Today I want to talk about several staff members that struck me as exceptional. One of the first I noted was NA Rosio. These are things I noticed on ma last list, (but didn't do). Rosio had the smiley face and seemed genuinely glad to be at the Villas. She works rapidly, efficiently, and with quality. She constantly checks on her patients and follows up on every patient. She shows genuine concern. Also noted... Gina was still at the med tray and doing an outstanding job as usual. Susan was behind the desk as charge nurse. I will note others and include these names as they continue their outstanding work.

They have meals, physical therapy, laundry service and the patients are cared for and respected. My past experience with rehabs and skilled nursing facilities has not been good. Granted the facilities were in Riverside and San Bernadino County, not San Diego. St Paul's is excellent. The building is older, but the staff are top notch, the place is clean and everyone is cared for. There is a check in kiosk inside the door. The nurses are helpful to visitors as well as their patients. Visiting hours are 8am to 7pm ish. Thank you for taking great care of my friend. I look forward to seeing my friend home soon.

My 91 year old mother has been a resident there for more than 3 years and my experience with a majority of the staff and Esabel Cano in particular has been very positive. I live in New Jersey and am unable to see my mother more than a few times a year. I rely on Esabel and the other staff like Rosa, Sol, Randy and the other nurses and CNA's to not only provide compassionate medical care for my mother but to also to ensure that her day to day living is as pleasant as possible. My mother can be a very difficult and demanding person that requires an enormous amount of patience. Without going into the gory details, I will just say that anyone that can deal with her is a saint. They are always sensitive and caring to her and keep me informed on her situation regularly. I must also so that I have been extremely impressed with the precautions that the facility have put in place to ensure the safety of residents during this pandemic. While it is difficult for families not to be able to see their love ones, I for one am very grateful that visitors are no longer permitted in the facility. Their proactive and well-thought out plan for protecting residents should be applauded. It is pretty amazing that not one patient has contracted the virus. In normal situations, these jobs are difficult. The staff are putting their lives at risk every day and I for one, am extremely grateful.

The staff is caring and knowledgeable including the nurses and doctors. I was able to speak with the nurses as often as I needed. The doctors did call me to provide updates when requested. One big plus is that the doctors are associated with Scripps so they can and do communicate with the doctors from Scripps. This proved to be very advantageous since my father came to PLCH from Scripps Memorial in La Jolla. The rooms, common areas and hallways were kept clean. I did have a couple of issues with administrative matters otherwise I would have given them 5 stars.

When I asked to transfer to another facility, the administrator Dina, came to see me and moved me to another room that was much quieter. I had 2 obnoxious roommates after my first one died and Dina again worked it out to my current roommate who is working out well. Do not send things to the laundry as I lost a dress before realizing this is par for the course The staff was very kind and pleasant including when dealing with truly abusive and combative patients. This facility is the only one I have ever been to so I have no comparison. PT & OT were great. I greatly underage time I would need to recover from extensive back surgery. I'm currently set to leave in 2 weeks which is 14 weeks after coming here. One of the social workers was very helpful with discharge planning but the one usually here seemed distracted and did not follow up on homecare after several requests. I found the food to be decent but was unable to meet with the nutritionist after the first to change my original diet. A woman in I'm a paraplegic individual and was sent here for rehab after a stint in the hospital. I was checked in around 4-5pm and signed myself out the next morning! I spoke with Maricella, one of the staff with Hillcrest Heights. I explained my grievances and she was apologetic for what occurred. I cannot recommend this care facility for obvious reasons. I am filling a report with Adult Protective Services.

Since day one my mother and others I've seen for these years are treated so lovingly with dignity, care and much respect. The point of this review is to share why it's such a wonderful facility. Its because of all the employees that work there. I want to take the time to mention all of these beautiful workers. Each of them are focused and have personal high integrity. It's not just a job to them. For instance a CNA name Joanna once told me, "I work from my heart," and she truly does The other CNA's that deserve high mention are: LuzGraciela, CruzKatayna, Maria, April, Tatiana Shevchenko, Steven Legho in the dining room, Jackie (RNA) . Not to forget to mention Mike Adams Kitchen Dietary Supervisor, and everyone who works hard in the kitchen. Caroline (RNA) too! I want to mention Reggie Tamon Activities Director and Myrna Anderson who truly keep smiles on all the residences faces. Denise LVN too, (I don't want to leave anyone out!). Michelle Staggs - Social Services Director. She really brings a quiet calm to things. Chris - Dir. of Rehab and Bob -Sppech Pathologist. Dan Rojas - Infection Prevention. They employ men in the kitchen who harass CNAs, and the CNAs themselves are catty, rude, and unhelpful. One of the LVNs in memory care neglected my grandpa over the weekend until he had to be sent to the ER with septic shock!!! Thank you (I think her name was Christime LVN) for taking notice and sending him to the hospital. You should be ashamed of yourself Ivonne, no wonder your facility got a lawsuit.
