My friend hosted her wedding here recently. I can't speak to her experience during the planning process but I was really surprised when we showed up for the rehearsal and to start getting ready the day of the wedding. Basically they unlocked the door and we never saw them again until the dinner started. The bar opened about 15 minutes late into the 1 hour cocktail hour and I didn't even know who to check in with or where to find them to figure out what was going on. Luckily my friend was super busy taking pictures so she didn't really notice. I did enjoy the food. There was a pretty good variety of appetizers and entrees. The champagne was delicious! My friend and I both took a picture of the bottle so we could remember it later. They also set up a little coffee bar with flavored syrups by the dessert table which was a big hit. read more

We were there yesterday for a luncheon after a funeral. A young woman had lost her life far too soon and as her family sat and grieved and tried to share stories and be surrounded by loved ones we all felt pushed out of the venue. First of all, while the family was giving speeches no guests were getting up to eat, but all of the staff came out in the middle of the speeches and started making themselves plates, then sat in the bar area, visible to everyone, eating. Everyone in attendance had the decency to not move about or eat during the speeches, but staff did not. They came to the mother several times and asked what she wanted to do with all the food, she told them every single time she wanted to leave it out for people to eat while we all hung around and talked. They continued to pack it up. Some people asked for smaller boxes or something to take the food home in as the mother did not want to take it all. They were told they didn't have anything at all to package it in besides the big trays, but there were other people in the room with small boats for the food. The room was supposed to be booked until 4, they had food away and most tables down by 1:45 pm. The mother repeatedly asked them to slow down and they said they would, but kept going. By 2:30 pm they had tables fully bussed and were starting to put away tables and chairs, at that point pretty much everyone who was there to support this family, keep them company, and share stories had taken the message that they wanted us OUT so most everyone left. They closed the bar with no warning after the mom had said, when they kept taking the food and bussing table after she told them not to , she said fine just leave the bar open. The person paying the tab had paid up and left, probably bc they felt pushed out. I felt they could have at least told the mom the bar was closing or given her the option to pay for drinks for the remainder of the party, but no they just closed it up. The mother was sitting at the only table that had not been fully bussed in the whole room and a server comes up and tries to take her drink away, a half full glass of wine sitting directly in front of the mom, didn't ask just came and tried to take it. It was at that point the mom left, she felt mistreated and was clearly having a terrible day and didn't want to make scene or deal with any other issues as she had enough on her plate. I was very put off by the treatment of this family yesterday. On a day of mourning when they are trying to celebrate a life lost far too soon they were pushed out of a venue they had paid for. Even if the mother was mistaken on the end time for the party not once was she told that when she kept asking them to stop putting everything away. And that doesn't excuse the lack of courtesy for the staff to come out and make food plates during speeches and eat right in front of everyone during speeches. Even if the end time was a misunderstanding it was not handled properly at all. This was a funeral service, not a party. I felt the staff lacked courtesy at this event and I would not book anything there or recommend for anyone I know to book there either. read more

I was ready to drop this review to two stars, but , you have to remember its Schererville and not Chicago. You just can't rate them on that level. Their website boasts " The finest in banquet facilities" . Again I say, for Schererville, Indiana its probably the best place. It's surprising to find a place with smoking allowed in the main hallway / reception area and as the night draws to its close there is so much smoke its cloudy. They need to install a few fans to circulate air. Another example of the exterior not doing justice to the full breadth and overall size of a venue. I believe they offer 3 banquet rooms, all about the same size. The rooms are nice, nothing much to report back about, still better than say a banquet hall at a golfing club. Food was alright, plain, some might skip it and hit anyone of the restaurants on Indianapolis Blvd. I had the steak option it was overcooked and dry, served with a mushroom - brown gravy and boiled broccoli. A comment by another guest at my table, "it looks as if a plate was handed down a line and each person plopped a helping of food onto the plate, carelessly" Again, for out here, in a small town area it was better than I thought it would be. This reception had bottom shelf alcohol, I swear the bottles said it was alcohol but I couldn't taste any. If anything, the alcohol they used made the cocktails sweet tasting. Something that really stuck out was the care of the servers. There wasn't any. They were polite and quick with serving and removing. However when you come to grab the plates after the main course, please please!!! Grab one plate at a time. These people were stacking them on top of each other right in front of you! How disgusting and outright sloppy. A few times servers dropped dirty forks and spoons. I've never EVER seen this done right off of a table till the other day. Also the careless way the servers made their way through the aisles, they were good about avoiding collisions with people, but careless when putting down plates and paying attention. Thrice my bro got hit in the back and head with serving plates. Pay attention! Then the men's room, why do they have a closet type door for the entrance to the restrooms? Also why are there so few washrooms and positioned in different areas. As the night goes on doors to each banquet hall are left open. So any drunken or attention less person may walk out of the washroom and right into the wrong hall. As long as its open bar throughout, who cares right? For photo's they have a grand chandelier in the center of the main hallway, a pagoda style gazebo out back and a lighted fountain in the front. I was a wedding reception guest here and beyond my disdain for what appears to be weddings birthed out of David's Bridal circular this place had the worse service I have ever experienced at a banquet hall. The right side of the room got the food a full 15 minutes before the left side of the room. The wait staff practically ran before they dropped your plates down and when asked they type of wine on the table or the type of soup they had no guess. I understand the majority of them were likely highschoolers, but come on at least pretend someone spent thousands of dollars on this. The rooms are also divide by a partition--think your high school gyms sliding wall. So you when it was quiet you could hear music blasting from the party on the other side. For what I heard was 28 dollars a plate, the food was terrible. After leaving the high school prom this place put on we stopped at a gas station and got a slice of pizza. My gas station pizza was better than all the food that place carelessly threw on the plate. The bathrooms got progressively worse throughout the night. They have restrooms on both sides of the hall and by the end I would say 3 of the 8 toilets in both the women's restroom were clogged and disgusting..in addition to the trash on the floor. If you are into to that forced, chain store dream wedding this place can delivery. I peaked in all the rooms while I was there and they were all slightly different, but the same. read more

We had our wedding there on Friday, June 12, and overall it was a great experience. I dealt with Kim and Gino and both were very friendly and helpful each and every time. Did have problems getting through to them through email, but you can easily reach them by phone. We had both our ceremony and the reception there and if we had to do it all over again, we definitely would. The food was great (I LOVED the roast beef, my husbad LOVED the baked chicken) and heard from guests that they enjoyed the food a lot. read more

Horrible! I was a guest at a wedding here. The "ballroom" itself was quit plain and bland nothing special or memorable at all. What was special was that this place has 3 weddings going on at once and the ballrooms are only separated by a partition (think fold away partition connected to the wall) during prayer, dinner and toasts we could hear the music blaring from the adjoining room! What is worse is the service, or lack thereof. The servers are all teenagers who will throw a plate of food down in front of you before running off. I have a lot of allergies and wanted to ask what food was being served but the server had no idea and just shrugged her shoulders so I asked another server, same thing. The back of the room was served a full 20 minutes after the front of the room. Some of the food was served on Styrofoam plates. When they collected the plates they stacked them all on top of each other splattering food all over and dropping several pieces of silverware in the process. The food itself looks like it was carelessly thrown onto the plates. The meat was as tough as beef jerky the rest of it was very bland. A hotdog from a hotdog stand would have been better. Some people from one of the other weddings ventured into the room rented out for the wedding I was attending and were steeling candy from the candy buffet and sweets from the sweet table. A drunk guy from one of the other parties also too over our dance floor going cray for all of about 2 minute until he was escorted out. The alcohol was bottom shelf. Usually a decent place will provide good alcohol without paying for an upgrade. Not here. Bathrooms, not cleaned through out the night and by mid evening were filthy with garbage on the floor and unflushed toilets. Pay a little extra money and go somewhere nice. You really do get what you pay for. Don't embarrass yourself by having your wedding here! read more

I had My daughters Bridal shower here in April and the service was above what i ever expected. It was a great room setup the Brunch was delicious and the staff went above and beyond for me. However my daughter had her reception here and the service was terrible, waitresses were taking plates from guests before they were even finished eating. Many of our guests complained that the chicken was still red in the center and it took forever to bring more out. The bridal parties cake was not delivered until after 9 and when i left the hall and i was the last to leave...there were 20 plates at the bridal table all having a slice of cake remaining on their plate ...what a total waste of our money for a wedding cake never eaten because it was served so late. The security guard there was the most ignorant person i have ever met in my life and really gave my daughter and Son-in-Law a hard time telling them he was the COP there, He was very rude to our DJ and told people and i Quote "this Animal Party will be over soon". I have spoken very highly of this place after the shower, but since the wedding i wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. My daughter got back from her honeymoon last night and called the owner Rich to let him know what went on and he told her he got the story from the Security Guard already and there is a communication mishap that he has never had trouble with this guy before...so obviously he isn't worried about bad reviews but its a shame the Security and serving staff have no respect for paying customers and give the hall a bad name.. We were looking forward to attending the wedding there because we had never been there and we have daughters that will be married eventually and thought this would be a good way to check it out. We woudln't do our daughters weddings there or anything there. Food was cold when it came out, family style, never asked us if we needed more food, never brought us water, coffee etc. For family style and and 10 people at a table way to cramped, 3 of us at our table didn't even get potatoes. Some of us didn't even have all the proper place settings. Service was horrible. They didn't serve our childrens table behind us, I had to go to the kitchen to tell them this was after the servers were already cleaning up tables, then I swear when they brought it out it was food from other tables because it was cold and if they had run out you would think it would have been warm. Picking up table ware off the table while you are trying to eat. Very poorly run catering and set-up. Would not recommend this hall to anyone with a wedding of any size. read more
