Breakfast or dinner, if you are in Tijuana you have to try this place. During breakfast: cafe de la olla with a side of Mexican bread/conchas, the chilaquiles, any variety... they were ALL flavorful. For dinner: the lobster bisque OMG! best I have ever tasted. Of course we had other dishes which I can't even remember them all, just rest assured they were all delicious. The service, in Mexican fashion is impeccable. Definitely a must stop on our visits to Tijuana :) TIP: check their hours before you go so you know exactly what time breakfast ends and dinner starts.
We had breakfast and we're impressed by the great service. The restaurant has free parking. We loved our meals and the fresh juices. The menu has a lot to choose from and a guy man walks around offering sweet bread just as your coffee arrives. We were provided with a complimentary light fruit appetizer. We plan to return for dinner.
Marenca is a fine establishment. The service is attentive and friendly, and the interior is clean and well put together. I got a Pink Mole Salmon for my entree. I will say that the salmon was a bit dry and for the price I think I could have gotten something better. For my drink, I got a strawberry margarita and that was amazing (pretty strong too!). The servers speak english here so don't worry about a language barrier if you're a tourist like me. Overall nice establishment!
Came here because we vouched to try new spots & open our palates a bit more. Rather than to stick to the same places we always go to. This place I could say is pretty upscale & intimate. The street it is located on is very busy. On the bright side, they do have their own private parking lot. Free of charge. When you walk in the venue is nice, clean, & classy. A bit small but we weren't waiting to be seated for long. We got seated after about 5mins. They have a little rack to put your purse/jackets on which I appreciate. Prices were reasonable of course. We paid around $45 + tip for a family of 3. FOOD - I got the machaca d res omelette that came with a tamal of maza & tortilla chips. We ordered scrambled eggs & frijoles for my son. My husband got the huevos d la casa that came with carne, frijoles, & black tortillas. We also got a kids drink & a soda. In which they provided a cup of ice with it. They also gave us a little flight of salsas that were pretty good. I liked my omelette. My husband's carne was a bit salty for my liking. The tamal on my dish was pretty good. Would've been better if there was meat in it. My husband liked the frijoles. Both brown & black were tasty & flavorful. SERVICE - We did NOT like our waiter whatsoever. He spoke to us so degradingly. You just work here, you don't even own the restaurant. Calm down boy. Lol. He was the one with tattoos on his arms. Acted super stuck up & like he was better than everyone. Including his coworkers. We witnessed him clapping his hands loudly because a waiter was in his way & he was trying to get her to move. He was talking crap to another guy/girl waiter. & we also saw him playfully slap his girl coworker on the face. No way to be acting like that in a professional setting. I don't feel he meant it playfully by his tone & actions prior to smacking her. But obviously he's someone for everyone to be listening to him & the way he was acting. Definite power trip. Doubt he was a manager neither. Seemed like a floor lead or something. He was snobby. Asked for ketchup & he didn't even acknowledge our request. Had someone else bring it to the table for us. Would've appreciated an, "Ok. I/we got you. I'll bring it." Nothing. Literally when asking him he looked away without responding. Food was good but wasn't the best we've had. Along with our waiters attitude. Bringing this place down to 3/5 stars. Probably would not go back nor recommend. But also didn't give them a lower rating because the food was good. But like I said, not the best. Especially with a worker with such a shitty attitude. Lol. You choose to work here. No one forced you. Their menu is pretty unique with a lot of ingredients not used at your typical restaurant. They also renamed a lot of things to make it sound fancier than what it really is.
We visited this place twice during our three week stay in Tijuana. The food was hit or miss, meats lacked flavor and drinks were mostly sugar and little alcohol. The chocolate desert was good on the first bite but subsequent bite had a very tough texture, may have been old?. Service was good the first time but pretty poor the second time. Its a good place to go once if youre in tijuana for a while.
Came with friends on a day trip to Tijuana! We arrived around 2pm and there was only one other group there, so service was quick. FOOD: I got the octopus (pulpo) tacos and the bone marrow tacos. The bone marrow was my favorite, so flavorful and juicy. The octopus was tender, and I loved the dual color tortillas. Great plating/presentation as well. I would recommend these two tacos over other menu items, my friend got salmon mole and I didn't like it as much as my order. Servers were friendly and attentive, the restaurant itself was beautifully decorated.
This place was recommended by a good friend of mine and will say it was a good one. We started with a Tuna ceviche appetizer that was delicious. For main the main course my wife opted for the Shrimp sauté with garlic on a bed of risotto and I chose the Salmon with pink Mole. They were both unique in the way they were cooked and presented. I've always had mole paired with poultry meat but never with fish and decided to give a try. The salmon was slightly overcooked but flavorful. My wife was delighted with her plate. With its low noise level and great service I can attest that this restaurant provides a great dining experience.
If you are looking for a different type of place for breakfast in Tijuana, you will discover the name, Marenca. The Zona Rio location has a small dining area, that is very popular with both the locals and visitors. It is easy to see why. Their menu does not over dose on the standard morning and afternoon items that you would find anyplace. However, this is the first restaurant I've been to in Tijuana, that does not have an English menu.... so I had to labor through the Spanish menu. But, they do have unique dishes, thus making the visit adventurous, because it is difficult to choose. I went back and forth, and finally settled for their 3-egg omelet with asparagus and sheep cheese. It came with refried beans, strings of carrots and beets, small fired up tostadas and fresh tortillas (both blue and yellow corn). A small side of soggy chilaquiles was also served. A small flavorful salsa tray is also provided with 3 options, ranging from mild to hot. The asparagus spears were thin, cut up into small pieces and sautéed with mild spices. The outer egg covering soft and not overdone. If anything, there was too much sheep cheese, in certain portions of the omelet. I say this because it was an asparagus omelet, and it, instead of the cheese, should have been the star. Still, it did not take away from the other commendable aspects of the complete entree and its accompaniments. Before the meal, a small refreshing fruit plate is served. Coffee and overall service here, was mucho excellente. read more

Favorites place in Tijuana !!!!!! I absolutely loved my food. You can really taste all the freshness in every dish. I love the attention to detail. I really hope that they bring back their full menu. Service is always amazing shadow to all the amazing employees. You guys truly make the experience of going to this restaurant, what it is. Ambience is what you can imagine. Very calm and great place to have lunch or dinner or even breakfast. read more

I've visited Marenca several times throughout the years. They're located in the busy area of Zona Rio. They have their own designated parking, which is nice, as sometimes parking may be an issue in town. The parking attendant welcomes you and lets you know where to park. You are immediately greeted when you walk in. I typically visit for a late lunch. The restaurant has a cozy feel. The staff are attentive and friendly. The presentation of the food is nice and it tastes good. Some of the dishes that I have tried are: Tarahumara (portobello omelet), Xitomatl (entomatadas), Huichol (chilaquiles con cecina), Mulli (mole Oaxaqueño), Teotihuacán (chilaquiles con chorizo y huevo), and Coyoltzin (puntas de filete). My favorite has been the Coyoltzin because the meat is tender and juicy. I also love that they bring salsas to the table. I like the chiles with oil and vinegar that they make. Overall, a great place to have breakfast or lunch with friends and family. read more

I love this place. I got the combo chilaquiles and I loved it I would get the same thing again. The servers were also so nice. This is an amazing brunch spot. 10/10 recommend!!! I will come back next time I am in Tijuana. read more

Food was amazing, Ambiance was nice and service was Great! This place has been on my list for awhile and I'm glad I finally made it. Prices are very reasonable. We could have split the meal. CONCLUSION: Put Marenca on your list, you will be glad you did! read more

Nice cozy busy restaurant with good service, delicious foods. Came with friends for the weekend brunch, friends to enjoy a getaway with friends. Ambiance was nice casual restaurant good for families, friends dining. The mole chillaquiles was good, slightly sweet and spicy mole. read more

Tortillas were crispy but not burnt, eggs were runny enough to smolder the tortillas but not too runny where they made a mess. The mole was a level 3 spicy with a tease of sweetness that makes you want to take a sample home. The café de olla was a reminder of the one we had in Rosarito. Overall I will be returning read more

Great place to have breakfast with a loved one or another couple. Pros- Service- was great, quick, on the ball with everything . The food comes out hot and fresh. Food- other than the strange names to them, the food was fantastic . I had the chilaquiles with chorizo . Ambiance- this place is modern, workers wear uniforms. The restrooms are clean, this place cares enough to have clean nice smelling restrooms than you know they care about their food. read more

My new favorite place in Tijuana. The service and experience was incredible 11/10. The food was amazing, they start by giving you a small concha and little fruit salad. I love it here. If you're looking for a breakfast place that hits comfort and taste, it's Marenca. One thing that I have to absolutely touch on is their incredibly superior customer service. They simply do not miss. Upon arrival, they greet you at your table with fresh coffee or cafe de olla, and a basket of pastries and breads for you to choose from while you wait for your meal. The quesadilla de chicharrón prensado IS AMAZING! Please try it, you will not regret it. This is a smaller establishment, but still spacious with the way everything is laid out. The restrooms are always clean and smell lovely. They have their own parking lot as well making is convenient to stop by for a great bite and friendly service. read more

*PREPARE TO BE UPCHARGED IF YOU ARE A TOURIST* I didn't give give a fully negative review because service was nice and you can tell it is a clean and upscale facility in this area. However, I will say food was decent, nothing spectacular. I did like the quesadillas though. That was probably the best tasting meal for me. The portions were on the smaller side and food was not as tasteful as expected, especially for the surcharge we paid. Wait was about 15 minutes for a party of 3 and our food came out fast. I would have given this place a 3.5 star review based solely on tastefood and service if it wasn't for our experience at the end. Our bill was $100 total for an appetizer, 3 coffees, and 3 plates. I felt this was excessive based on the prices I had seen on the menu. When we asked for an itemized receipt , we noticed they had included more than we ordered. For example, we had 2 small conchas and they charged for 5. That was what I initially noticed. Then I realized each item on our receipt had a higher price than the amount reflected on their menu in the restaurant. We asked them to cancel our current payment and charge us accurately. They only took off the 3 extra concha's they charged but not the surcharge on each plate. They said it's because of "Iva" but there was already a separate Iva additional charge on our receipt. Overall, food was decent but as others stated not worth the price. Pay attention to these reviews. Sadly, We had lunch here without checking reviews first. read more

Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Food: 10/10 Price: Reasonable Parking: Free and Open Location: 5 mins from the San Ysidro border Brunch daily until 2pm so delicious. Then Lunch and Dinner starts. Gets busy in the mornings even on a weekday. They speak Spanish and Menu is all in Spanish but they will definitely find you a translator. Very delicious meals and great service. This is my review after 3 visits. It's worth your money. read more
This place was AMAZING where do I start its in Central Tijuana they have there private parking and we got lucky we didnt wait they came around asked us for our drinks they came around with break nice and good to start off we gpt 2 quesadillas one of lengua other of chicharron they also bring you different salsas i gotta say they were delicious as our main entree came over omg so much food and omelette and cecina where 10/10 they also come with sides of beans and chilaquiles and total came out to 50ish dollars this place is delicious must try read more

The food was flavored well, with fresh and whole ingredients. I really enjoyed the chilaquiles were well flavored and the Costilla de res was flavored nicely and not over cooked, just right. Nice upscale ambiance great for a celebratory outing or date. Will visit again. Waiter service was great and cafe de la olla was spot on. read more
