In my half-century of car ownership, I've only ever gotten one of them professionally detailed -- my beloved Toyota V6 Rav4 SUV. My car is amazing, can compete with any other in a kick down or out of the hole on Boston's rotaries, and has tech that predates high surveillance or 'stop-me-because-I'm-too-stupid-to-drive-myself' controls. I'm a stickler for manufacturer-recommended maintenance, and expect my vehicles to last in return. I regularly washed, vacuumed, and "Mom detailed" it myself, but it was always another physically-demanding task on my miles-long lists. Finally, after our life-embracing kids left the nest and most of our hairy drooling pets lived out their best lives, I decided to 'treat myself' and got my SUV detailed by Village Detail in Acton on 2A. Most women my ilk were getting full-day spa treatments and aesthetic services if not going on weekend retreats, but I just wanted a 14-cup food processor, my gutters de-mucked as well as I used to do it, and a clean car. The job Village Detail did back then was incredible -- so beyond what I ever could have done, actually *10* star. Today, my same now-17 year old car is having major work done (rear axel shafts, front sway bar bushings, and more) at a dealership not far away, and on a lark, I asked if they could detailed it inside and out before returning it to me tomorrow. They said yes. I assumed they'd be taking it to Village Detail, but just learned they now plan to perform the service 'in house.' I'm skeptical because I know dealership versions of 'detailing' are always just to make a car look pretty and clean enough to resell, whereas professional detailers like Village Detail understand the science and art of detailing because their mission is completely different -- to genuinely restore and preserve the owner's asset. They took my deposit over the phone back in 2021. I've reached to several times over the phone and via their site and no response. Its 2025 and still waiting for a reservation deposit - to which they never called or setup a time for my cars detailing. read more

Horrible and not trustworthy, would give 0 stars if that was an option. I had to send multiple emails for a refund after he did not complete the work on my vehicle that was promised to be complete. I've been taking my cars to VD for years. From an Express exterior wash to a full interior and exterior detailing these folks are fantastic! VD offers paint correction and ceramic coating. I have ceramic coating on both my cars. Five years after application water still beads up like the day of the application. Paint correction has erased the evidence of years of supporting various high school car washes. VD has also taken care of my interior after I left my windows open in the rain. VD has done moisture removal when I caught my windows open when it started to rain. Then there was the thorough overnight soaking that required seat, carpet and liner removal for complete drying to prevent mold. Online gift cards are always the right size for a last minute gift. My car was totally infested with mice. The Subaru dealer recommended Dan, so I made an appointment with him, expecting to hear that the car was a hopeless case. Dan not only agreed to work on it, but he totally cleaned out every part. It is now mouse free and smelling fresh and clean. Been wanting to write a review since I left there a few days ago after getting the full interior detail. They did an awesome job, in great time, and my car looks like new! I bought it used and it had lots of stains on the upholstery, in addition to the fact that I often eat in my car and.. well... I'm embarrassed, but it shows. Just had a full interior detail on my Honda minivan that my kids have destroyed and it came out amazing. My seats were so bad that there was an additional charge they informed me of beforehand and the price was still extremely fair considering the size and mess. I brought my car in for full service interior and exterior detailing and was very disappointed in the results. I have only had my car detailed once before so maybe I just had an above average experience my first time, but I recall what wowed me so much about the experience and what made me want to pay so much to do it again was the miraculous way the care was cleaned in all of the areas that one wouldn't be able to clean with an average car washing or hand washing. I was hoping that this would be the case with Village Detail and that they would get all the cracks and crevices clean, but it doesn't look like there was any attempt to clean anything but the main surface areas that one could easily clean themselves. When I picked my car up I pointed out all the gunk and grime that was still in every crevice and jamb and the representative just looked at the car blankly and started blowing puffs of air at the hood of the car where there was no problem. It was kind of awkward to be there trying to get the guy to acknowledge the issue so I just paid and left but I regret having spent that amount of money to get the car detailed for the results to be worse than if I had done it myself. In addition to what is shown in the pictures, there were also still stains on the ceiling that were ignored (yes, I have ketchup/chocolate/etc stains on my ceiling due to a handsy three year old) and while I thought the windshield was clean when I picked the car up I realize now after driving into bright sun that the windshield is still incredibly foggy and streaked so I'll have to do that again myself. I could understand if my car was so dirty that they did only what they could in the 8 hours I paid for, but they finished 2 hours early so they should have used that time to do a thorough job. Unfortunately attention to "detail" doesn't seem to be there. read more

If only ZERO stars was an option here. The absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. Paid for the full service interior cleaning ($170!)...not even close to what was done. Even more frustrating than the sub-par detail was the lack of professionalism by Dan, the owner. My appointment was scheduled for a Saturday at 1pm. I dropped the vehicle off at 9:30am that day and was told by Dan that he would call when it was finished. The detail appointment was 1pm-5pm. The shop hours are listed with a closing time of 5pm, so starting around 4:45 I began calling to check the status. After several calls with no answer, my husband and I drove over to Village Detail where we were told by Dan that they hadn't even started working on the vehicle. No apology for the inconvenience, no reason provided as to why they NEVER called to inform us of a delay or need to reschedule. We agreed to leave the vehicle overnight so they could complete it on Sunday. When it was finally "ready" on Sunday (almost 5pm...24 hours after it should have been completed), Dan called to advise me that due to the condition of the vehicle (my husband does construction, which I let Dan know when I booked the appointment), he was going to apply what would have been a credit for the inconvenience toward an additional fee given the condition. I was fine with this, until I went to pick the vehicle up. First, upon checkout, Dan attempted to overcharge me by $20, claiming that $190 rather than $170 was the standard price. Then, upon inspection of the vehicle, there were numerous areas that had not even been touched. I asked Dan to come look at the vehicle with me and his response was, "Do you know what this looked like before?" Of course I know the condition, which is exactly why I was willing to pay someone else to clean it. Dan told me, "we aren't touching this car again" and stormed off. Ultimate, after speaking again on the phone and in person, Dan refused to look at the areas that weren't cleaned, raised his voice at me repeatedly and told me to leave. He was completely unprofessional and did not perform the service I paid for. ZERO stars. As the old adage goes, if you want something done right, do it yourself. read more

All the employees at Village Details are professional and kind, and during my last visit, Dan truly went out of his way to help remediate a water-odor problem that I had been experiencing. Dan and his team were in constant communication with me on their plan of action. They helped set a reasonable expectation of what could be done, and went so far as to help try to figure out what exactly was happening with the mechanics of my car. Dan runs a great business! Got an interior and exterior detail, and overall they did a good job. 2 big reasons that I wouldn't recommend this business though - they left a big scratch on the center console, and they removed 2 small patches of the exterior paint trying to get sap off. Pretty sure the ding on the hood wasn't there before either. Wish I could recommend them but I would try somewhere else before I made another appointment with them. read more

I just had a full detail (interior and exterior) job done on my newer Volvo SUV with black interior. My car gets a lot of beating with two active kids, sports gear, their friends, and a yellow Labrador retriever who loves to travel in the back cargo area. Needless to say, I needed a full detail. Village detail did a great job. It was spotless - not one dog hair to be seen. I am very particular and expect a thorough job when I am paying top dollar. Looks and smells like a new car. I've only had one service experience with these guys but it was pretty bad so thought worth sharing in case it's helpful. In short, my tale of woe amounts to realizing the professionalism here goes no deeper than the matching t-shirts and surface confidence. I scheduled a specific service with the owner and when I dropped my car off he wasn't there and guys working hadn't been informed. I explained the needed service I discussed with owner and, to cut to the end, when I retrieved car, the guys working had decided to do something else (which didn't address the original problem). My wife spilled some coffee in her car recently and was pretty bummed she couldn't get the smell out. After a few days not only was there a coffee odor, but a distinct smell of spoilage. I took the car in to Village Detail to get a complete interior detailing as a surprise Christmas present. When I picked it up, it certainly looked good, felt good, smelled... exactly the same. Actually more intense, although that might be because they'd been blasting the heat to dry it out. Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate that there weren't any detectable fumes from any cleaning or treatment products. And maybe I'm naive about what detailing can accomplish. But for $175, I kind of expect that when I pick up the car it will smell better than when I dropped it off. read more

I just picked up my 2022 Tesla Model 3 from Village Detail; It looks great! Dan (the owner) was easy to work with, gave me a fair price, and did a fantastic job on the "Complete Exterior Detailing" package. My Tesla shines like new. I'd definitely use him again in the future. read more

Was disappointed by level of cleanliness. Needed to vacuum the trunk and clean the inside of the windshield myself when I got home. Also surprised that a $200 detail doesn't include a basic car wash (located next door). It's just "okay" here. read more

If you offer "express detail" that's supposed to take only twenty minutes (mats and vacuum only was what I wanted), and it's only 4:10 and you say you're open until 5, and only 1 of your 3 bays is in use, the answer can't be "we don't have the time to take you." Probably the best detail job we have had in a long time, if ever. Our car looks like it just came of lot, sans the new car smell - but a clean smell nonetheless! We have two dogs who love car rides, and Dan and his crew took the dog hairs and else in stride. You never would have know we had after the job that's was done with our car. While the job was excellent, I was just as impressed with Dan, the owner. He was friendly, courteous, professional, and patient. It is clear he takes pride in his business, and it shows. Had my car treated with the 9yr warranty ceramic coating. I have used many coatings personally before and this really seems to be more than anything off the shelf. I have used Village Detail several times, and have always been very impressed with the quality of the interior detail work. Compared to others, the rates are very fair and I find the end result to be much better than the competition. I drive for Uber and my car can very quickly get filthy inside; no matter how many months of dirt have built up, Dan always gets it spotless and looking brand new. These guys are unbelievably good. My car had extensive patches of pine resin drop onto the paint and windshield. I thought the finish was probably ruined, but I brought it here since they've always done great work with our cars. Not only did they remove all the resin, they buffed the finish so there are no spots or shadows where the resin was. My car looks better than it has in years. I'm still amazed. read more
