When I walked in I was greeted by a young lady named Kristina who was an absolute bastion of charm and professionalism. Even though I tend to tire of new people rather quickly, this woman was so interesting and engaging I could have talked to her for hours. This worked out well since it was well over an hour before I was called back for my consultation. I had another considerable wait in the exam room before the doctor finally came in. Dr. Whitt was nice and personable enough. He explained there was something eating away the structure of my tooth that wasn't decay, but something else I'd never heard of. He indicated he'd probably have to remove the crown since he couldn't see what was under it. In hindsight I find myself wondering what made him think there was something under the crown if he couldn't see under it? When the consultation was over I went to the front desk to schedule the procedure. I was told they had an opening at 12:00 the following day, and the next opening would be sometime in August. So I scheduled for the next day. Even though I arrived a few minutes before 12:00 it was well after 2:30 before Dr. Whitt finally came in to administer the anesthesia, and at least another 30 minutes before starting what was supposed to be a root canal. After he worked and ground on the tooth for another 30 minutes or so he announced that the tooth could not be saved and would have to be extracted. I was then presented with my part of the bill, which was $690. That seemed like a lot just to find out a tooth which wasn't even on my radar a week earlier was now nothing but a nub I was going to lose. EDIT: For the record, I've had a lot of dental work over the course of my life. I made a trip to Costa Rica about 6 years ago where I had something like 20 crowns, 5 extractions, 3 or 4 root canals, 2 bridges, and 2 implants. And my first wife was a dental assistant, so I'm no stranger to dentistry. But this whole experience felt really strange to me, so I contacted an old high school friend in Kentucky who also happened to be the dentist who crowned this particular tooth years earlier. His first response was "I have never, in 40years heard of an endodontist cutting a crown off." He then asked if I could email him the X-rays. My dentist down here sent all the X-rays taken by them and Village Endodontics, which included the report Dr. Whitt sent back to my dentist. When I read it I was rather shocked to see this report bore little resemblance to his conversation with me during the procedure. There was no mention of this mysterious substance eating away at my tooth structure, but instead said the tooth was VERTICALLY CRACKED! The reason this is so significant is when my Kentucky dentist was crowning the tooth he said he saw something in the X-ray which made him think it was cracked. To verify it wasn't he put a roll of cotton under the tooth and had me bite down as hard as I could to see if there was any pain or discomfort. Since there was none he concluded the tooth was fine and proceeded with the crown. Had Dr. Whitt even mentioned the word "crack" in his diagnosis I would have immediately told him of the prior confusion and that he could either proceed with the traditional root canal or I'd go elsewhere. But since he didn't, I sat there and let him destroy a perfectly good crown and underlying tooth... and then add insult to injury by charging me almost $700 for doing it. When I went back to my dentist and told him what I knew at that point he said he wanted to try something, stuck a rudimentary crown on the nub Dr. Whitt left, and gave me another round of antibiotics for the abscess which was obviously still there. The second round of antibiotics weren't nearly as effective as the first, but I have no pain in the tooth whatsoever. However, I do have evidence of the infection entering my sinus cavity. It's been right at 2 weeks and the rudimentary crown just fell off leaving the nub. I'm not sure how badly Dr. Whitt damaged my tooth, but if not for that I'd have a root canal and pay for another crown. read more

The best! Had bad tooth pain on a Friday. My regular dentist office wouldn't connect me to a live person, sent me an automated message for a Monday afternoon appointment. I knew I needed antibiotics, this infection was winning. By Saturday noon pain was getting severe, couldn't sleep. In desperation called Village Endodontics who had done a root canal for me several years ago. Within an hour the doctor called back, confirmed diagnosis, called in two prescriptions, and told me to come in the office Monday morning. By Tuesday they did a pain-free root canal. read more

In Oct 2023, I called Villages Endodontics (VE) to verify that Dr Whitt was in the network for Aetna dental insurance. I was assured that VE accepted Aetna. On Nov 2023, went to VE for a consultation & x-rays. Asked to speak to the billing manager and again was assured that they were in network with Aetna. On Nov 29th, went to VE for the root canal & again was assured that they were in the network with Aetna. I paid my co-pay of $954 for the consultation & work. In May 2024, I receive a bill for another $600 because Aetna could not pay. They stated Dr Whitt has not been in network since 2015-2016. The billing mgr. made a big mistake by not speaking to a live person at Aetna. VE wants me to pay additional because the insurance did not pay. If VE would have told me the truth about not accepting Aetna, I would have found a different endodontist to go to. I don't think I should have to pay anything additional because the mgr. didn't take the time to do the right job. I have asked VE to right the additional charges off. read more

I highly recommend Village Endodontics! I went there about three years ago for a root canal and followed up with a crown. Everyone was very friendly and considerate and I appreciated the time they took with me. I went in on Friday, August 6 for a cracked tooth. I was expecting merely to have another root canal leading up to a crown. I was quite shocked to find out my tooth had split all the way down the middle from an old filling and I needed an extraction. I have never had one before and did not know what to expect. Dr. Pushpak Narayana and his assistant Brooke took a lot of time to patiently answer all of my questions. Dr. Narayana explained the procedure thoroughly and described the follow up which would either be an implant or a bridge. He tried to make the procedure as painless as possible. I was discharged with antibiotics, pain medicine, and an ice pack, all of which were put to use. I returned today on Friday the 13th to have the sutures removed. It was a painless procedure and the gum around the bone graft had healed quite well with no infection or any issues. I was cleared to return to my dentist to discuss in depth a bridge or implant. I highly recommend Dr. Narayana and his office staff. Everyone from the receptionist to his assistant to the doctor himself was extremely friendly, courteous, and reassuring. I felt I received the highest level of care and will happily return here should I need future endodontic intervention! read more

Recently called Village Endodontics with a toothache, they worked me in the same afternoon to relieve my discomfort. Staff is very courteous, friendly and compassionate.The doctor explained the treatment in great detail and was very gentle. That evening the doctor called to make sure I was doing well after treatment and the office staff also checked on me the following day. Excellent office with state of the art equipment. read more
