Yummy Italian food! The restaurant is located in the lobby of El Cid Castilla. It is not part of the resort. There were many locals on the night we went. That's always a good sign to me. We were excited to try this restaurant. We ordered pizza margarita, penne al vodka, lasagna, and rigatoni alla carbonara. My rigatoni was the favorite of the table. Everyone loved it. The penne was also great and the pizza crust was perfect. For dessert we got the crème brûlée and pastel de chocolate. Both were great, but the pastas were the stars of the meals. read more

Very clean, great service and great ambiance. The food was amazing. We ordered the ravioli in salsa rosa and added shrimp. The filling and sauce were top tier, both filled with flavor. We also got a pizza with half quattro formaggi and the other half was campagnola and we added pepperoni. The crust is very thin which was great. We're staying at El Cid Granada and Villa Italia is on property so we decided to try it. It was a nice evening so we sat outside on the patio where we could see them making pizzas. We ordered a Toscana pizza and a instalata primavera. Both were fabulous. The salad was spinach, pears, roasted pecans and feta with a Gorgonzola vinaigrette. Wow. So good. The pizza had Italian sausage, mushrooms and spinach. Surprisingly good. Definitely recommend and will return! Note for El Cid owners/guests: it's not on all inclusive and you don't get your owners discount. Still reasonably priced and well worth it. read more

My daughter order fettuccini. It was good but warm versus being hot. I order the chicken stuffed with asparagus and it was blah. Lacked flavor and the sauce on the outside was more like a salsa for chips. Unfortunately I would not go back here again. read more

This has always been my favorite place while we are here But oddly enough my husband felt like he was being treated different than usual because of how he was dressed . This bothered him because he was on vacation not because he is a white looking Hispanic . The food he received was cold mine was great . They fixed it but never came back to make sure it was ok and it just wasn't the usual treatment we have gotten there over the many years . I like to find positive in people , this one was hard but I still give them the benefit of the doubt ,Johnny the manger really tried to make the situation better for us . The food has been hit or miss lately. Not sure what has changed. My go to was the chicken Alfredo and the last few times I ordered it, it was very bland. I wish I could give a higher star rating. Maybe next time I go it will be better. Here's hoping! read more

Food was incredible!! My mom had the lasagna and I had the basil pesto pasta. We received two entrees, bread, and 2 sodas for less than $36 US and that's including the tip! Came here with my family of 5 for dinner last night. It's a great dining atmosphere, romantic but still casual enough and accommodating for children. We had the Margarita pizza, which the kids loved, pollo alla cacciatore, which the husband enjoyed, I enjoyed the manicotti y caneloni and their bread was also great. My son loves alfredo, but theirs was a big miss, will definitely pass on it next time. Not enough flavor. Overall it was an enjoyable meal. read more

Great service & wonderful food! We visited in March 2021. Not too many people around on a Wednesday night-St Patrick's day in fact. Super quiet because of Covid. We ordered pizzas, wine & salad. They bring out some amazing Gallic bread with oil, balsamic and Parmesan. The pizzas are very authentic Italian style. We had the 4 Stagioni (mushrooms, bell peppers, ham) and the Toscana (spinach, sausage, mushrooms). Both were amazing! Also ordered the Insalata Cesar and the dressing was very good. We had their Cabernet Sauvignon, which was delightful as well. All employees were wearing masks, they were very friendly & attentive. I sure I'll come back every time I'm in Mazatlan. read more

Order a Pacifico, in a frozen mug so cold a iceberg will form. Calzone and pizza made in a wood fired oven outside in the courtyard. I have had some very nice wines here a Barollo last time. Lasagna and tomato salad are very good too. read more

We just finished celebrating my 10 year anniversary here and it was phenomenal! I take back the whole getting sick from pesto thing, truth be told, I shouldn't be eating pesto. When we arrived the table was ready for us (12 adults and 4 kids) and we were provided excellent service from the moment we sat down. I always worry that service will suck due to large group, but nope. My mom had nothing to complain about. Both my parents were impressed with both service and food. My mom asked me to taste her pasta (olive oil with garlic, calamari, and shrimp linguini) and normally that's the "taste how bad this is" or "esta asedo", but she was surprised how delicious it was. We had appetizers, salads, pastas, pizzas, and drinks... All were good. The best part was the price. The bill came out to 3,072 pesos, not including tip. (By the way most restaurants include tip on bill for such a large , not here. They know they provide good service. So don't forget to tip generously.) This place is across the street from El Cid and Señor Frogs. If my parents loved it, I'm telling you its worth a try. read more

We went here because of the rave reviews. The inside is great, staff is also very friendly, good manners, and quick. BUT the food was not the best. We had carbonara chicken, pizza and tiramisu. The chicken was a little dry and it had a weird strong smoky flavor and not enough other flavors. Lots of chicken, but very little pasta ( I am a small person too). The pizza was bland and the flavors did not melt, nothing to write home about. Also, they used canned mushrooms on everything. The olive oil for the bread was good the bread not the best (dry) and the tiramisu was pretty good and the coffee. I am not sure why it was rated so great. The atmosphere was great, but the food was very disappointing. I am not really a picky eater either and was looking forward to better Italian food in Maztalan. There has been much Italian influence here, so yes, one would expect better Italian food in this town. We did try another less known place, great ambiance, great service, and fast. Vittore terrazzo ristorante across from Ramada. The food was AMAZING!!! The price was great too! We will return there. read more

We just had a great experience with Villa Italia La Cava! I'd messaged them on FB Messenger to ask if they had gluten free pizza crust. They don't, but said they do have gluten free pasta. They said I could order delivery through FB Messenger, which I did, but then got no response, so instead we called the restaurant and ordered some pizzas and a gluten-free pasta dish. When we ordered over the phone the cashier said no, they didn't have GF pasta. Disappointing. A short time later I got a response through FB Messenger saying Yes! they do have gluten-free pasta, apologizing for the confusion, and because of the confusion we'd get our pasta free. Good food, good atmosphere, nice people. Their pasta sheets are thin and delicate, very nicely done. The only reason for the review being mid-range is the use of canned mushrooms and the less-complex flavors developed in their sauces than I have found elsewhere.
