all the way back to SeaTac. I have to say I hate awkwardly silent cab rides so I was glad it was Matty who handled my trip. He gave me some history about what we were driving through and pointed out cool things along the way. It was awesome to have a great conversation with such a nice and genuine person (plus he's pretty cute too, which never hurts). Also, by using the service I was dropped at the airport earlier than I expected which kept my stress down and allowed me to grab dinner before my flight. I feel like this company is really focused on the customer experience. Complete fail with us. They completely forgot about us! I called the day before and spoke to Matt, gave my name, phone number and address. We requested to be picked up at 9:15 AM. Matt said he'd call 10 minutes before to let us know he was on his way. The next day we were ready, waiting and expecting Matt's call at 9:05. No call, so at 9:07 I called and got ahold of Matt right away, I identified myself and asked if he was on his way. I was immediately alarmed when he asked who I was and what was my address. When I gave him my address again, he said, "Oh yeah, another guy is on his way". Not feeling comfortable with this interaction with Matt, I called my neighbor and about 12 minutes later she took us to the ferry. On the way to the ferry, we saw a Viking cab flying/speeding past us presumably on it way to our house. We made it to the ferry with the two minute warning being announced over the speaker system. When we got home after our cruise, there was a message from the cab driver time-stamped at 9:30 AM stating that he was here and on our porch. If we waited for the cab we definitely would have MISSED the ferry. We wish we could pull less than a star on this review. I'm catching the ferry tomorrow for a trip, I will take the bus and save money and heartache! read more

This evening we had a really great experience with Mark. Because we were calling a little last minute, we were told that we'd have an extra 15 minute wait added on to our requested pick up time because no cars were in our area, which was no problem. A few minutes prior to pick up time, Mark was still about 5 minutes away so he gave me a call to let me know where he was and that he would be just a few extra minutes. I appreciated that call, especially with it being made BEFORE he was actually late. Mark was very friendly and a good conversationalist, which made our ride the most pleasant time in a taxi I've spent. I will make sure to request him if I ever need a taxi on this side of the water again, and I suggest you do the same! (He mentioned that he works the night shift - 6pm to 6am.) read more

My wife and I requested a pickup at about 10:30pm from a bar downtown and we were quoted 20 minutes until pickup. After 30 minutes, we had to leave the bar and were stuck outside. After calling and being told they were too busy to answer the phone, we texted and the driver said he was on his way. 10 minutes later STILL stuck outside, we called again and they did not answer again. We immediately ordered a Lyft and were able to get a ride in 10 minutes. There is a reason these companies are going out of business and this incident is exactly why. No tracking, no accountability.
