Had heard good things and the place was nearly full on a weekday, so expectations were high. The space is attractive and the menu is all small plates, which we liked. We may have caught an off night. Service was friendly and attentive--especially considering there appeared to be just one server covering the room--but the kitchen was very slow. The delay carried over to our second round of cocktails as well. The biggest issue was the keftedes (our last dish), which unfortunately came out undercooked (rare) in the center. We'll give them another try, as there's clearly potential here. read more

I don't give 5 stars often but they earned it. Came for dinner with 2 of my girlfriends and jokingly I said do we just want to get everything on the right side of the menu? They agreed. We did not get the first and did get tatziki instead. Holy Moly! I am in physical pain leaving cause I am sooooo full! The tzatziki and pita was soooo good! Meatballs were great! Greenbeans flavorful, lemon potatoes yummy, shrimps mmmmmm, chicken skewers so tasty! I didn't have the baked feta but the others said good, the dessert we got was tasty but not at all what I had pictured. We got there for 530 and it was pretty empty but filled in quickly. I had a wonderful time with my friends at Fili!! This is a cute, upscale date night spot with beautiful and delicious Greek food. Staff is very friendly, the space is very bright, and clean. The drinks are quite good and the food are smaller dishes that are best for sharing. Would 10000% recommend getting the meatballs, they're so tender and juicy. I also liked the lamb orzo. Drinks were pretty good as well, I enjoyed their cocktail and mocktail selection. Parking unfortunately is only street parking, but there's definitely spaces around. It's a bit on the pricier side of things, but I would still come here again for a date night or a girls night because of all the small sharing style plates! read more

Doxa to Theos, Glory to God for a good Greek restaurant in Providence! When Yoleni's closed, I cried. When Kleos closed, I figured I would never eat Greek food again. But thanks to Fili, my hopes and dreams have been restored! Truly authentic Greek food. I LOVE that they make gyros with pork instead of lamb (lamb gyros are not a thing in Greece!), but they do have Giouvetsi for lamb lovers, a menu item I haven't seen outside of Greece! The sparkling water is actually the kind you get in Greece, as are the salt shakers. It's like being in a modern Greek restaurant in the motherland. And I say that because it's not gimmicky or stereotyped at all. It's not painted blue and white with photos of Santorini everywhere (though there are photos of the owners family and some other notable Greek people on the wall). The menu doesn't consist of Americanized Greek food. The saganaki, which is always aflame at most restaurants, came out of the kitchen baked - totally different. Refreshing. Everything is designed to be shared, which is true to real Greek dining. My husband and I shared six dishes (horiatiki, tirokafteri, patates, kaftedes, saganaki, and psari), and we had absolutely no room for dessert. It's a little pricey, but it's an upscale spot and I think if you know how to order, it's not too bad. Side note: I'm presently not drinking alcohol, but the drink menu looked really great. And the fact that they had spirit free options was a total win for me! read more

Perfect spot for a hot date. You don't get more Greek than George, the owner who sits at the bar. This place opened then closed for a bit and now re-opened better than ever. Some of the items have been a bit updated like spanakopita and we like them more now. We love new additions of saganaki and the branzino. If you could only order one thing here, get the lamb shank. It's killer. Second is the Keftedes/meatballs - super authentic. Annoying neighbors apparently had put up a big stink when this place tried to open up...but it's such a welcome addition to the neighborhood! And the best Greek food in RI by a mile. Ironically, despite the cluster of Greeks that call RI there home, there's not enough Greek food around! It is pricey though - the food is so tasty its dangerous once you start ordering you may not stop. read more

Our fourth time here, on this occasion we returned with two friends from Cambridge having told them this was a restaurant we liked very much. We ordered a variety of dishes to share. The taramasalata was excellent-m as were the lemon potatoes and the spanakopita. The keftedes, gouvietsi, souvalaki were equally good. For dessert we shared a very tasty portokali revani cake. We accompanied the meal with flat and sparkling water and a bottle of red Xinomavro, which was decent (@$56) but I may not order it again. I had a Greek coffee which was ok. We like the modern decor with its large B&W photographs. I noticed a couple of tables outside on the sidewalk which were occupied periodically, but I much prefer dining inside even though it can get noisy. The owner, George, was ever present, keeping a friendly eye on the place. Our server, the very attentive Jacques, whom we know from elsewhere, was personable and quite excellent. The meal lived up to our expectations with the check coming up-to $206 - not inexpensive but worth the expenditure. We will return. read more

Our waiter literally started off our evening by saying he "got in trouble for fat shaming" customers and that he would "coach" us through our meal. The good: The food was clean, healthy, and used refreshingly simple ingredients, leaving us without that overly stuffed sensation. The meatballs were moist and flavorful, the fish was buttery and flaky, and the baked feta and veggies were warm and delicious. The modern and stylish interior created an inviting atmosphere, making it a pleasure to spend time there. The cocktails were a standout, especially the unique licorice-flavored gin, which was both tasty and intriguing. The not so good: The portions are meant to be small, which I usually enjoy. However, they are also meant to be shared, which left the 4 of us all a little hungry at the end of the meal. When we decided to order either the gyro or the lamb, they were out of both. The expensive price of each item makes it difficult to order a lot of plates which is necessary for their small size. What we ordered would have been plenty for 2 people, but definitely not for a group of 4. For example, the tzatziki dish included about 1/4 cup of tzatziki which would have been enough for one person (maybe haha). Overall this restaurant has really good potential! We enjoyed our first visit! It is clean and sleek inside. Our server was so nice, and had helpful advice regarding the menu. Our starter (tzatziki and pita) and small plates (shrimp, chicken and broccolini) were delicious. Drinks were also good. The only slight disappointment was dessert. We had the shredded phyllo with honey/custard. It was fine, but the 'whipped cream' on top was completely frozen so it seemed like a premade dessert rather than fresh like the rest of the food. I stopped by with a friend early in the evening on a Friday and peeked in - the interior looked lovely and the posted menu looked intriguing so we ventured in and asked for a table for two. We saw that there was a table for two, outdoor seating, and bar seatiing available and no one seemed to be waiting. It took quite a few minutes but someone finally came to meet us. We asked if we needed reservations and we were told there was one table available but to wait and see if we could be seated. After quite a few minutes more we were flatly and emotionlessly told that some food was running low so we could not be seated or served. We were never asked what we came in for (it could have been simply a cocktail or a small plate or maybe we could have been satisfied with what was available). We felt unwelcome and rejected as if we did not belong there. 7:30 on a Friday evening and no food? We later called Fili and explained the situation and were told that when food gets to a certain point that no one gets seated. And then the person added "If you don't like it, open your own restaurant!" Call disconnected. So if this is the dining experience you are looking for, Fili is your place. read more

We had looked forward to returning for dinner with friends but our experience tonight was quite disappointing. They are so understaffed that it took 1/2 hr and my partner had to go to the bard for us to get our drinks. Our food came out in dribs and drabs. In our party of four two had nothing while the other two finished their meals so their food wouldn't go cold. The food itself was over salted. On top of that it was very noisy, with music with a deep bass playing. We will think twice about returning and will recommend our friends stay away. read more

Hands down the best Greek food in all of New England. I would eat here weekly if I lived nearby! Everything we tried was exceptional and authentically Greek -- piping hot, perfectly seasoned, light and fresh yet bursting with flavor. I particularly loved the saganaki, where the feta was served atop a bed of diced tomato, pepper and onion that created a delicious contrast. I could not get enough of that combo! The patates lemonates with tirokafteri was heavenly: the crispy pototoes had just the right amount of lemon that paired well with the tirokafteri (feta and pepper spread/dip). I can't eat lemon potatoes any other way now. The roasted tomato and almond pesto accompanying the garrides (shrimp) was so addicting, we had to ask for extra pita to mop up every last bit of sauce. Lastly the lamb and orzo in the giouvetsi melted in your mouth and was remarkably light. As other reviews have mentioned, the sequence of the food being presented and the pacing was great, which is an underrated component of dining out at small plates or tapas-style restaurants. We were able to properly savor every dish without being overrun with plates all at once, as is often the case elsewhere. Tip: check the restaurant's website for the hours or call them directly. Apple Maps showed the restaurant as closed on Sundays but the restaurant's website listed them as open. So glad I checked, otherwise we would have missed out on an incredible meal. read more

DO NOT GO THERE. We have dined at Fili many times since it opened. In the past few weeks we saw a big turnover in staff. Last night 4 of us were expecting a nice meal. We had all dined there together before. 2 of us waited over a half hour for our first drinks. The former bartender was gone. The former waiters were gone. Last night there were only 3 wait staff and one was the bartender. our dishes didn't arrive at the same time. Two of our table didn't get their main course while --- anyway, you get the picture. the restaurant was packed and very NOISY. One wait staff brought the wrong dishes to our table and then again to another table. My partner said it was the worst service he had ever experienced. So GOODBY to what we thought was going to be our go-to neighborhood spot. Oh, yes, the bill was outrageously high. One of our 4 didn't touch his meal when it finally came-it was so over-spice/salaty.
