Sometime back a coworker of mine highly recommended I try out Villa Marina. I lead a monthly dining out event each month in Baja California so I thought why not give 'em a shot. This review reflects my dining experience in August 2018. Villa Marina is conveniently located in the neighborhood of Zona Rio. If you are coming from the US you can take an Uber and be there in around ten minutes. The menu is more vast than I had predicted. For example, it ranges from sushi to tacos and to other traditional Baja seafood dishes. The prices were on par for what you would pay a at a "nice restaurant," but I had no interest in paying $6 for a margarita. The service was very attentive and I was pleased that they offered to split checks right away. I hated agreeing to this but we had more than twenty people and they were in no way busy at this time. The food I ordered was great and the others I was with complimented theirs as well. I ordered a Gobernador taco, Marlin taco and Shrimp taco and I would definitely order them again. Each table is served chips and a dish of two salsas and onions. The green salsa was definitely my favorite. If you are in Tijuana and want to try some great seafood stop by Villa Marina. Upon arrival they have valet parking which is nice. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We had Antonio as our server he was great and attentive. The food was delicious. The aguachiles verdes are fire. I had a sushi roll which was fresh and tasty and my fiancé ordered a sampler platter. The tamarindo shrimp he got were the best out of all the shrimp sampler. read more

This place is 2.5 stars only gave it three because the service was good but the food wasn't our cup of tea (so-so). The decor is nice the staff are really nice. It comes down to the food. There are other places in TJ we'll be trying before we come back here. read more

So good!! Actually the best fish fillet I've ever had. I ordered the fillet brasa and we shared the aqua Chile trio, the black sauce was okay but the red and green were great. My guy ordered the shrimp diablo and it was okay not spicy as he had wanted and expected it was on the sweet side. Service was stellar. Ooh and the aqua of pepino and mint was exceptional not overly sweet just refreshing. We will come back to eat every time we are in town. Eat here now if you haven't yet. read more

Service was the best thing, this place was disgusting. It was way overpriced and not worth it. The best thing was the michelada cart. The tacos were bland, the aguachile was bland and tasted like soy sauce, & they had a salsa that tasted like canned tomato sauce. The shrimp plate was disgusting and it looked liked you got the small frozen shrimp from the store. If you've been to Karinas in San Diego, it's the equivalent or worse. Horacio was a Fabulous server. Thank you for the excellent. I highly recommend this place and server. 2nd review I've eaten here at least 8 times. Always a delight and food is delicious. Clean and climate control is comfortable. Has own parking lot with parking attendant. I like that they bring chips and tostadas with a variety of salsas, they have a dessert and margarita cart. Let's start that Food is not that great for the price. I ordered a ceviche and had more cucumber and onion than sea food. I don't know how they have so many reviews, maybe they were good in the past but I can guarantee you can find better spots with prices that are worth paying. Their tostadas are not good either, lack of flavor. And don't even look at the sushi, not their specialty, don't build up your expectations if you want to try. I believe there are better places for sea food, these prices are not worth it. Let me finish saying I was watching a soccer game I wanted to watch (great timing I guess) I had not finish my beer and they decided to change the channel. Love this place. Has plenty of seating available and your always seated quickly. They have a huge variety of seafood to choose from. Went with a large group and everybody loved their plate. Everything from the service, drinks, food and deserts was excellent. read more

I've been to many seafood restaurants in TJ but this by far is the best one. The wait staff are so attentive you will never need anything. The menu is so expansive the only problem you will have is trying to figure out what you want to eat. I liked this restaurant so much I went back the next day so I could try something else. read more

Warning to Travelers who don't speak the language or look like the locals. I would give them a negative on this if i could. But lowest is 1. We went to this spot in TJ , we always make it a habit to enjoy our food when we go. Its disheartened being targeted base on my appearance and lack of the Spanish Language. IF you do decide to eat here at Villa Marina, Double check your bill. We had 2 different waiters check our bill and they both said 386. So we called the Manager Cesar. He came back later apologizing later. Our bill was altered to make it look higher than it supposed to be. $306 + tip . made to $386 + tip. we had no problem paying the correct price and plus leave a good tip, because the service was great up until they try to pull a fast one on us. So Travelers be warn if you do decide to eat here. I don't see us returning to this spot in the future . read more

Once my friends and I crossed the border, we took a taxi to this restaurant. This might be the best seafood restaurant in Tijuana. We had ceviche, tacos, and raw seafood including octopus, shrimp, scallop, and oyster. Waiters would come by to check up on us, and a bartender ( "doctor") would come by to make us clamato with seafood inside! Yum. I've been on a seafood diet lately; when I see it, I eat it! Went to TJ for a birthday trip with 4 other friends and we were all craving seafood when we found this place while driving through Zona Rio! It looked like a great place to have dinner at so we thought we might as well go big or go home and that's just about what we did! This is a really nice and clean restaurant and customer service is top notch! First they bring out a bunch of these Doritos-like chips and tostadas with different types of salsas while you look over the menu. To start, we ordered this Bloody Mary type cocktail with some clams in it and tamarindo Mexican candy straw on top. I don't usually like tomato juices in my drink but this one wasn't too bad and who can go wrong with Mexican candy! For our cold entrees we decided to order 2 dozen of oysters, fish and shrimp ceviche, trio of aguachilies, scallops, sea snails, shrimp, shrimp cocktail, ahi tuna tar tar and some spicy habanero salsa with avocado. The traditional red and green aguachile was delicious but the negra(black) one was absolutely amazing! It had a distinguished flavor to it like some adobo or soy sauce I'm not too sure but definitely good. Ugh, and the ahi tuna tar tar! Best I've even freaken had!! The sauce they had in it was so good and the ahi tuna was so fresh! We ate all of it. I also really liked the habanero salsa! We asked for some habanero sauce and thought it would come out like hot sauce but they bought an actual "fresh salsa". It had onions, avocados, and habanero. It was so good but so spicy. I never sweat when I eat spice but this was extreme!! We were all paying for it the next day but it was well worth it lol For the hot entrees we ordered bacon wrapped shrimp, sautéed shrimp, fried tuna with peppers, grilled fish, grilled octopus, and seafood fried rice. The grilled octopus was definitely my favorite! I usually prefer squid as some places tend to over cook octopus which leaves it chewy but nope! Not here! It was so tenderoni and had a nice off the grill flavor to it. We had so much food I swear it was like what you would expect at a wedding. More food kept coming out but we had to just ask them to pack it to go for us. I ended up reheating most of it the next day and it was still freaken bomb! Since we told them it was my friends birthday they had a special treat for us at the grand finale of our meal. No kidding, they literally bought out a mini speaker and started blasting birthday music in Spanish and put these hilarious funny hats on us; I had a turkey hat!!! Then, a guy holding a sign with their restaurant name "Villa Marina" goes behind us like a back drop and they take a pic of you while bringing out a cup cake with a candle! HAHHA! It was so funny and awesome I loved it! We even bought a song for the bday boy from these mariachi guys. Yup, doesn't get any better then that! This place may be a bit pricey but definitely not as much as you would expect to pay in the states! If you ever find your self in TJ definitely stop by and give this place a try! read more

Well what can i say, took for ever to get our meals. 45 min wait for the 7 mares soup and it was cold, my brother ate alo e pretty much. the shirmp cocktails tasted like clamato. The sushi was good though. Service was mediocre , begging for tostadas and got stale ones. It was a monday and it wasnt full at all but the wait for the meals was crazy. read more

Amazing mexican seafood that differentiates from other seafood restaurants in town. They are very good with raw seafood: the tuna tartare, the oysters and the tostadas with scallops and shrimp. The aguachile is amazing and also really liked their sweet and sour grilled octopus. Loved all their desserts and drinks. Will be back! read more

Worst ceviche I have ever had, it is just a pile of raw shrimp. There is no line no spices a couple pieces of cucumber and avocado but that's it. ZERO FLAVOR! but I did get a very good michelada so that is why they got two stars from me. read more

Excellent food and service. The stuffed fish filet and sauce was delicious. The two octopus dishes were cooked to perfection. The various salsas were very tasty and diverse in flavor. Service from all the staff was courteous, attentive and friendly. Ok, now the bad news, the bar! If a Mexican restaurant can't make a descent Margarita, they have a problem. The margarita was very sour. It lacked balance. Had to return it. The second was a bit better. When a restaurant of this class makes margaritas where the rim of the glass has regular table salt, they have a problem.
