I don't think we've ever visited a more stunning resort. The Ritz redefines luxury and sets a new standard for what a resort should be. From the moment we arrived -- where we were welcomed by name at the gate -- we were treated like royalty. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel special every moment. It's the attention to detail: twice-daily housekeeping, swift room service and concierge responses, their own locally sourced water bottle, the car valet guys also being on top of it... the list goes on. The property is simply breathtaking. There are several pools, including an adults-only one, multiple restaurants (including a Michelin-starred option), stunning ocean views, a breakfast that outshines any hotel we've ever stayed at, and even a private beach, where guests are taken down via the hotel's cable car. Every corner of the resort exuded luxury. We mentioned we were getting married during our stay, not expecting much, but the staff went above and beyond to make our special day even better. From balloons and desserts delivered to our room to coming back from the ceremony and finding "I love you" spelled out in rose petals on our bed -- the service was on another level. Thank you, Abama staff, for making our stay unforgettable. We can't wait to return!

The staff was universally helpful and friendly. The grounds were immaculate and we loved the private feel of the beach, even though it was a public beach. We tried almost all of the restaurants, and never had a bad meal. We appreciated the breakfast, which was included, and the focus on local fruits and produce. We would love to revisit this resort.

Once again, my husband and I, came back to this lovely hotel. We had previously stayed in a garden…read morefacing suite, but on this occasion,we decided on a city facing one. From our two balconies we enjoyed views of the Parque García Sanabria, the city and the sea. The suite is spacious, bright and airy, with modern and uncluttered decoration. Bed and furniture are very comfortable. The bathroom had a walk in shower, separate bath, double basin and separately enclosed toilet. We had a spacious walk in closet with a safe. The welcome macaroons, coffee machine and unlimited water were a nice touch. During our stay we visited again the spa; enjoying the spa circuit (thalassotherapy, heated outdoor spa pool, jacuzzi, plunge pools, sauna and steam rooms) and a 70 minute essential massage (I believe we paid £110 per person or so). While at the spa, I decided to get a facial treatment, this was also very good. The facilities are very well maintained and look elegant and uncluttered. The hotel itself and grounds are classic and elegant but have been renovated with a modern twist (I think the hotel was bought by Iberostar and renovated around 2014). You can still see the lovely marble all throughout the reception and the stairs, the lovely chandeliers and parquet flooring. The outdoor garden is lush and green, it's a very nicely tucked away gem in the heart of the city. The location is superb, you are across the street from the park, a few streets from the beach, museums, the Nuestra Señora del África market, etc... Regarding the food: we had breakfast at the hotel. There's a decent selection of pastries, bread, cereals. A small selection of a la carte options, some cheese, cold cuts, caviar, limited fruit. I would have liked some better quality fruits and more vegetarian friendly options but I understand the fruit and veg is limited and of poorer quality due to the geolocation of Tenerife (however I saw very good quality ones at the market a few streets away from the hotel!). During our stay we visited the bar for after dinner drinks, the Mango mule was absolutely delicious and had a tasty edible lemon straw. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful throughout the whole stay. I would most definitely come back. If you want to see the real Tenerife, you must stay in Santa Cruz, La Laguna or La Orotava.

We used the map he gave us and his recommendations throughout our entire stay. We enjoyed the accommodations and amenities. The Restaurants and bars offer great food and drink with great service. The towel animals were so adorable, the children visiting seemed to really enjoy them. The only complaint would be that our bathtub backed up and caused the toilet to flood, the only remedy we were offered until the next morning was extra towels. That was on the first night of our stay, first thing the next morning we were in a new room.

The whole place had old Spanish decor, just truly full of charm and character. Our room was gorgeous; it had a beautiful view of the pools, a lovely 4 poster bed, and a well-appointed bathroom. Americans beware: the king bed is really just 2 mattresses pushed together on a gorgeous wood frame. This is Europe though, and they do seem to love their smaller mattresses. The breakfast buffet was enormous and covered a wide range of cuisines, and it was all fresh and good. The restaurants were nice; we ate at Bocana and it was alright but pricy. Honestly, the little cheap cafés and tapas bars scattered around Tenerife are a better bet. The hotel clientele does seem to skew towards much older people and families. If you are looking for a younger and more fun/party vibe, this isn't the hotel for you. We saw maybe 2-3 other people our age (mid-late twenties), and there wasn't much to do other than lounge by the pool and stare at the admittedly stunning view. Definitely leave the resort during the day and visit Tenerife. Spa Vitanova was a highlight- definitely, definitely use it. The servers at the pool bar were rockstars and will deliver drinks to you while you're in the jacuzzi (have I mentioned the amazing service already?) WiFi is free but spotty. Tl;dr- Great, beautiful, and quiet hotel with great staff and a classy ambience. Perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. Not for party animals or workaholics addicted to fast WiFi.

Excellent hotel with a great location, beautiful pool, and clean rooms…read more We checked in yesterday, and after an issue with the first room, Eva and Miriam, were kind enough to set us up with a much better room. A big comfortable king sized bed, fridge, and TV with many Spanish and English channels, including CNN International and BBC World News. There's a good sized marble bathroom with a double sink, and a patio with table and chairs. The building colors here, white and peach, are very fresh looking. The pool and whirlpool also look and feel amazing. The location is right behind the local beach, where you can buy food and drinks, and easily head back to the hotel to eat or change. It's also located on the Gold Mile were there are many bars, restaurants, and shops just a few steps away. You can also use all the features of the Mediterranean Palace next door which has more families, loud party music, and young adults. If you prefer a quieter, couple-friendly resort, this place will be more suited to you. They have a Spa in the Cleopatra. We used the salt water pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and even had a couples massage. So relaxing! Further, the buffet breakfast here (included without extra charge) is outstanding. Omelette station, custom sliced cold cuts, breads, pastries, fruits, Lindt chocolates, self-serve Cava, and much more. We had a late flight out to Poland on our checkout day and Eva and Julia happily extended our checkout time to accommodate. What a great week here, it's a highly recommended resort!

Rooms are traditional in style and very generously proportioned with private balconies. Check in is quick and painless with a well organised porter service to get luggage to your room while you linger in the lobby with a complimentary glass of bubbly or juice. has more British TV than many hotels of this ilk and the beds are superbly comfortable. air con is ok and the rooms have a safe (12 Euros per week) bath robes and an empty mini bar fridge that you can use for your own drinks or request to be filled with a reasonably priced selection. not a fan of their conditioning shampoo but took my own and there is less buffet variety here than any 4 or 5 star hotel that I've been to before but what they do have is good quality. vegetarians will still struggle as even though veggie friendly items are labeled there wasn't anything much in the way of vegetarian main courses. unless you count the pasta which was cooked to order in pans used used previously for cooking bolognese. same kind of problem occurs at breakfast with the omelettes. this is the first time I have been to a hotel that doesn't have some kind and of potato, hash browns or mushrooms at breakfast on the hot counter. no vegetarian will ever go hungry here but they could do better. There are only so many times I can eat eggs and baked beans for breakfast. loved the pools - the one at the front is like ice but the others are warmer. there is a rooftop pool which is a fave with many but I preferred the big pool - maybe because of its proximity to the bigger bar! poolside exercise daily but don't let that put you off! this hotel is a 15 minute walk from the beach but who needs a beach when you've got such a great pool! When I can get on a PC I will attempt to insert paragraphs into my review. Until then, my apologies! :)
