Puts a smile on your face just walking through the door! Kristy was working in the store this evening, and what a pleasure to deal with. We chatted about all kinds of things, and she hunted for 15 minutes to find a companion bunny for the one we bought (Easter, not Christmas! LOL). She even called to the owner to see if an extra one might be stashed somewhere that she didn't know about! She kindly wrapped several items we were carrying (not from the store) so it would be easier for us to carry. What a fun 30 minutes! We'll definitely follow-up with the store to get a 2nd bunny! However, there is a relatively new associate whom has been strangely unfriendly on numerous occasions. This last incident was completely unacceptable in terms of her dismissiveness towards me; I called about a specific piece I had been looking to buy, and it was available. I told her I would be right over and when I got there less than 20 minutes later, she sold it. Her response was she didn't want to take it out of the hands of a person who came in and bought it after our phone call. There are many ways she could have handled this but the complete disregard she had for me and my time as a return client is not okay. I suspect racism as she and the woman she sold the item to are both white and I am not.

I worked on a landscape inspired by the hills of Taos, and what really stood out wasn't just the painting itself--it was how the whole evening felt. Laura and Mickey are wonderful teachers. They guide you step by step in a way that's clear and supportive, but never rigid. There's a real encouragement to follow your own vision, to experiment, and to not take it all too seriously. It creates this relaxed, creative energy where you can actually enjoy the process instead of worrying about getting it "right." The whole space feels warm and welcoming, and it's easy to settle in and just paint. By the end of the night, I felt both proud of what I made and inspired to keep going.
