Absolutely Fabulous!!! no time for a true valentines dinner since our day's are packed with our kids activities...but this past Saturday...we were able to escape for half a day and this was our destination. Crossed the border and headed to La Cayetana for late lunch/early dinner. We had reservations and the place wasn't busy when we arrived. We were immediately seated and had a fabulous server Cesar. His English was minimal but more than enough for us to communicate effectively. We ordered one course at a time and shared everything. We ate soooooo much...yet didn't feel icky stuffed...which I believe means quality food! Drink #1 - Margarita Cayetana. one of the best marg's i've ever had! Appetizer #1- "sashimi" yum yum! fish could have been a bit more tender (didn't easily cut with a fork) but the flavor was delicious. it had amazing olives and slices jalapenos. OMG yum! Appetizer #2 - bone marrow that Cesar prepared in tacos. 100% this was the #1 part of the meal. I can't wait to go back and have this as my entree...and i'm not going to share it! Drink #2 - Playas de Tijuana. I thought this was going to be a margarita...but it was so much more! True art (see pic). it was more of a tequila martini in a fish bowl scene. so amazing!! Part 3 beet salad. this salad was my other favorite part of the meal (when i come back my meal will be bone marrow and beet salad) the cheese was so creamy..the beets had so much flavor. Only thing i would do differently is ask for less dressing (it was probably perfect amount for most people) the dressing was divine though! Cesar was kind enough to split the salad onto 2 plates for us and it was was the perfect amount for 2 people. Entree #1 Rib eye..cooked medium (that's was Cesar suggested) it came perfect. I'm fascinated how ribeyes are such a thin cut every time i order in Baja...i think i actually like it more this way. the potatoes that came with the ribeye were flavorful and had a perfect texture. Entree #2 (actually from appetizer menu but they were out of the garlic shrimp) Catetana skillet - pork/shirmp/mushroom ...also prepared as tacos! so damn good! we even did dessert!!! Pros: The steak was as big as my face. The amount of meat was a lot! Bring your appetite. Service is excellent. I am always worried when eating out here because my spanish is bad but they have an English speaker there. Cons: The steak I usually eat has a crust from the sear and other stuff. This didn't have it. The marbling wasn't super even like a wagyu. When you are biting into it, sometimes you get large amounts of fat and sometimes none at all. Let me start with, it was good but it didn't woah me. We ordered a variety of different plates; fettuccine with chicken and shrimp, and a variety of different steak plates. They were all good but it just needed something. The drink was authentic to Mexico so I for sure recommend you to try a beer or a cocktail. Every once in a while, the employees seemed that they were a little all over the place. There seemed to be a miscommunication on several occasions. The menu changed drastically since my first visit which was 9 month previously. The medallones are something I always order. This time it didn't come with the purée de papa (garlic mashed potatoes) so it was a little disappointing. Small plates but everything was delicious. The waitress was kind of busy and forgot to bring the breads with spread in the beginning but we could see she was busy so it was okay. Wish they wouldn't of changed the menu. We have been to La Cayetana twice now and both times we had such an amazing time with the excellent drinks and food that we neglected to take any pictures to post. The location is in Plaza Chapultepec which has a paid secure parking garage. You walk in and find a bustling restaurant that is trendy and with plenty of wait staff to serve your needs. It can get a bit loud when full but that is part of the experience We have enjoyed everything we ordered in our two visits (both drinks and dinners) and are looking forward to trying more in our future visits. We will also try to remember to take some pictures on our next visit. Our favorite dinner dish thus far was the Pollo Rostizado which is a half boneless chicken cooked in a white wine sauce served with Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The chicken is SO moist and marinated beautifully. With the brussels and melt in your mouth potatoes this dish was a game changer and was a repeat dish on our second visit. One of the best risottos I have ever tried. They ordered the pear salad which was phenomenal I tried it and it was really good. The tomatoe soup which was very tasty. Tuéstanos! That's when the issue happened! Mom was gone she was in the bathroom those who love tuétanos know they love to it from the bone and make your self your own tacos with it! Well the server or whoever ran the food decided to take our all the meat from the bones without even asking! We complained because my mom wanted to eat it from the bones! And the person lied saying he did ask when he didn't! Anyways mom got new ones! And they were delicious. My sister ordered a salmon with pasta and she didn't really like the pasta but I did! This place is awesome. You get basically 3 waiters for your table so your drink is never empty and there are never any empty plates in front of you. Service is great and the food is even better. This place is beautiful inside and out. We sat outside and I love the fact it has a patio covering. We ordered a shrimp appetizer with avocado and some type of sauce. Stopped in to have a quick appetizer and have the cocktail I had on my first visit (Whiskey a la parrilla). Like my first visit, our server was Manuel. Manuel offers a level of service that is rare and very much appreciated. We also had interactions with Enrique (Bartender), who is a top notch bartender who was very personable and made amazing cocktails. I came here last night with a party of 7 to celebrate my daughter's birthday. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Tijuana. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding. We were treated very well and everyone was so pleasant and friendly. I recommend the miso shrimp, Angus steak (so smoky and flavourful), Cesar salad, and the shrimp fettuccine. This is my 3rd time to Cayetana. And I think they've finally got it right! My best meal here so far, so I will definitely be back. The look and ambiance of the place is upscale and classy. The food has always been visually enticing and a delight to the senses. But on my first trip the seafood linguini/pasta was very salty, though smelled delicious. My second trip, was a little better but the food was off still. Both trips were in their first 3 months since opening. My 3rd trip is maybe 18months since opening and I hoping they can finally deliver a consistently delicious meal! The angus steak with mushrooms (I ordered extra mushrooms) was very tasty. And the octopus (pulpo) ceviche was really delicious! I might have given 5 stars on my review but the price is the only negative, a tad high for Tijuana since portions are a bit small. Definitely a good meal, though the bill for 2 dishes (pulpo was technically an appetizer), the extra mushrooms, a lemonade and a bottle or water came out to 580 pesos ($33). I gave 700 pesos and the waiter did not return with the change (he must've assumed it was the tip, but a little unexpected). All things consider for the ambiance, a very clean environment and if you're having a business meeting or a date, an excellent environment. A good restaurant, but I hesitant to call it a great restaurant. Based solely on my last trip, I would rate 4.25 but I can't give partial stars read more

I think it's your average restaurant... definitely not my favorite we ordered a salmon, steak, and crepes.
