    Ceviche La Mazatleca

Our second port of call on our 7 days cruise to Mexico was Mazatlan. Instead of opting for a shore excursion, we decided to do our own thing. However, we wouldn't have found La Mazatleca if it wasn't for our cab driver literally taking us for a ride. We actually wanted to go to the Golden Zone to do some shopping. He ended up taking us well beyond that area. Needless to say, we were a little upset. However, as we were cruising along in our Pulmonia, I noticed La Mazatleca. To be honest, you can't miss it. It is the nicest looking beach front restaurant in the area and once our cab driver dropped us off, we ditched the restaurant he suggested we go to and checked out yelp and that is how we officially found La Mazatleca. When we arrived at La Mazatleca, we were seated on the beach. Aside from the great view, the first thing you'll notice is how modern the decor is and comfortable the restaurant is. You'll also notice that there aren't a lot of tourists around To start things off, we had a Margarita. Ok, we ended up having two, but you just can't help yourself with the view. The Mrs. had the La Mazatleca Ceviche. It was good and piled high with shrimp and octopus. I ended up having the swordfish medallions with rice an veggies. The fish was seasoned perfectly. Also, the portions weren't huge so we left feeling full and had room for more Margaritas. Our daughter ended up having a cheeseburger and we ended things with chocolate cake. If you are ever in Mazatlan and find that you cab driver had taken you well beyond the Golden Zone, never fear because all is not lost. Just find your way to La Mazatleca and enjoy. Also, ask for Johnny as your server.

Whoever marked this restaurant as "has many vegetarian options clearly never ate here: There are zero vegetarian options on the menu - but on request I was only able to order fettuccine Alfredo minus shrimp plus asparagus. The seafood options looked good though and the pasta was well done. the patio is also very nice.

The food was amazing... the sunset salmon was explosion in your mouth and the oysters was sooo fresh and not sandy at all... the tocos made me want to dance with joy and the grill shrimp was to stay for ... I recommend 100%

Food was good... micheladas were delicious!!! On the other hand service sucked! We asked for an outdoor table and we were told there weren't any available when there was clearly empty ones... we felt like if they pick and choose who they want to give outside seating.... outside view is beautiful.... after we asked about 2 times we were finally seated outside, but waiter seemed bothered and with an attitude.... we will not be coming back to this restaurant again....

Visiting Mazatlan found this seaside restaurant. Service and food is amazing. Great atmosphere and diverse menu. Ask for Chuay he'll take great care of you.

Wowee! So amazing and good! We started w a crab, octopus, ahi, and scallop tostada, I had ahi tartare which was a generous amount served w 3 toppings on the side, the hubby got the ahi streak which was perfectly cooked and served on a bed of fresh creamed corn w veggies. Sounds weird but, it was delicious! The sauce on top of this tender amazing fish complimented the ahi in the most delicious way! We weren't too thrilled by our dessert which was pineapple coconut cake... too sweet. Also, the Chardonnay was nice, merlot rather mediocre, Casadores margaritas were good! We had all this, 5 drinks, two appetizer's, an entree and this delicious home made dinner rolls for just $51 US! Oh, and it's located in the golden zone on the beach!!! Why are you still reading.... go eat there!!

Gorgeous restaurant! The ceviche was delicious, they made a cocktail with tequila, papaya and agua mineral and it was soooo tasty! Tacos and bacon wrapped shrimp was also very good. We had a quick lunch here after arriving on our first day and I hope you stop in here for a drink and food on the beach patio!

Asked my girlfriend to become my wife here thank you!

Came here with a very large party for dinner. They have great service and every one is very friendly we ate outside so we could see the beach and listen to the waves as we ate. The food was priced well and it was such a nice experience, everyone had a great time and we were attended to quickly. The server even offered to take pictures for us since I proposed to my fiancé there. ...so my review might be alittle biased since I proposed on the beach there haha

It was probably one of the best meals I've had in me entire life - and I'm a foodie! We had lobster thermador, a grilled fish sampler platte, and cerviche at a table right by the beach and as the sun was setting. All this for $60 - $75 with tip. Do not be fooled by the all inclusive - leave the hotel and go here for the best seafood in Matzatlan!

Our Sunwing rep at the hotel (The Riu) recommended this restaurant to us…read more Others we had met by the pool were heading to Senor Frogs for dinner and drinks, but we opted for a more authentic Mexican dinner and met up later for drinks. Which we later found out was a VERY good idea. Their meal was very over priced and apparently just pretty mediocre pub fare. Alagua is just around the block from Senor Frogs so it made for an easy evening to just walk over there after dinner without having to worry about a cab ride. We walked down the gravel path to an empty, but gorgeously set up open air dining room. We were greeted by many friendly staff eager to serve us and the most delicious smelling food. We were there in January 2014, which seemed to be quite a slow time for the entire city, so we were the only people in the restaurant for the majority of the evening. We asked for a menu but our friendly waiter asked if we might be interested in checking out the buffet. We did and it looked tasty, so we opted for that option. I can't remember the exact cost but I do remember it was about $13-15 each for the buffet and all the beer you could drink. The food was AMAZING. We sampled a little bit of everything and there was a chef waiting at the end of the line to cook up a custom mix of pasta and seafood and sauces. We asked him to make up whatever he'd like for us, and it was UNREAL. This was some of the best food we've eaten on vacation in Mexico and I fully plan to go back. The unlimited beer and our waters never went a moment unfilled (perhaps with more patrons this wouldn't be the case, but since we were the only ones we felt like absolute royalty). They also had a bowl of limes the ensured was filled, which was a nice touch for both the meals and our beers. The sun was down, so we couldn't see much of the beach ahead - but sitting by the edge of the dining room with the ocean waves and the wind made for a very romantic and enjoyable evening. I almost didn't want to leave! One other couple came while we were there and looked to be enjoying their meal and experience as well. It was mid week and must have been a very slow night, as after we left they started packing up and closing the restaurant. I really enjoyed all of Mazatlan, but I have to say this was one of my favourite parts. If you are looking for a great meal and overall experience at a very reasonable price I highly recommend Alagua! Thank you Alagua for a wonderful evening during our vacation!
