This was my first time here per recommendation from a friend- I got the chicken shawarma wrap with everything. Service was fast and friendly and the wrap was grilled and absolutely delicious! A lot of the garlic white sauce and oh so good- glad I tried this place in addition to my usual East Side Pockets- will definitely be back! Lots of happy customers in here- vibrant and lively energy of friends and patrons.... UPDATE- I went back and got the shawarma platter AND tried the gyro- I can't believe it took me so long to come here (probably mostly because East Side Pockets was so darn good). pro tip: get the shawarma from here and the gyro and falafel from East Side Pockets and have a feast in a nearby park! I could eat here every day:)

I've been here years ago but tried again based on reccomendations from a friend. The chicken shawarma from here leans hard towards the "street food" feel. Crispy griddled pita, French fries added into the wrap (optional), creamy and fatty sauces and spreads added to the wrap.. It was all good and tasty. For me, it lacked freshness and to be honest, it didn't have as much chicken as I expected it would, plus, the vegetables didn't have a ton of flavor. I liked it, but I didn't enjoy this as much as some other options on the same street. That said, I'd likely come back with some friends if they insist- I'd just get something that is dissimilar to something I can order at east side pockets. The service was a bit on the slow side, but I think they take a lot of to-go orders here. So it's understandable, even though it was at 9pm. Stop into this little hole in the wall if you're looking to try something new. You'll be able to find something you like, I'm sure.

Located in the heart of Brown University area, on Thayer st, always busy but orders come out quick. Parking on that street can be tough. Layback spot, a few tables; option of ordering delivery. First time i went to Mike was with q friend who is a regular; she raved about the shawarma. I was on a diet and only had a salad. The salad was great! With grilled chicken and tons of fixings. This time though i ordered the shawarma and my friend was right, so good! Got it with french fries inside, a must! The wrap is huge, i couldn't finish it all. Will definitely go back!

the service alone makes this establishment 5 stars. such cheerful, happy associates and owner. so helpful when i place a larger order ahead of time, ready for pick up on time, lent me a large bag to get my items to my event without getting rained on. i have come many times late at night to get a chicken shawarma salad. personally tried their new beef shawarma recently and loved it. i forgot to ask for no ketchup or molasses but it was still really good. so generous with their portions. i have eaten in with friends for a casual stop and it's a cute little clean place for grub.

This place is LEGIT. be careful ordering the shawarma if you want to be able to focus on anything else until you come back.

Best shawarma around, and they're open super late! Parking is a challenge, just be advised.

The owner says the chicken used for the shawarma is halal. They do have a halal certificate. But he says the other meats are not halal including the chicken tenders they use for the calzone. If you ask for the grillled (shawarma) chicken in the…

The first time I came, it was a rainy weekday and this time it was a sunny weekend, so I was expecting an even larger crowd; and my prediction was correct. The line was just out the door but because of their awesome staff, the line was moving very quickly. While we waited in line, we could watch them making pastries through the glass, a couple feet in front of us. I admired that level of transparency. When we were third in line, the kindest lady asked us whether we'd be eating in or taking out and she took down our name to help us find a table when it came time. She did the same for the rest of the people in line. She also gave us some recommendations, including the cinnamon bun - apparently they're so good kids cry when they sell out. I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

The frosting was incredible though. That stuff could go on anything. The cinnamon buns at Oak Bakeshop and Whole Foods are much better with those typical gooey layers inside. Also, it was not large in size, anyone can eat it in one sitting. The worker who took my order was very friendly and it is so nice/comfortable inside there.

Chomp is one of those Providence restaurants that I keep finding myself coming back to, even after…read moretelling myself I should probably try something else on the menu. I've eaten my way through quite a few things here over the years, and while there are plenty of good choices, I keep coming back to the Smokey and the Bandit smash burger. At this point, I probably know what I'm ordering before I even sit down. There's just something about that combination that keeps winning. The food here is consistently good. Everything I've had has been fresh, hot, and full of flavor, and the kitchen seems to have that part figured out without making a big production of it. The menu has enough variety that you can come in with different appetites and still find something you want, but it doesn't feel like one of those places with a menu the size of a small novel where you need twenty minutes just to decide what you're looking at. The beer selection is another reason I enjoy Chomp. There's enough variety to make choosing a beer part of the experience rather than simply grabbing whatever happens to be on tap. Prices are also pretty reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, which is increasingly something I notice because restaurant prices have a funny way of creeping upward when you're not paying attention. The location is another part of the appeal. Chomp sits in a great little part of Providence where you can easily make an evening out of being in the neighborhood. There are plenty of other restaurants, shops, and places to wander around nearby, so it doesn't feel like you're making a special trip just to eat and then immediately getting back in the car. Tonight, though, I have to give a special shout-out to Bella, who was our server. She was outstanding. Friendly, personable, attentive without hovering, and genuinely helpful. She suggested adding bacon to my Smokey and the Bandit, which I probably wouldn't have thought to do on my own. I'm very glad she mentioned it because it was an excellent call. Sometimes the best recommendations are the simple ones, and she nailed it. One piece of advice if you're planning on coming here: make a reservation if you can. Chomp can fill up quickly, and given how good the food is, that really shouldn't come as much of a surprise. It's the kind of restaurant where people come back because they already know they're going to have a good meal, and I'm certainly part of that group. Five stars from me. Great food, good beer, reasonable prices, a fantastic Providence location, and genuinely good service. I've tried enough of the menu over the years to know that Chomp has plenty of options, but apparently I'm still incapable of walking through the door without ordering that Smokey and the Bandit. Add Bella's bacon recommendation to the list of reasons I'm going to keep coming back.

That aside, we ordered several varieties of wings, a couple different burgers and sandwiches, and a salad. The wings were OK, but about as dry as could be, almost inedible. The burgers were just eh. Both the Smash Burger and House Burger were decently cooked but greasy with little flavor. The Smokey Melt was a little more flavorful but really heavy and greasy. The worst item by far was the Caesar Salad. Honestly it looked like someone sliced up lettuce like you would for a sub sandwich, or used a 1990s Salad Shooter, and threw it in a styrofoam dish. It didn't even resemble a salad I'd avoid this place.
