Such tasty and fresh food! The Village Greek food truck was at my company for a work event. I had gotten their Chicken Souvlaki gyro and Pork Souvlaki gyro. They were both delicious, but I would have to say the Pork gyro was my favorite. Both gyros were simple as they were served on warm and soft pita bread and topped with fresh tomatoes and onions. A very tasty tzatziki sauce was spread on the pita bread as well. I felt like the Chicken gyro was a bit on the drier end for my liking, but the Pork was perfectly cooked. The pork was super tender and well-seasoned. Everything was cooked to order and the incredible staff serving us was accommodating and super nice (even when I came back for seconds... and thirds to take home haha). The food truck is minimalistic and easy to spot because it's a bright red. I'd love to try their Spanish fries or Greek fries if I happen to spot the food truck! Since this was a catering event, the menu was significantly smaller but this meant there was a minimal wait time and I got my food nearly immediately. read more

For those of you who have been to Greece, and miss all that delicious food, you absolutely have to visit the Village Greek Mobile Restaurant in Rhode Island. You can tell the owners care about the way they cook their food when you talk to them, explaining they make their tzatziki from scratch. Their Spanakopita is flaky, cheesy and not "spinachy" at all. Their leg of lamb gyro is delicious and nothing like that "mystery meat" cone you get at festivals and pizzerias, it is actually 100% cubed lamb you can taste. Their chicken gyro is popular with those scared to try lamb (don't be scared) and their classic dishes like Pastitsio and Moussaka are like your Greek friend's mom made when you visited them. Their Spanish Fries are hand cut with scratch garlic aioli, and their famous Greek Fries are made with fresh lemon juice (not that green bottle liquid imitation), imported Greek oregano, and they crumble the feta, they don't buy it pre crumbled. They explained why, and it was great to hear it. Their desserts are awesome, from their perfcet baklava with walnuts and almonds, to their Galactic Booty Call (yes, that is what it is called) which is a custard dessert, and rice pudding, Greek style. If that is not enough to make you go, they almost always have vegan and vegetarian dishes for those with picky palates. The owner is from Montreal too, so they also have poutine on their menu if you like that. Don't be in a rush though. Sometimes it takes a few minutes. But then again, good things come to those who wait. So if you can't make it to Greece, visit the Village Greek, it's the next best thing. read more

Food truck so no ambiance. Visited at Wickford Harbor Lights. Wish I had the same experience as the other reviewrs had. Lamb gyros was overcooked sliced lamb. No seasoning I cold detect. Not the rotisserie pressed meat I am familiar with. Flavorless tzatzki. Couple of sliced onions and slabs of tomato. Greek fries were clumped together in soggy slabs. Yuck. I've been avoiding food trucks for the past five years because of a near death allergic reaction and Village Greek was the first, and only, food truck that I've opened up too so far. My husband and I spent my birthday weekend in Newport and stumbled upon the Village Greek at Greenvale Vineyards. Chef Niko was so helpful in describing the comprehensive menu and had some great stories to share about his Greek/Canadian cultural background. [Arguably] most importantly, the lamb was FANTASTIC, and this is coming from an Italian-American girl who grew up eating lamb her whole life (tldr; it's hard to find good lamb). We devoured the poutine as well. Next time we're in New England, will try to seek out again. Highly recommend! read more

Honestly, probably the best falafel pita I've ever had. The pita was unbelievably good, the tzatziki sauce was heavenly, and of course the falafel itself was fresh and delicious. Your food truck really struggled at Greenvale Vineyards. The wait time for a gyro, grape leaves and fries was an hour. Food trucks thrive on speed, and it was severely lacking. The woman running the window is too slow to be in that position. Also, the bald gentleman in the kitchen really needs to wear a bandana. Sweating bullets in there; which definitely gets on peoples food. I will say the food was good. However, it just was not worth the wait. I wasted a lot of time in line to order, and when I came back to check on my food 40 minutes later where I standee first another 20 minutes. You guys really need to step your game up. read more

They were Overwhelmed and underprepared. Just dropped $60 at the salute to summer fest. Waited over 30 min for my order while they sent orders after mine out first. $15 for Colorado lamb and there were 4 small pieces in my gyro. Claims of a "massive" Greek salad are misleading. I picked up a delicious late lunch, spur of the moment today from the Village Greek - our first time, and we'll be back again and again. Super good, authentic lamb gyro, perfect dolmas and tzatziki, and a vegan eggplant dish with the most yummy oniony tomato sauce and pilaf. Every dish was right on, with hearty servings. Checked out the Village Greek and would say it's a solid spot. The owner was very nice and welcoming. We had the chicken gyro and grape leaves. so to all my friends and family. last year we visited a winery. very nice place, they had some food trucks, so I decided to try a Gyro, from "the village Greek".. friends, I cant describe how bad it is, I'll just show you my review, last year, and their reply of lies, 37 minutes ago... nothing insults me more than a garbage food establishment making up lies when a customer is unhappy with the service. thi sis by far one of the worst experiences I've had with food trucks. a year ago Ordered a Lamb Gyro. after 40 minutes, the 3 pieces of "meat" I bit into ended up into a napkin, so chewy I gagged on the 3rd piece and couldn't take it anymore. I brought it back, with chewed fat chunks in a napkin. the "chef" argued he uses fresh leg of lamb, ( unlike the "meatloaf" others use ( which tastes amazing, unlike this fat) but if I "think its chewy, they will shave it first. another 30 minutes later I though they forgot about me, so I go to the truck, they immediately make it, A-Holes... shaved, and still just as chewy. you'ld think they would know how to cut on the bias.... worst Gyro ever. and no flavor to the Tzatziki sauce. should have gone to the Clam Chowder truck. Response from the owner 37 minutes ago We called you at least four times to pick up your order and showed you the text and call history on the phone when after searching the grounds for you, you finally showed up asking your order. At which point we offered to make you a whole new gyro so that it would be hot. So not only did we make you a whole new gyro, but you insisted we cut it in small pieces, and you when we showed it to you to see if it was to your liking, you asked that it be cut even smaller so you could eat it since you had told us you had no teeth and couldn't chew the meat or bread as you were expecting the meat to be the "soft meatloaf" (known as Chicago gyro) and not real meat cuts we use for souvlaki. I was immediatly blocked on facebook once they responded. its real bad. and I've had BAD ! ( i've also had phenominal, and this was the opposite) read more
