Another great newer restaurant in Mazatlan located on the North side of Zona Dorado on the West side of Camaron Saballo. With bright string lights in front and around the parking lot along with the big lit sign you can't miss this restaurant which is set back from the street. They have a large protected area in back which is open and righ along the beach. The service here is good and the waiter does speak enough English although you don't need it because the menu is all in English. The salsa served to start with the traditional large round packaged tortillas was very good. Not spicy but tons of flavor along with a side of pico de gallo of fresh tomato, onion and cilantro. I started my drink order with a Tamarindo Margarita which was better than El Presido which used to be my favorite but that time has passed. For starters I ordered the fish soup which is fantastic. This soup is a clear broth based soup (although they have shrimp bisque if you want a cream based soup) with TONS of fish, including shrimp, clam (fresh large clam in shell), octopus, squid and some white fish which is probably Dorado. The soup had enough seasoning to be extremely tasty and the bowl is very large. If you want to eat light, you could order this and some tortillas and you'd have a nice meal. I then ordered the La Mazatleca Tuna which was served on a bed of mash corn. For those who have eaten at Chevy's, thing of the corn mash they serve you except this one isn't loaded with sugar but fresh mash that can only be tasted down here,. it was fantastic and I like this now better than mashed potatoes. The corn is roasted, then mashed into a thick consistency with pieces of corn throughout. Delicious. The tuna was cooked perfect with a nice sear on the outside and nice rare consistency from edge to edge. Topped with a spicy mayo sauce on top of the nice large piece (probably 5 inch in diameter and 2 inches thick) my tummy was very happy. Overall this is a place to not miss. They do have a lot of unique dishes like the Shrimp Enchiladas with Mole sauce which I am going to get on my next visit. So happy our cab driver suggested this place. Perfect day on a beautiful beach with amazing seafood and wonderful service. Nice escape from the ship. Great spot if you want to relax and have a beer or margarita. The mariachi band was great and if you have cash, they will play as long as you want. Our server even jumped in sang one. Our second port of call on our 7 days cruise to Mexico was Mazatlan. Instead of opting for a shore excursion, we decided to do our own thing. However, we wouldn't have found La Mazatleca if it wasn't for our cab driver literally taking us for a ride. We actually wanted to go to the Golden Zone to do some shopping. He ended up taking us well beyond that area. Needless to say, we were a little upset. However, as we were cruising along in our Pulmonia, I noticed La Mazatleca. To be honest, you can't miss it. It is the nicest looking beach front restaurant in the area and once our cab driver dropped us off, we ditched the restaurant he suggested we go to and checked out yelp and that is how we officially found La Mazatleca. When we arrived at La Mazatleca, we were seated on the beach. Aside from the great view, the first thing you'll notice is how modern the decor is and comfortable the restaurant is. You'll also notice that there aren't a lot of tourists around To start things off, we had a Margarita. Ok, we ended up having two, but you just can't help yourself with the view. The Mrs. had the La Mazatleca Ceviche. It was good and piled high with shrimp and octopus. I ended up having the swordfish medallions with rice an veggies. The fish was seasoned perfectly. Also, the portions weren't huge so we left feeling full and had room for more Margaritas. Our daughter ended up having a cheeseburger and we ended things with chocolate cake. If you are ever in Mazatlan and find that you cab driver had taken you well beyond the Golden Zone, never fear because all is not lost. Just find your way to La Mazatleca and enjoy. Wowee! So amazing and good! We started w a crab, octopus, ahi, and scallop tostada, I had ahi tartare which was a generous amount served w 3 toppings on the side, the hubby got the ahi streak which was perfectly cooked and served on a bed of fresh creamed corn w veggies. Sounds weird but, it was delicious! The sauce on top of this tender amazing fish complimented the ahi in the most delicious way! We weren't too thrilled by our dessert which was pineapple coconut cake... too sweet. Also, the Chardonnay was nice, merlot rather mediocre, Casadores margaritas were good! We had all this, 5 drinks, two appetizer's, an entree and this delicious home made dinner rolls for just $51 US! Oh, and it's located in the golden zone on the beach!!! Not terrible, not great. We didn't hate our meal, but iwould not eat here again. The sunset view was beautiful on hour outside table.

The food is really really good. Everytime I come to mazatlan we always eat here at least once. The freshest seafood and everything is well seasoned. The reason why I'm not giving it a 5 star is because of the service. Gorgeous restaurant! The ceviche was delicious, they made a cocktail with tequila, papaya and agua mineral and it was soooo tasty! Tacos and bacon wrapped shrimp was also very good. Came here with a very large party for dinner. They have great service and every one is very friendly we ate outside so we could see the beach and listen to the waves as we ate. Stayed at a hotel close by and I usually go eat at a place by downtown, glad I didn't go and ate here at La Mazatleca!! Excellent seafood and a great waitstaff. I had the tuna burger wedges between a portobello mushroom. Was absolutely delicious. The margarita was so-so. The flan at the end was covered in a thick caramel sauce with lots of nuts on top. Was a little too dense for my liking. I like a lighter flan with the thin sauce better. I visit here once a month travelling thru mexico and always order their shrimp bisque and "seafood reef" a tempura'd tuna & shrimp (octopus is also included in that offer but i decline it) dish, a lot of food for 250MP. covid safety measures are in place, beach front dining or indoors, usually soccer matches on their big screen tv's. very nice mojitos, menu in english, nice servers, clean facility. highly recommended, nice sized parking lot, located in the dorado zone. read more

We walked by this pace and the parking lot was PACKED. We had already eaten, but we knew we wanted to eat there the next day. We came back the next day, and it was incredibly slow. Lol. But that didn't stop them from treating us with the upmost respect and great service. Our server was incredibly friendly. He was happy to help and offer insight on food recommendations. The server and his staff continuously checked in on us to make sure we were happy. Food was delicious. The wait was not too long. Pricing is competitive for the area....however, I guess the owner has his own exchange rate and does not offer the same competitive rate as the rest of the area. Heads up. But, whatever....food was still delicious. The place is clean. And also has amazing views of the beach and you can even be seated outside as well. They offer desert....and not typical "so so" desert. Their desert was pretty damn good. The best I had had in all of Matzalan....we all know, desert is not Mexicos fortay. Lol. However, the server did do a pretty good presentation of their Mexican coffee. If you haven't seen the presentation of Mexican coffee anywhere, you are in for a treat. And it was also good. We enjoyed this beautiful restaurant for dinner. There were six of us: my husband and I, our two daughters (8 and 12) and my parents. We started with three ceviches. We ordered the shrimp and octopus, crab and the ahi ceviches. The ahi ceviche was hands down our favorite! I wish we would have ordered three of them! The other two were good. It not outstanding. Our daughters split the salmon plate, and they said it was their favorite meal of the trip so far! My mom and I split the enchiladas on the fusion part of the menu. It was good but a bit over-sauced for my taste. My dad said the same for his sashimi. My husband ordered the chicharrones. He was not a fan of how the meat was prepared. I had two glasses of their Sauvignon Blanc and they were very good. My husband enjoyed two mezcals. The views and service were top notch. Came here with a group of seven. We had no idea what to expect as my friends had just arrived in town and were staying next door. Everyone was getting drunk and starving so we wandered in to the closest place which was La Mazatleca. It has an old Mazatlán feel to it. Situated beautifully on the beach with very large communal tables. The bar must be one of the more extensive in Mazatlán. The waiters are older and have been honing their craft for a long time. Everyone speaks English as far as I could tell . Now what we didn't know was the central theme appears to be Mexican fusion centered around seafood and 5 of my fellow diners are not seafood fans. No problem . They had a burger on the menu . And what a burger. A monster 1/3 fresh handmade patty with everything you'd want on it. A friend had the Shrimp Burger which was a patty formed from shrimp. I had the chefs salad with shrimp. Everyone was thrilled with the food, service and view. The prices are a little higher than average maz prices but still very reasonable for what you get. They gave my daughter a pina colada cake because she mentioned it was her birthday 2 days a go! read more
