Saverios is a beautiful restaurant with amazing menu selections of northern and southern Italian dishes. The wine list was also exciting as I recognized my favorite wineries on the wine list from my visits to Valle de Guadalupe. Our party of 7 celebrated my birthday. My husband and I shared the Roquefort salad. Delicious! I had the Tournedos Provençal. The steak was tender and delicious. My husband ordered the Frute de Mare with squid ink pasta. Highly recommend all of the dishes we ate. The restaurant becomes busy so make reservations. We wanted to dine privately in one of the rooms, especially in the Cava room. This place is very close to Angeles Hospital. You can walk everywhere, but make sure to call in advance to see if the restaurant is open. (Most of the restaurants we walked to had different hours of operation.) The food is delicious. VIlla Saverios is an absolutely beautiful restaurant, perfect for date nights or a nice dinner out with friends. There is plenty of room for large groups, but also lots of intimate tables for a more private dining experience. First and foremost, the service is impeccable. It's the perfect amount of attentiveness without being overbearing. The wine selection is pretty extensive, but the staff is knowledgeable and will help you out if you need it. The fooooooood... I'm drooling just thinking about it! I ordered the Short Rib and can honestly say it was one of the best dishes I'd had in a while. The meat was sooo tender and the sauce was to die for. I came to to celebrate a special someone's birthday. We were staying in Zona Rio in Tijuana, and after getting the recommendation from hotel staff, we decided on Villa Saverios. It was not a long drive to get here. The restaurant is off a small street, and there is tons of parking here. The lot extends from the front of the building, and snakes back to another lot at the side of the building. This adjacent lot does not have a concrete foundation, so be mindful of the shoes you wear. The lot is well-guarded, albeit lacking sufficient lighting. The lot at the front of the building does have a concrete foundation and has better lighting. The inside of the restaurant is elegant. The staff is well-dressed, polite, and attentive. The other patrons were well-heeled locals, as well as some tourists from the US (myself, included). We were sat at small table toward the center of the place. There were booths along the perimeter, as well as a smaller subsection which can host about two-dozen people. I started off with vegetable soup, which was warm and inviting. My second course was a tuna tartare, which had a nice and spicy taste to it. My main course was the filet mignon. This came with mushrooms, a side of mashed potatoes, and grilled veggies. We ordered a bottle of wine, and I also had a cappuccino after my meal. The wine was splendid, and the cappuccino gave me the energy to carry on with the rest of the evening's activities. Villa Saverios provided an excellent dining experience. Excellent Italian, Mediterranean, and Mexican restaurant owned by the Plasencia restaurant group, who also run some other great restaurants in Tijuana and Ensenada. Upon arrival, a valet will take your car at no extra charge. The restaurant is large with a main dining room and several side rooms (and a wine cellar) that can be reserved for more private gatherings. I believe the second floor is a large space for bigger events such as weddings. The decor is elegant and classy in a traditional Italian style. There is a piano in the dining room (sadly no one was playing it). From almost all tables you have a clear view into the open kitchen. The menu has quite a few options of traditional Mexican classics (tacos de fideo and tacos de canasta, for example) along with extensive seafood options and Italian offerings such as lasagna and various patas. They serve about five different duck dishes, which is rare and nice to see. We ordered the octopus carpaccio and oysters as appetizers, and both were extremely fresh and well seasoned with either chile sauce or a modified pico de gallo. For the main plates we ordered the beef tenderloin and lamb chamorro, which are newer additions to the menu per our server. Both were tender and juicy, and the risotto that accompanied the lamb was perfectly cooked. The guava tart with banana ice cream dessert is a nice portion and not overly sweet. Service was truly outstanding. I don't think we ever waited more than 10 minutes without someone checking in with us. In terms of COVID measures, all tables are very far apart (at least 15+ feet) and all servers wear both a face mask and a face shield. They also check your temperature upon arrival. Your silverware and napkins are brought out sealed inside a plastic wrapping. In sum, they're doing everything possible. I felt very safe and comfortable while dining. Finally, prices are on the higher end for a restaurant in Tijuana, but very reasonable for the quality of the service and the food. We ordered two appetizers, four drinks, two entrees, and dessert, and the total was $85 (including 20% tip). I'll definitely be back. read more

Awesome Italian restaurant, I spent like $132 and fed a table of 5 with drinks. The atmosphere is very nice, I love the dimly lit atmosphere. It's very romantic. My girlfriend recommended this place for a nice family dinner and I'm definitely going back. I had the chicken Alfredo which was pretty good, my girl had the lasagna. Not sure what My girls daughter had but her boyfriend had the roast beef which looked pretty good. I'd recommend having a reservation, but we got lucky and got seated quickly. I had a Stella, the girls had sangria which they said was good but personally I don't like sangria so I couldn't tell and her Daughter's boyfriend had a tamarind martini. Everyone was super satisfied. They also have people who sell bouquets of flowers and take photos just incase you want to give one to your sweetheart. They also have high chairs for the little ones. Felt safe eating dinner during Covid-19 pandemic. They take temperature at entrance, give you hand sanitizer, make you sanitize your shoes as you enter on a special mat. They have a selection of 4 Duck dishes. I asked the waiter for his recommendation and it was delicious. Both tender, a little fatty (but not too fatty), and flavorful. The Hongas (mushrooms) with a spicy flavor (not sure he name of the dish, also asked for the waiters recommendation), was superb. So delicious! I almost filled up on bread and mushrooms. I had to stop myself and put the remaining mushrooms on my duck (pato). Que sabroso Mi amiga had a brisket over bone marrow. Fall off the bone tender meat. Very tasty. Very full with no room for dessert My only complaint, service is a bit slow. But I understand it's cultural. Dining out is more of past time and meant to be relaxed and enjoying your company. Dinner was about 90 min on 3 courses. Also prices was a bit high for Tijuana. $60 for two, glass of wine for each of us. If I was in the US it would be definitely worth it. If you ever needed a reason to go to Tijuana, this restaurant is absolutely the reason by. So, if I'm raving about this place why only 4 stars instead of 5? Well, because Yelp doesn't give 1/2 stars. This is really a 4.5 and I'll explain later why I didn't give it a full 5 stars. I have heard from several friends who have been and have been viewing the pictures which are so appetizing! Finally, an opportunity to go with one of my friends who lives in Tijuana. It's a quick drive across the border to "Distrito Gastronomico" (the food district) and Villa Saverios is down a side street in the middle of the food district. They have valet parking and private parking (very safe). We arrived for dinner but didn't need reservations. I don't know about weekend evenings or brunch so you might want to call ahead just to make sure. The exterior is quite attractive and only a hint at the beauty inside. I was really taken by the decor. Very elegant and the type of place you want to go for a dinner with that special someone. Okay, even with your friends, neighbor.... just go by yourself! The food is incredible! The servers are very professional and took us to a nice booth. The table was adorned with a bottle of wine and wine glasses. After we were seated our server presented us with menus, one in English for me and one in Spanish for my friend. I guess I look that much like a Gringo. The menu is absolutely overwhelming and I mean that in a good way. As I browsed the menu, I keep seeing dish after dish I wanted to try. There was a page of Cold Appetizers, Hot Appetizers, Soups & Salads, Pasta, Classic Entrees and Entrees. And everything sounded simply amazing! Because the Caesar Salad comes from Tijuana (something I recently learned) I just had to try that to start. They brought out a salad just big enough for the two of us to share. The romaine lettuce was long, fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing and croutons. And the salad was sans anchovies which is how I like it! After the cold appetizer, we skipped the hot appetizers and went to a main entree; My friend had the Salmon confit baked in ginger, lemon and basil butter and I had the Filet Mignon in a Chianti sauce with fresh mushrooms. I had some of my friends salmon and it was simply amazing. It was probably the freshest salmon I've tasted. It was a large portion and cooked to perfection. My filet was probably about the size of a petite filet but certainly enough. I told them I wanted a warm pink center and there was a bit of confusion about this. They kept telling me that is "medium well" but I know if I ordered medium well up here... well, I'm going to get a piece of meat that you might as well slap between a bun and call it a burger. But I will say that having had the steak, if that is medium well, it is perfect! It was just the right amount of a pink center and the beef they use is so amazing. I swear they must have different beef down here in Mexico versus what I've had up in California. I really should have tried some other type of meal since I always have filet mignon in Mexico, but it's so hard to resist when it's so flavorful and cooked so perfectly. The only thing I would have done differently is ask for the chianti sauce on the side. I like my steak dry with the exception of occasionally melting bleu cheese atop. The sauce was quite good and the mushrooms in the sauce were exceptional but again, I would ask for this on the side next time. The steak came with some fresh steamed veggies on the side. Everything was perfect in presentation, preparation, proportion (can I think of another "p" word?). When I was finished I was completely satisfied but not so full that you feel uncomfortable or just want to go home and lie down. I was curious about the desserts and when I saw creme brulee, I had to give it a try. They brought out a larger than average sized bowl with a beautifully crusted surface adorned with a sliced fresh strawberry and there were two small plates and spoons so we could share. As I pushed the spoon through the surface it cracked as you would expect but the consistency was a bit thicker and seemed more like flan than creme brulee. Disappointing. That was part of the loss of a full star and the other part came with the drink. I ordered an iced tea and having been to enough places in Mexico, I know the only place I can get a real fresh brewed iced tea is at a Starbucks, but I was hoping given the decor and everything else here being absolutely first class that they would have fresh brewed iced tea. But unfortunately, it was something like out of a can; a sweet tea like arizona iced tea. It's quite revolting and I wish places down here would catch on and make fresh brewed tea. But phenomenal restaurant and I cannot wait to go back and try again. And last, while everything here is absolute first class, the prices are incredibly reasonable. The last time I went was with my husband (it was his first time there), we went on a sunday and got to try their italian buffet, he was amazed by the place!
